Behind the Scenes with Steve & Liam of Orthaheel

Hey there!  This is Lauren, Footwear Buyer at QVC.

My team and I (great group of girls) would like to introduce you to our new blog- In Her Shoes.  We are so excited to share our behind the scenes moments with you about our brands, guests, trends and just fun along the way that we have here at QVC, doing our jobs!

First up I would like to introduce you to my good friends from Orthaheel, Steve Mabb and Liam Bourke.  Born and raised in Australia, they are really great guys to work with, who love helping people find shoes that make their feet feel better - and the Australian accents don’t hurt to listen to either!

Lauren & Liam

Liam & Myself

Last week I caught up with Steve and Liam and asked them a few questions about their lives outside of QVC, and their Australian roots.  Here’s what they had to say…

How Many Pairs of Shoes are In Your Closet?

Steve Mabb: 25 pairs.  That seems like a lot more than most guys probably have!

Liam Bourke: I have 32 pairs.

What do you do when you're not at QVC?

S:  I just started doing P90X which keeps me active, as well as chasing after my 3 kids (6 yrs, 4 yrs and 2 yrs).

L:  I started doing Bikram Yoga, and have been practicing for about 6 months now.

Liam doing Yoga

What is the biggest cultural difference you experience coming to the United States?

S: The language, as some words mean different things here than in Australia.  Sports are also very different here from the sports that we follow in Australia which are primarily Rugby and Cricket.

L:  Definitely the language and the way words are pronounced.  Tipping took me a little while to get used to, as well as driving on the opposite side of the car and road.

You'd be surprised to know ____ about me

SAbout 12 years ago Liam and I participated in a small mustache competition among our coworkers.  We both grew a beard and then shaved it into a unique mustache.  We ended up coming in 2nd and 3rd place and were awarded Certificates of Participation.

LMy childhood home had a lot of land and we had horses growing up.  I learned to ride at the age of 5.

Something else you may not know about Steve and Liam is that they were friends long before they were coworkers at Orthaheel, in fact they have been friends for over 15 years!

They first met in 1999 while working for a US-based footwear company.  Five years later Steve joined Orthaheel and shortly thereafter Liam made the transition to Orthaheel in 2005.

Following our interview, Liam and Steve shared some more about their Australian roots.  Even though they live here permanently they still make it home to Austrailia, several times a year to see their families.  Here are some scenes from their time back home, my favorite are the kangaroos!

WEAR IT WELL WEDNESDAY – FLOWER POWER

$

I was so excited by the response to a question I posted on Bob's Facebook page, asking, "If you could be any flower, what would you be?" Feeling inspired by your answers, I decided to make flowers the theme for today's "Wear it Well" post. As you may or may not know, I am a floral designer by trade, and I am constantly in awe over all the ways Bob incorporates flowers into his designs. We may not get to be our favorite flowers, but we can sure look as pretty as a daisy (or whatever your favorite happens to be) when wearing Wearable Art.

Most of everyone's favorites have already been done by Bob as yummy, comfortable T-shirts...Have you seen them?

Bob Mackie fan, Detra, likes Gerbera Daisies. For her, I suggest Bob Mackie's Floral Embroidered T-Shirt in Navy, which has orange, white, and yellow gerberas.

There are other flowers and color choices as well, but the best thing is that you add a bit of pizzazz to your summer wardrobe with a great top that is more than just a plain old tee.

Do you prefer a bit more coverage? Then try Bob Mackie's Embroidered Floral 3/4 Sleeve Knit T-shirt with gorgeous outlines of various flowers.

There are several floral choices, but, most importantly, you are dressing in style with a great tee that will survive the hot days and the cool temps in the air-conditioning.

If you want the comfort of a tee but want to be a bit more dressed up, then try this fun little number:

Bob Mackie's Floral Embroidered Knit T-shirt Dress is in just about every color of the rainbow, and each color has a different bouquet.

You can take my 'favorite flower' idea further by going to Bob’s Wearable Art collection on QVC.com to check out all the florals that he has done not only on t-shirts but also on blouses, skirts, and dresses as well. Is there one particular flower you like that Bob has not done yet? Tell me below in the comments section or join the discussion on Facebook, and I'll be sure to pass on all suggestions to Bob. Who knows…maybe you can be the one to inspires his next great creation Wink

Have a great week!

Best,

Margaux

Lisa's Vacation in Rome--the Final (Amazing!) Photos

Wow. Those Italians know how to live!

Last night I ordered lamb for dinner. I've never seen it look like this, but it was good. Great food and a beautiful view overlooking Rome…vacation is a good thing!

Adrienne and I are spending the entire day at the Vatican Museum and St. Peters Basilica. Here is Adrienne with our guide, Estelle. She’s one of the most knowledgeable guides I’ve ever known. The Roman Bath behind them is the same as the granite that makes my kitchen counters. I was very entertained by that.

Today we’re visiting the Vatican Museum. It’s the second most popular museum in the world, (after the Louvre). This is the Hall of Tapestries. I’ve always loved this ceiling; it’s so beautiful.

Instead of "when in Rome," this is "wet in Rome". The skies have opened up! Adrienne has gone high fashion with a poncho from a street vendor. We ducked into a church, hoping it would pass, but then they closed the church! We’re opting for dinner, but I think the rain will outlast our meal!

St. Peters Basillica

The first time I walked into St Peters Basilica, it made me cry. It was just after Christmas almost 20 years ago. A cold day in Rome and an almost empty St Peters made me feel even more how beautiful it was in the quiet. I could never tire of it. It is one of the most beautiful places on earth.

Our Focaccia is bread; their Focaccia is a whisper-light, white, almost cracker/tortilla-type thing with olive oil and fresh rosemary...heaven!!!!!

What?! Where did they come from?! Nice ring and bangle! They are going to be in the Vicenza remote on June 15. I'm test driving them. You know—it’s only to make sure they're okay for you, not because I love them. It’s just for you because I'm so dedicated. ;)

We walked by a bakery today as we were walking around Rome. This window blew my mind. This is a bakery. They make woodland creatures, carousels, and everything possible, all out of bread. Unbelievable! I never thought of bread as a form of visual art. I bet it tastes good too!

There were a number of requests for a picture of the Trevi Fountain, so here you go. It’s awe inspiring, I must admit. Anything Bernini had a hand in is beautiful. The legend is if, when you visit Rome, you throw a coin in the fountain, you will return.

Let’s Make a Vibrant Summer Statement!

It’s Summer and that means I’m pulling out the brights!  You all know I think luscious color is fabulous in any season, but Summer is my favorite time to bring out the juiciest, boldest hues!  Vibrant blues, reds, greens, and peaches always evoke the joy and happiness of Summer for me, and this week I can’t wait to introduce you to my collection of Summer brights in three fabulous shows, on Saturday, June 8 at 9:00 pm EST, Sunday, June 9 at 1:00 am EST, and Tuesday, June 11 at 1:00 pm EST.  I know I’m looking forward to Summer barbecues, weddings, and adventures, and in these three shows there will be colorful silhouettes that complement t-shirts, Summer dresses, and all of your favorite Summer styles and occasions.

And I have a very special surprise.  I’ve enjoyed seeing how necklaces like the Sincerely Fabulous necklace (J261439) and Sterling Heart Statement necklace (J273568) are truly able to transform your jewelry wardrobe and give new life to all of the enhancers in your collection.  You’ve shared on the QVC forum and on the Carolyn Pollack Facebook page how much you’ve loved pairing these necklaces with enhancers both old and new.  The styles are endless!

As the mixed metal trend has really taken off, I’ve been wanting to design a statement necklace that can work with ALL of the metals in your jewelry box.  The special statement necklace debuting this week does just that!  It’s elegant, it’s full of fabulous, feminine detail, and it looks simply stunning on its own too.  I look forward to hearing about all the fun you’ll have mixing and matching this necklace design with the mixed metal enhancers in your collection.

Summer has put a smile on my face, and spending time with you will make it even wider!  Join me on QVC on Saturday, June 8 at 9:00 pm EST, Sunday, June 9 at 1:00 am EST, and Tuesday, June 11 at 1:00 pm EST.  It will be a vibrant celebration of friendship!

Love,

Carolyn

Time for an upgrade! Treat yourself to a new HP laptop and get more out of your computer with these handy accessories.

With a super-fast quad-core processor, a whopping 8GB of RAM, and a vast 1TB hard drive, and a vibrant HD display, the E224520 HP Laptop is more than just a computer… it’s your window to the world. If you’re picking up this ultra-portable HP laptop, these accessories will let you get even more out of your new laptop.

If your home hasn’t gone wireless yet, now’s the time! It’s easy to take advantage of your laptop’s built-in Wi-Fi with the E222818 Belkin N150 Wireless Router. You don’t have to be a tech junkie to set it up; just plug the router into your modem, then plug it into the wall, and pop the CD into your laptop for a fast onscreen set-up—and you’re ready! Then you can fully enjoy your laptop’s wireless capabilities: update your social networks while you’re on the couch, check your favorite food blogs in the kitchen, and stream TV shows while you’re in bed.

If your family has a lot of electronic devices, then you know there are just never enough wall outlets in the house. Not to worry: the E222100 Pivot Power Flexible Surge Protector has six outlets perfect for all of those chargers, including the one for your new laptop. Just plug in the Pivot Power near your work area—you can bend and twist it to fit the space, if you need to—and a single outlet becomes six, letting you plug in your computer, phone, router, the kids’ gaming devices, or anything else that requires a charge.

If you prefer using a traditional mouse to your laptop’s touchpad, the E222556 Canon Bluetooth Slim Mouse is the way to go. It’s wireless, so it’s easy to transport and use on the go, but this mouse’s 3-in-1 functionality makes it extra special. It can be used as a numeric keypad, giving you more flexibility while you type, and it also works as a traditional calculator—and you never know when that might come in handy!

The great thing about having a laptop is being able to take it anywhere—trains, planes, the office, vacation, or anywhere else you might need it. But you’ve got to have a good case to keep it looking and working like new. The E223698/E223699 SlipIt! Case does just that—simply choose the one that matches your laptop’s size, and you’ll have a heavy-duty case that keeps your computer safe from bumps and scratches. Plus, there’s plenty of room for accessories, so you can throw your charger and mouse in the bag, too. Or you could use the included ClickIt! Wireless Mouse and switch out its lid color to suit your mood.

Even with the roomy hard drive of your HP laptop, you need to back up your files. Not only will this free up more space on your computer (so you can save even more photos of the kids and download more music), but it protects those irreplaceable media files, giving you peace of mind. The E224366 Clickfree External Hard Drive gives you 750GB of back-up storage, letting you save thousands of photos, songs, videos, documents, and so much more. And since it’s PC and Mac-compatible, the Clickfree makes it a snap to store and transfer files from multiple computers.

What do you think of these accessories for your new HP laptop? What else would you recommend? Be sure to share your thoughts in the comments!

Remembering Jeanne

I can’t believe that it’s already June and that summer is officially about to begin!

Jeanne Bice celebrated every day and every season of the year – but I know that she particularly loved summertime because it meant that Quackers all over the good old US of A could enjoy some of the sunshine she enjoyed all year round in Florida.  She also loved celebrating the summer holidays of Memorial Day, 4th of July, and Labor Day.  These holidays provided more wonderful excuses for Jeanne to redecorate her entire house and to share her sunny disposition with all of her friends around her pool, and in her gorgeous kitchen.

It’s hard to believe that this month marks two years since our beloved Jeanne joined the angels in heaven.  There is not a single day that passes by when I don’t think of her and all of the joy she brought to each of us.  Like all of you, I miss her madly and wish that I could magically make her appear on TV again so that we could invite her into our living rooms just one more time.  Her laugh was infectious and that smile of hers could light up an entire city.  And those expressions and comments she could come up with had us all rolling on the floor often times!  She was certainly an original!!!

I wanted to share with you some of the pictures of Jeanne that you might not have ever seen.  When I look at all of these, my heart fills with joy and happiness.

Here’s a picture of Jeanne when she was just a baby.   This was taken in 1939.  As Jeanne herself would say – “How stinking cute” is that?!  I particularly LOVE her hairstyle – perfect in every way.

And here’s another picture you might not have seen when Jeanne was just a little girl.  How adorable is that?!   It’s certainly no wonder that she grew up to be the Queen of TV Shopping!

But I have to tell you that this next picture is one of my favorites.  You can tell that Jeanne was entering womanhood.  She is absolutely stunning in this picture – and you can really tell that fashion and style meant a lot to her – and that her destiny was already taking shape.

One of my favorite memories of Jeanne is that she certainly had a way with words.  You never knew what she was likely to say next – or how she would express it!  As she wrote in ‘Pull Yourself Up by Your Bra Straps’- “I have always had a BIG MOUTH.  My husband (Butch) used to say I was the only woman he knew with calluses on both ankles from putting my foot in my mouth so often!”

Here’s a picture of Jeanne and Butch on their wedding day in June 1959 – what a beautiful couple they were.

They spent 22 wonderful years married before Butch passed away – and during that time they brought two beautiful children into the world.

After Butch’s passing, Jeanne packed up the car and took Tim and Lee to Florida where they would begin their new life with a fresh start.   And boy, what an amazing journey and fresh start it was going to be!

As we all know, Jeanne started designing and making her fun, happy, whimsical and distinctive line of clothing at this time and was selling them at local flea markets and boutiques.  It was also at this time that Quacker Factory got its name.  One day she was having a particularly hectic day when her son Tim walked in and heard her say: “This business is driving me quackers!”  Tim exclaimed, “Mom, that’s it!  We’re the Quacker Factory!”

Here’s a picture of Jeanne working her magic at one of those flea markets with some of the 1st ever Quacker Factory items.  You can see that she was already wearing one of her signature headbands at that time:

It was shortly afterwards in 1993 or 1994 that Jeanne happened to find QVC on her television.  She watched a while and said “I can do that!”  And as we all know, the rest is history!  Jeanne and her clothing won the 50-50 tour and we were blessed to watch her on our screens for over 16 glorious years!   As she always said, she couldn’t have done it without Tim and Lee.  Here’s one of my favorite photos of the three of them – what a beautiful family:

And lookie here – here’s a picture of Jeanne on her first appearance on QVC!!!  Does anyone know who that is with her?!

And here’s a picture of Jeanne in her favorite DreamJeanne design that she brought to QVC – the Leggings style.  This was taken in the fall of 2010.  Doesn’t she look Quack-Tabulous in her DreamJeannes?!

Speaking of DreamJeannes, so many of you have written to both Angel and me and told us that one of your favorite things that Jeanne brought to Quacker Factory and QVC were the DreamJeannes.  I do hope that you’ll join both Angel and me on Thursday the 20th of June for a very special day at QVC.  Angel will be kicking off the day at midnight (hint, hint!) with a wonderful NEW DreamJeanne item that Jeanne would have LOVED!

Of course, my favorite picture of all time is this one of Jeanne and me on the 2006 Quacker Cruise.  Two days after the cruise, Jeanne called me in London to say that she had enjoyed meeting me and spending the week together on the cruise – and she told me that she wanted me to go on air for her in the UK on QVC and represent Quacker Factory.  As you can imagine, I was in shock!  Her dream of having me on QVC didn’t happen until after she passed, but I know that she knows, and is watching from heaven – and that makes me smile from ear to ear.  Angel and I always say to each other that it’s pretty amazing that Jeanne asked and chose us both to carry on her dream – we both think we’re probably the luckiest two people in the world – and we are so grateful that each of you has welcomed us into your life’s as well.  Thank you for the bottom of our hearts for this – it is quite an honor to be able to continue Jeanne’s legacy.

Whenever I begin to feel just a little bit sad that Jeanne has left us, I close my eyes and imagine what heaven looks like now that she is there.  Can you just imagine what she did when she arrived – you KNOW that she designed every angel new embellished and super sparkly wings with more bling on them then heaven has ever seen!!!!  I sure do wish they gave out one-day visitor passes to heaven – because I would love to see what our Jeanne has created up there!!!!

I hope you all have a wonderful start to your summer.  And when you wake up each day, remember what Jeanne said:

“Love yourself as you are right this moment.  Look for all the good about and love it- love it lots!”

‘See’ you all on Thursday the 20th of June!

Quacker Hugs & Love From Across The Pond,

Patrick

Goodbye & Thank You from Dave James

I’m really doing my best to not type out a cheesy goodbye & thank you blog as I’m letting you know that I’ve left QVC. But I have to admit that the sentiments I want to express in this short passage are as giant as any gouda wheel I’ve seen in the deli.

Simply put, I will miss you. To my QVC colleagues, friends, and co-workers, I know we’ll stay in touch and maintain a friendship outside of the "Q", so I’m not worried about us saying goodbye. And to all the “Q” viewer friends I’ve made along the way, your viewership, phone calls, emails, Facebook posts, and tweets have been a grand on-going conversation that I’ve loved through the years —you are diverse, opinionated, and strong! I’ve loved meeting every one of you who took the time to chat with me on QVC. You may not realize this but, if you’ve thought of me in your life, rest assured, I thought of you in mine too. I’m humbled and grateful for your viewership.

I want to take this moment to say, “thank you for watching" and "Roll Tide!"

Uncork the Possibilities

Imagine for a moment, that every time you sat down for a meal … it was chicken. For the rest of your life ...... no steak, no fish, no burgers, not even new ways to ‘spice up’ the chicken! Just… Chicken.

Your taste buds would go on strike!

Let’s face it, when it comes to the fabulous World of food, Variety is indeed, the spice of life.

And yet (according to Bryan Dougherty, Wine Expert and QVC Guest) when it comes to the Wonderful World of Wine, 80% of the population goes back to the same white wine … every time. It’s an Oenophile’s worst nightmare!

The time has come to uncork your creative juices. It’s time to drink deeply from the glass of Fun, and dive into the deep end of ‘the pool of possibilities’ that Wine has to offer.

Consider the current While Supplies Last offer from Vintage Wine Estates. It’s a truly unique configuration and anything but boring. There’s a Classic ‘Big Cabernet’, and a light, yet complex, Pinot Noir.

And for anyone wanting to ‘take a break’ from Chardonnay, this offer will turn your pallet into a playground!

The Belle Ame Muscato has a fragrant bouquet, and displays aromas characteristic of sage and citrus fruit, which gives way to distinct notes of peach and orange blossoms.

The California Coast Sauvignon Blanc is rich with aromas of tropical fruit such as papaya and pineapple, followed by delicate floral notes. The aromatic fruitiness continues onto a generous, full-bodied palate that is wonderfully fresh and lively. A dynamic finish ends on a subtle note of crisp fruit.

These wines are so tasty, they may even make Chicken seem like a Brand new dish! :)

Cheers!

Rick

YIKES ... my foundation doesn’t match my skin tone.

$

I think we have all been there. You catch a glimpse of yourself in natural light and realize the foundation you thought was your perfect shade wasn’t a match at all, and I am no different.

I’ve tried foundations that made me look orange, made me look like a ghost, made me look dusty and like I needed a good scrub. When it comes to getting the color right, I’ve been told to match my chin, my cheeks, even the inside of my arm.

Over the years, I’ve even had a few people suggest I go a shade lighter than my complexion--still, others said to go a shade darker than my complexion. Argh! How is one to know and how to get it right?!

In the end, like most women, all I want is foundation coverage that evens out my skintone and looks natural.

That’s why I was so excited when I heard Ashunta Sheriff was coming to QVC. She’s a celebrity make-up artist with an impressive clientele list. But, in addition, she shared an interesting point of view that really got my attention. She said, “No one’s skin is just one color”. That’s the “foundation” for her foundation.

Ashunta created a foundation that can be customized to give you the perfect flawless finish with a natural looking application. And, she created colors for women of varying hues.

I can’t wait to meet her and learn more. She’ll be making her QVC debut in AM Beauty, tomorrow (Saturday) morning at 7:00 a.m. EST.

If you have been searching for foundation that looks like “you”, you might just want to grab a cup of coffee (or tea) and "join" us at 7am for AM Beauty.

"See" you Saturday!

Leah

What's the Best Barbecue You've Ever Had? Ribs? Chicken? Brisket?

$

Hello, foodies…

Portland, check. Chesapeake City, check. Where are we headed next on our In the Kitchen with David virtual road trip? Memphis! Now, you might remember I was in Memphis not two weeks ago. Corky’s Jimmy Stovall (who just so happens to be joining us this Sunday with a brand-new pulled chicken & wings assortment!) invited me down for the Memphis BBQ Festival and I was NOT about to miss that.

So, foodies, how can you make award-winning, Southern-style barbecue at home? Here’s 2013 Grand Champion, Chris Lilly, from Big Bob Gibson's Bar-B-Q of Decatur, Alabama.

Of course, you can also pick up Corky’s pulled pork here at QVC and try Sunday’s recipe…my Pulled Pork Melt!

Pulled Pork Melt

Pulled Pork Melt

This recipe is prepared with the Corky’s BBQ (5) 1-lb Rib Racks w/1-lb Pulled Pork & Bonus 1-lb Pork (M26474).

Go to David's Recipe Item Page for the full list of items that David has used in his recipes.

Ingredients:
8 slices Texas-style toast
4 Tbsp butter, softened
1 lb pulled pork
1 cup barbecue sauce
2 cups prepared coleslaw
16 slices Colby Jack cheese

Directions:

Preheat the oven to 350°F. Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper.

Combine the pulled pork and barbecue sauce in a medium-size saucepan. Warm the mixture over low heat for about 15 minutes, stirring often to prevent burning.

Butter one side of each slice of bread and place it, butter-side down, on the prepared cookie sheet. Top four of the bread slices with two slices of cheese and 1/2 cup pulled pork. Top the pulled pork with a 1/2 cup of coleslaw and then two additional slices of cheese. Place the second slice of bread, butter-side up, on top of the cheese. Press down slightly.

Heat a griddle over medium-low heat. Place the sandwiches on the griddle and cover with a cookie sheet or grill press. Cook on each side for 4–5 minutes, or until a toasty, golden brown. Then, place the sandwiches on a cookie sheet and bake for about 10 minutes.

Foodies, I can’t WAIT for Sunday when I get to eat another one of these sandwiches. When Chef Lynn and I tried the “test” recipe last week, I thought I died and went to barbecue heaven. I know you’ll agree.

Time for your blog question. What’s the best barbecue you’ve ever had? Ribs? Chicken? Brisket? And, who made it? You? A local restaurant? I think the best barbecue I’ve ever eaten was the pork I roasted for some 250 people back in college. I went out and bought a pig from a local farmer, took it home in my car, and then cooked it on a spit for hours. After that mountain of effort, it was the best thing I’ve ever eaten…and I think it always will be. “See you in Memphis” this Sunday at Noon ET.

Keep it flavorful!

Purse-onality: The Essential Bag

Day1What's your Purse-onality? I own this Tignanello bag in three colors, and I want to show you how it can go anywhere, all week long. The papaya color is the latest in my collection, and I will show you everywhere this bag has taken me this week.

Day 2 of showing off my Purse-onality, and the journey for my Tignanello bag continues! So far today, we've been to meetings at the Q, food shopping, and to kindergarten to pick up my daughter.

Day 3 of my Purse-onality adventures is coming to a close. My Tignanello bag came with me to the doctors office for my daughter's annual check up. Here is my bag in the waiting room with my doctor's office essentials: Our own book, educational games, and a stuffed animal so that the kids don't want to touch any of the stuff in the waiting room.

Day 4This is my fourth day carrying my Tignanello bag and today's journey took me to QVC! I am preparing for my shows tonight and I love that I can even throw in an extra pair of shoes should I need them.

Day5 My Tig bag and I out to the movies!

This makes me feel ORGANIZED when I use it.  I love to take it EVERYWHERE because it fits ALL OF THE ESSENTIALS that I can't live without.

It looks best with JEANS  because of the BUCKLES AND BRAIDED DETAIL.  Overall, this purse fits into my BUSY life because I truly have a PLACE FOR EVERYTHING!

The Wishful Dish is Heading Straight Into Summer!

With Father's Day around the corner, I wanted to make sure that some items would get there on time for the big day.  The Wishful Dish is always on Mondays at 5pm, so if it's frozen, it will get there by Friday (and that means Father's Day!).

My Friday Night Meal also makes a great Father's Day gift.  Who doesn't like steakburgers from Kansas City Steak Company?  Well, the burgers are really easy to prepare, and I wanted a great side dish to go with it.  So, this week I asked Greg Shockley, from Kansas City Steak Company to share one of his favorite sides to go with the burgers.  A really good German Potato Salad is a beautiful thing, and here is his recipe:

German Potato Salad

2 pounds red bliss potato cut into cubes or wedges

1/2 pound cooked bacon and reserve drippings

1/4 cup cider vinegar

1/8 cup sugar

1 small white onion diced

1 small bunch fresh parsley chopped

1 small bunch fresh dill chopped

1/2 tsp dry mustard

1/2 cup thawed frozen peas

salt and pepper to taste

Directions..

Cut potatoes into large pieces. Boil the potatoes until they are fork tender, drain and place into a bowl.  Cook the bacon in the pan until it’s brown and crispy. Remove the bacon from the pan and add the diced onion to the bacon drippings (this is your secret ingredient for extra flavor!).  Once the onion is browned, add the onion and bacon drippings to the potatoes.  In a separate bowl, add the vinegar, sugar, dry mustard, dill and parsley and mix it until it’s combined.   Add these ingredients to the potatoes and mix.  Add the peas and season to taste with salt and pepper.  Yummy!

A quick tip:  For great flavor, don’t worry about it being chilled.  The texture is fantastic at room temperature.  So, you can leave this out at the barbecue for hours and be fine!

Also, in every show we try to have one new item at an awesome price, and this week it goes to Hollywood Gourmet Dogs!  To check out the offer on these all-beef hot dogs, you can click here.

Remember, the price will only be valid until the end of the day on Monday, but you can see it here before everyone else does!  I'm looking forward to you stopping on Monday at 5pm!

Thank You

I would like to take a moment and thank everyone for tuning in to our first JAI John Hardy show this past Thursday, May 30th.  As you can imagine, a lot of our heart and soul goes into the entire process of bringing an inspiration to life.

The creative process begins nearly a year before each collection is launched, which includes sharing inspirations with our artisan’s, sourcing beautiful gemstones, and presenting our designs to the teams at QVC.  Just like a great recipe, it takes time to perfect each collection.  Scale, composition, harmony, and beautiful gemstones are some of the key elements that I consider when curating each piece.  Most importantly, the special relationship I have working with each of our JAI artisan’s allows us to bring these amazing wearable works of art to each of you.

Yet, it is not until that red light on the QVC camera goes off at the end of the show that I can reflect on the entire process.  This is when I will know if you loved the designs as much as we loved creating them for you.

Your response to last Thursday’s show exceeded our wildest expectations!  I don’t know what got me more excited:  introducing the new collections on air with Jill, or calling the next day to our lead JAI artisan to tell him the amazing news of the great sell-out show.  I wanted to take a moment to let you know how completely overjoyed and humbled our artisans were by your response towards the collections.  So, on behalf of the entire JAI and QVC teams, please accept our gratitude for embracing our designs, inspirations, and spirit.

Thank you to everyone who hosted a JAI Soiree during the show.  I’m looking forward to making each of our shows an interactive and fun experience for everyone.  What better way to spend an evening:  great friends, delicious drinks, and beautiful jewelry!

I will send out our invite before our next show on June 25th with recipes for some new Thai-inspired mocktails, so don’t forget to mark your calendars!  Please take a moment to ‘like’ our JAI Facebook page and stay connected to all things JAI John Hardy Jewelry.

I look forward to hearing your thoughts, requests, and feedback as you start to embrace and enjoy our JAI Jewelry.  I truly believe we can create beautiful works of wearable art as we travel and explore the Far East together.

Safe Travels,

Scott Grimes

Sandra’s Pick Me: Time In A Bottle!

Last week, I had meeting with the women who choose which philosophy products come to QVC.  As soon as I sat down, I could tell they were very excited.  As it turns out, they had a good reason to be thrilled! Philosophy is launching one of its most exciting anti-aging products of the year and you can learn about it first on QVC!

The new product, called time in a bottle, is an age-defying serum that was created to address the appearance of signs of aging on the skin’s surface. It helps the look of lines and wrinkles, skin tone, skin texture and smoothness, and radiance and luminosity.  It also was developed for adults of all ages, including those experiencing their first fine lines and those bothered by some of the more advanced signs of aging.

As someone who uses a lot of different types of skincare, my first question was “How does it work?  In order to keep the key ingredients as fresh as possible, you mix it yourself right before the first time you use it. It’s easy. Just pour the vitamin c activator into the serum and shake. You’ll see the serum change to a rosy pink color, which is the signal that it is ready to use. In order to get the best results from this product, you should use the entire bottle within three months. Apply it to clean skin and then put on your favorite moisturizer.

Although you may think of philosophy as a brand that brings you great fragrance and delicious smelling bath gels, the company actually started decades ago as a an anti-aging skincare line.  This new product, time in a bottle, is part of philosophy’s mission to constantly bring us new breakthroughs in skincare science. Right now, time in a bottle, is available on advanced order. It will ship the week of June 26th. I’m already a huge fan of philosophy’s other products that work to help brighten the skin, including the microdelivery brightening peel pads, the turbo booster c powder, and the 2-pc. vitamin C microdelivery peel (which I have been using consistently for 9 years!) So, based on the good results I’ve had with these products, I can’t wait to start using time in a bottle. Do you think you will give it a try?

“Sandra’s Pick Me!” is part of a blog series about products that I am currently using or can’t wait to use. Please leave your comment below or join the discussion on my Facebook page. Have a great week!
