I am always so excited to see another COOKING ON Q DAY pop up on my QVC Programming Guide!! I LOVE our kitchen Shows and am usually glued to the TV for most of the day to see what's new and exciting for my own kitchen!! QVC's COOKING ON Q/SPRING EDITION is coming up on March 10th and I'm super thrilled to be scheduled on the day to host a big 2-Hour Kitchen Unlimited with Carolyn from 9-11am and then a full HOUR of Temp-tations, with our girl, Tara McConnell, at 11am, just ahead of In The Kitchen with David!

While meeting with our Buying Team about what items will be featured in my Temp-tations show (WOW...we have an AWESOME lineup... with everything from our big 24 piece Old World set, to super cute figurals, to accessory sets, condiments sets, polka dots, floral lace and MORE!!!) .....it started me thinking about my own Temptations collection and I realized....I'm A 'NISTA TOO!! :)  "NISTA" if course, is the fond nickname that our Miss Tara has coined for the gals who call themselves, "Temptation-istas". They are avid collectors of our cute and pretty, functional and easy, fabulous ceramic oven-to-table wear, designed by Tara, called Temp-tations! The brand has become a PHENOM at the Q, and for so many reasons! Chiefly, we love how pretty it is and how functional, and how easy to clean, and how well it bakes and keeps our food, and how wonderful it looks on our tables! It's also, P.S and By-the-Way.....VERY affordable. So, I took a quick inventory of my own favorite pieces, many of which are always on display in my kitchen when not being used, and wanted to share a few with you!

These two photos are from my kitchen. Do you spy anything familiar?

Please share photos of your collection as well!

Tuesday, February 19th– LA Bound

Nothing gets you more motivated to hop on a plane for California than a cold West Chester, PA morning. There are 4 of us driving to the airport together today. Myself, Brian (director), Carrie (Coordinating Producer) and Lisa Robertson. The drive goes quickly as the four of us talk about looking forward to the warm weather, comedians, and theater. Even though it is very early, everybody is excited about the week ahead of us.

A quick (okay, not so quick) 6 hour flight and we're in Los Angeles! The sun is shining and the weather is beautifully warm. The four of us (and Courtney Cason, who we met up with on the plane) make our way over to the famed Four Seasons at Beverley Hills. This is where the show on Friday will be taking place and the various crews are already hard at work to give it the Red Carpet treatment.

While at the Four Seasons, I begin prepping for Friday's show. After meeting with the show's Coordinating Producer, Mike, and getting a quick tour – I dive right in to unpacking all of the product that will be used in the show on Friday.  It's my first look at all of the fabulous Red Carpet Fashions that will be in the show and I couldn't be more excited.  Friday's show has some great products in it.

Wednesday, February 20th  - Prep, Prep, Prep!

With only two days until the big show, the entire crew on set is extremely busy today. Lights are hung, furniture and props are brought into the set, and cameras are set up. My main goal today is to organize and prepare product for Lisa’s and Amy's meetings with guests tomorrow.

My BFF for the day is a clothing steamer that I become very well acquainted with. Together, we get all of the fashion items in the show looking amazing. After that I get to unbox and prime all of the beauty and jewelry products which is always fun for me. I love seeing all the new beauty products!  I also take the time to mark Lisa’s and Amy's  product cards so they will be all set for their meetings with the guests.

Thursday, February 21st– Meetings and Greetings

We're officially in crunch time! Today, all of the guests for the show make their way to the hotel to meet with Lisa and Amy and go over everything.  With all the cameras in place, rehearsals with the crew begin.

Also, the models make their way to the set for the very first time and try on all of the looks they will be wearing during the show. After their fittings, they have a run through with Theresa – the model coordinator. Theresa breaks down where the models will be, and the moves they will be doing during the show. Since many of the models are new to the Q, they get a crash course in QVC style modeling.

The show starts coming together and excitement is building. Tomorrow is the big day!

Friday, February 22nd– Red Carpet Ready!

It's finally here! The day of the big show! It's another busy day with a lot of last minute details to take care of. Hair and makeup stations are set up for the models. Stylists from the Drybar salon and makeup artists from Stila give our models gorgeous makeovers and get them show ready.

Meanwhile outside, final touches are put on our Red Carpet and sets. Everything looks amazing. Final rehearsals are held with various members of the crew standing in for our hosts and guests. I even get to sit in for Lisa for a few minutes. Although, the director has to keep reminding the camera operators that Lisa will be much taller than my 4'11” self.  Microphones and headsets are given a final test to make sure everything is in perfect condition for the show.

I glue down displays for the beauty products and give Lisa and Amy's cards a final look through to make sure they have all of the information that they need. As guests start to trickle in, excitement builds. The set is ready, the crew is ready, and I'm ready. Lets get this show started!

My First Month with Jericho

Being a mom is hard work.  I thought that I was prepared.  I read all the books, logged on to all the websites and even took several classes to prepare for the arrival of our baby.  What I have learned after one month of motherhood is that nothing can fully prepare you for the arrival of a newborn.

Jericho Leilani Kerr was born on January 14th, 2013 at 9:58am.  She weighed 8lbs 2oz and measured 21 inches long.  My little girl entered the world quietly with a full head of curly black hair and the largest cheeks I have ever seen.  The first week was one of the toughest and scariest.  Just three days out of the hospital and Jericho had a slight fever and didn’t want to nurse, so I placed the first of several calls to her pediatrician.

I was in tears after Jericho’s first doctor visit.  Her pediatrician explained that when a newborn has a fever/cold they automatically must be admitted to the hospital because they are so fragile.  Fortunately Jericho’s fever broke before it got to the point of needing hospitalization but I was a nervous wreck!  Thankfully my mother moved in to help with the baby (hers and mine!).  What a blessing!  Without her support I would be so overwhelmed and exhausted.  I’ve learned so much just from watching my mom handle Jericho.  From the way she holds her, how she burps her, how she soothes her and most importantly how she gets her to go to sleep.  For the first few weeks Jericho slept all day and partied all night.  Her grandmother was able to flip her schedule in one day.  Now Jericho sleeps several hours through the night and everyone is able to get much more rest.

My husband has been a great support as well.  He’s changed plenty of diapers, and volunteered for many an overnight feeding.  I can always count on him to pick up Jericho when she is fussy to calm her down.  If he’s not holding the baby he’s holding a camera to take pictures of the baby.  Jericho is already a daddy’s girl and loves to smile and coo at her father and ham it up for the camera!

Overall my first month of motherhood has been a rollercoaster, highs and lows.  But the lows are fleeting and the highs are some of the sweetest things I’ve ever known.  My heart melts when I feel Jericho’s tiny arms grip me tight when I walk with her, when I smell her sweet breath and when she cuddles up into my shoulder.  I love her so much and just want her to be happy.  This experience has given me a new appreciation for mothers, especially my own.  I want to say thank you to everyone that offered up advice, support and prayers for my family.  I appreciate every kind word and when Jericho is a little older I hope to introduce her to the QVC family on air.  In the meantime I’m going to enjoy my last few weeks with Jericho before I return to work on April 10th.  Keep up with me and Jericho on Facebook and I’ll see you soon!

Spring Has Almost Sprung!

There may be snow on the ground in parts of the country, yet don’t you love it when you leave work and it’s still light out? Or even better when you get home and it’s still light out? When I see the buds start peeking out from the ground (even between the snow) I know Spring is just around the corner. And…Spring means warmer weather and warmer weather means it’s swimsuit time!!!!

The past few months have been really busy for me. I’m not only busy at work designing like crazy but also helping my son, a senior in high school, figure out which college he wants to attend. Yikes what a process! Have you gone through this with your children too?

Luckily, we did squeeze some time in to go skiing out West. The best part of skiing is, is the “Après” activity, soaking in a hot tub after a day on the slopes. There were lots of us in the hot tub and I got to show off many of my latest Fit 4 U designs and better yet, get feedback from the other women.

Hearing from you has always been so important to me because it’s how I build the Fit 4 U collections. I receive hundreds of postcards, letters, emails and posts asking me questions or sharing ideas. As a matter of fact, Fit 4 U has a mini fan club in Florida. A group of lovely women in the Sunshine State, who are big fans, get together and share ideas with me. It is so fabulous to hear firsthand what they have to say. One of the things they love the best about my designs is that they provide ultimate coverage and comfort.

I can’t wait to introduce my 1st Fit 4 U TSV because I know everyone will love the fact that it does that and more. So get ready for something really special that I know everyone is going to love! Tune in March 11th beginning at midnight. But first, we begin Daylight Savings Time this weekend... so don't forget to spring forward!

Because Fit 4 U conducts fit clinics around the country, I want to bring the same experience to you.  Look for my new “Fit 4 U Fridays” posts on Facebook at Fit 4 U/Innovative Swim Solutions, where I’ll be sharing solutions to problems that I receive from you. Think of me as your personal CFO…Chief Fit Officer. I can’t wait to hear your pet peeve about buying a swimsuit. What’s your biggest fit issue?

just went to friends wedding in snow country and she named each table after things like, "bobsled" and "ski". so cute
(Ugh but the seating chart...what a challenge that is. Did you struggle w that too?)

A Head-to-Toe Look Just For You!

Hi Kids! I’m so excited to have been a part of Spring Fashion Days at QVC on Monday. I thought it would be really fun to share a special head-to-toe outfit I love, using some NEW Spring items from my QVC collection!

First of all, this tee (A230580). It’s a wardrobe essential. It comes in four wonderful spring hues plus black and white, and with the chiffon detail, it goes just a little more feminine and flirty than your other tees.

A230580

Pair it with anything from trousers to cropped pants to a maxi skirt, but what I’m really loving it with is this straight skirt (A230153). It’s a really fresh length and the stretch gives it that wear-all-day comfort.

Now that we have the staples covered, let’s add some really good accessories. A printed pashmina scarf is a good place to start (A220856). It’s also large enough to wear as a wrap if you need a light something to throw over your shoulders.

Now of course, how I could not include this seriously gorgeous Bridgehampton tote (A230530).

A230530

I’m so happy all of you are loving this new line of bags, they are really beautiful. This tote is a perfect size for everyday use. It’s chic in every color.

My ceramic watch is a great accessory to add to this outfit (J158222). It’s so sophisticated and expensive-looking. It’s also so durable. I can’t pick just one color I love. You should really buy more than one. It’s that good.

Finally, let's finish the outfit with my signature driving moc (A215580).

A215580

I LOVE the patent leather and that bow detail is amazing. The taupe is a great neutral, but why not try it in my favorite color, pink, of course!

Thanks for joining me for Fashion Day and hope you tune in next Monday. Bye for now!

Enjoy The Outdoors With Jane

So - I was called in for a meeting a few months back and was told QVC wanted to do a gardening show with me.  I started laughing and then stopped when I realized they were serious. Gardening?? Me??  Seriously??  Are you sure you didn’t mean Carolyn Gracie?!  I mean I am far from a gardener, even a good one, but then they said, “but, you love to entertain outdoors, you love to tell stories about gardening with your Dad, and how your Mom loved certain flowers”…..so I said ok, sure!

We are calling it, Enjoy The Outdoors With Jane and we are asking the experts to help us make the outdoors decorative and inviting and have plants that are (to quote the Roberta's team) "too dumb to die!" Honestly, when I started decorating our back deck with solar lights, we started spending more time outdoors. I love putting them in containers filled with plants, because they are pretty during the day and when the sun goes down. It’s so cool that now you can walk from your home that is accented with so many pretty things, and go outside where it is just as finished. I especially like the way mats and rugs finish the space outdoors, and did I say I am obsessed with solar lights?!

My Dad always had an amazing vegetable garden. Some of my earliest memories are gardening with Dad. I know we will never grow the tomatoes like he did, but we do basil and tomatoes in a little garden outside the back door and I think of him when we pick the sun-ripened tomatoes.

My youngest daughter Deirdre seems to have inherited the gardening gene.

Flowers also meant so much to my Mom, so the daffodils, lilacs, and peonies of spring and summer bring her back to me too. And my late father-in-law from Ireland was a landscaper, so my husband honors his memory with beautiful flowers and shrubs. See that’s my other secret, a husband who loves to garden!

So get ready to share memories, to learn, to find something new, and enjoy the outdoors with me in our first show ever on Saturday March 9th at 10pm eastern!

Coffee Around the Clock with Keurig

$

QVC is a 24-hour-a-day operation. Like hospitals, hotels, production plants, police and fire departments, and some restaurants, someone is always up and working. And when it comes to coffee, a cup should be just as flavorful and delicious for those working late-late nights as it is for those who are here during the day. Which is why the coffee maker set-up for QVC hosts and guests is a Keurig.

Long before we began offering Kuerig home-use coffee makers on air, we had a Keurig professional coffee system in the studio. It made perfect sense. With people wanting coffee all day and night, we never worried about a wasted pot sitting around for hours getting bitter and burned. There were never any messy pots to wash, or grounds and filters to toss. And because not everyone is a coffee drinker, it helped that the Keurig was great for tea and other hot beverages.

If you ask some of our hosts and guests, they will tell you, “drinking coffee wakes me up”, or “I love the taste of a fresh brewed cup”, or “it gives me energy” or, “it goes really well with the donuts“. Now if you ask what time of day they enjoy their cup of java, it could be morning, noon, or night! Which is why the Keurig is perfect -- a single cup at a time made to order.

So, if you want to see what our hosts and guests love so much about a Keurig Coffee maker, join me Sunday at 8:00 a.m. for a full hour of Keurig during our 24-hour Cooking on Q Event.

By the way, I love the smell of coffee, but I don’t drink it. Tea is my hot beverage of choice. And for my early morning shift I’ll be in at 4:00 a.m. Bring on the Keurig...pleeease!

What is your favorite K-cup?

Hi QVC Handbag lovers! Some of you may have seen me already on-air during Inspired Style with Amy Stran a few weeks back (I introduced you to my line with my Large Halley Satchel). If you missed this airing or when I was on during the Designer Fashion Preview show on 2/8 (with my Large Halley Tote and my Lucy Satchel), you can see me tomorrow, 3/7, at 11PM ET with some really great NEW designs!

In the meantime, I wanted you all to get to know me a little better and see what a normal day is like in my world. Here are a few pics that I snapped this past weekend:

cupcake stop with my Halley Messenger bag

Nothing I love more than cupcakes! Taking a little break to catch up with a friend and can’t wait to order my favorite Vanilla crème cupcake! I usually try and eat quite healthy but sometimes it's just got to be broken! I am wearing the Halley convertible messenger (preview alert!) in Tie Dye Python and gold hardware, the perfect color for my outfit that day and a great bag to dress up or down depending on the outfit you match it with.

morning coffee with my Katie Hobo

I am quite the coffee addict--my first move once I leave home for the day is a stop at Oren’s coffee house in NYC. I love going there because the staff are always really friendly and they carry many different organic coffee beans from all over the world. Choices, choices, choices! Wearing my Katie hobo (tune in tomorrow to see it presented!) in the Olive with burnished rose gold. The perfect bag for a casual outfit. I love wearing this bag with my black leather jacket, a white or neutral t-shirt and blue denim jeans.

hanging out with Dylan and Callie

lunch with Brian with my Aimee Tote

Hanging out with the gorgeous Dylan and Callie, daughters of my good friends whom own a restaurant named GALLI in Soho in New York City and then met my friend Brian for lunch! If you are in NYC and love Italian food, Galli is a must! Ask for the meatballs! They are one of my favorites. :)

hailing a cab with my Aimee Tote

There is nothing more New York than trying to grab a taxi during peak hour! I am off to my design studio with my Aimee tote in the Jade green. I love how much this color POPS! I am excited to show you all this bag on my show tomorrow!

shopping with my Sarah Satchel

Doing what I do best…SHOPPING! If you are looking for unique and interesting boutique designer stores head down to the Lower East Side. They have some fantastic hidden gems! A day of shopping for me always calls for my Sarah satchel (see it tomorrow!). It is the perfect sized satchel and lightweight for all my handbag needs. I am wearing it today in the Salmon color. Love this color for Spring.

catching up with friends

Out to meet friends to catch up and get ready for my Spring photo shoot. Stay tuned for the behind-the-scenes images in an upcoming blog! The girls are wearing the Halley crossbody bag in the Jade, the Aimee tote in the Jade and I am wearing the Halley convertible messenger in the tie dye python.

I can't wait to be back on-air tomorrow night! I promise to keep you updated with more behind-the-scenes pics and stories in the upcoming weeks.

Now that you've seen a sneak peek of some of the bags from my collection, let me know in the comments below which one you are the most excited to see presented!

Temp-tations - the gift that keeps on giving

$

It was a simple email that came in from a friend.  Someone we both knew casually needed some help.  Her husband was fighting cancer and she was struggling to keep the family together, the kids thriving, and her world from collapsing.  The idea was to get a big group of people together and sign up for one or two night a week to deliver food to the family during the six months her husband would be going through treatment.  There is a program on line that helps organize and track who is delivering what meal when, it’s as simple as that.  What wasn’t simple for me was the actual cooking part.  Of course I wanted to help and I signed up right away but I have never been great in the kitchen, it’s my huband’s department. I was tempted to have food delivered on my assigned night but I knew it wouldn’t be special.  So, yes, I had my husband help do the cooking, but I was able to put my touch on the meal by what it went home in.

If you have ever watched a Temp-tations presentation you know how pretty the ceramic cookware is and you know that the beauty is highlighted by the fact that you can prep, cook, serve and store all in one. You can microwave, bake, and freeze in it. Its dishwasher safe and I like to add one more; it makes a simple dinner a memory.   The fact that the price for Temp-tations is so low, for so many pieces makes it possible to gift it. We (well hubby did most but I taste tested) prepared a lovely pasta with Turkey sauce dish and salad for the family and served it a gorgeous old world blue lasagna dish.  Because I paid around seven dollars per piece I had no problems writing a little note along with the meal that said “keep the dish.”  It looked like a 50 dollar ceramic piece of art and maybe it would mean something to a woman who was watching her husband suffer.

I often think about where that dish is now and how that family is doing.  I didn’t know them well and I haven’t seen them since.  But, every time I am baking brownies (my specialty) in the matching old world blue pieces I wonder where the missing piece is now.  Since my daughters turned three we have spent more time together in the kitchen.  They love to help pour the oil or stir the ingredients.  They flip on the oven light and put their prefect little faces up to the glass to see how their creation is coming together.  I always shied away from cooking, but I’ve found that having someone to teach, even if it’s just how to open a box and pour the ingredients, makes it more memorable.  Having the right pretty pieces to cook in is like icing on the cake - Or in my case brownies.   I’m thankful to Tara and the Temptations team for helping me see the beauty of baking and encouraging me to share the love with not only my family, but others.

I hope you will join me and the other hosts as we spend a whole day Cooking on the Q.  Please leave a reply here and tell me what your favorite dish is?  What you love about Temptations and how you have made memories. And join me and my family on facebook.

Have a blessed day.

There’s something very symbolic and hopeful about the spring season because it signifies renewal and rejuvenation. My TSV(SM) will help you welcome spring with smooth, glowing, radiant skin!

The TSV is a Luxury Super Size Duo featuring DermalQuench Liquid Oxygen Treatment (5 oz) and ExfoliKate Intensive Exfoliating Treatment (5 oz). This powerhouse duo can be incorporated into any skincare routine to smooth skin and minimize the look of wrinkles like never before!

Kate Somerville Super-size DermalQuench & ExfoliKate Anti-Aging Duo

Kate Somerville Super-size DermalQuench & ExfoliKate Anti-Aging Duo

There is a reason why both ExfoliKate and DermalQuench are skincare staples – they were developed from my most popular Clinic treatments and they help you achieve results and radiant, gorgeous skin!

Exfoliation is one of the most important steps in your skincare routine because it polishes skin by removing dead skin cells, revealing healthier-looking skin. Plus, it allows your serums and moisturizers to work more effectively. I developed ExfoliKate Intensive Exfoliating Treatment because I needed my clients to be able to take my treatments with them. ExfoliKate is the next best thing to seeing me in my Clinic! In just two minutes, my clients could still experience that beautiful glow when they weren’t able to come in for a treatment. After using ExfoliKate, your skin will feel dramatically softer and smoother. One of my favorite tips is to use ExfoliKate in the shower.

One of the most sought-after treatments in my clinic was the inspiration for DermalQuench Liquid Oxygen Treatment. My celebrity clients booked DermalQuench for red carpets and special events because it produced flawless, glowing, beautiful-looking skin. It took me years to develop an at-home version of this treatment, but it was well worth it! Now you can experience the immediate and long-term results from DermalQuench Liquid Oxygen Treatment every day, not just on special occasions. It’s ideal for people concerned with the visible signs of aging, such as wrinkles and dryness. The cool blast of oxygen technology provides intense, long-lasting hydration to help improve the look of firmness and texture while increasing the look of radiance.

Products are your personal tools – your arsenal – and are key to the improvement and maintenance of your skin! Bringing my Clinic favorites to you in this QVC exclusive is my way of being able to personally treat each one of you!

Questions? Have no fear! I’m here to guide you on your path to complexion perfection, and will be answering customer questions from 4-7 pm ET today. I want to hear from you so, ask away!

Season Three of LRS Starts TOMORROW!!

I am so excited about the start of the third season of The Lisa Robertson Show tomorrow night! So much work has gone into it that it's a little hard to know where to start…

But, let's start with trends. You know how much I love neutrals. (Insert your mental response to my dependence on black here. {#emotions_dlg.biggrin}) One of the biggest trends this season is pairing neutrals together. Black and white and any variation there of, white with tan, any combination of the light neutrals, and black, etc. You get the idea. This trend was made for me! We're going to show you some great new fashion and one of the things we'll demonstrate is how to work the "Black and White" trend.

There's also going to be the first G.I.L.I.™ piece of jewelry debuting in the show! The G.I.L.I. Bronzo Italia(R) Initial Bracelet that I've been wearing will be available the minute the show starts and it has been getting lots of questions. I'm over the moon about it. There's also a brand new Bronzo watch in the show that I picked just for you. (OK, really for me. I'm buying one too!)

We have some fashion from Marc Bouwer and something new in beauty, just in case I haven't gotten your attention yet. {#emotions_dlg.biggrin}

I am also honored to have Joe Zee, the Creative Director of ELLE magazine contributing to the show this season. He has pinpointed a group of designers that are creating buzz in the world of fashion. We're going to have an introduction to each designer that you'll see in the show and a more in-depth piece online and on the interactive LRS iPad app. After meeting these designers, I can't wait to follow their fashion in the future and see where they go. They're brilliant and I feel like I have an inside track getting to know them early. I hope as we go along, you'll feel the same way.

The first brand you will meet is TOME. This is one of the few labels that's a partnership instead of an individual. They're two talented gentlemen from "Down Under," creating quite a stir over here.

As you see, it's going to be a very busy hour. I'm not sure how we are going to fit it all in, but tune in on Friday night at 10pm ET and see how we do. {#emotions_dlg.biggrin}

See you then!!!!
—Lisa

P.S. In PM Style on Monday at 7pm ET, Lisa Rinna is bringing us two amazing pieces that she’s debuting on All-Star Celebrity Apprentice this Sunday at 9pm ET on NBC. How exciting! Don't miss it!

Dear Albany, Everyone's talking about portable chargers. Do I need one?

$

0

“I need some juice. Do you mind if I plug in? Do you have a spare charger? I can’t go, I’m down to one bar. My battery’s dead…AGAIN!”

How many times have you said ANY of these things? Or better yet, how often do you make statements like these?

Another key trend in consumer electronics is portable power. Makes sense…you can’t always find a 110 outlet; and if you do, do you really want to be that girl sitting on the floor at the airport hoping to catch a few minutes of charge time? Even last month, we all watched in horror as the passengers on that ill-fated cruise ship cramped around power strips hoping to get enough juice to call their loved ones. That was absolutely heart-wrenching to watch, and I can’t even begin to imagine the anxiety happening onboard.

Getting, and more importantly staying connected, is creating a huge need for portable power. As a society, we have become so tethered to our devices that there are statistics on anxiety associated with getting down to one bar on your cell phone. There's even an official name: battery anxiety. I know I get the heeby jeebies anytime I can’t reach the littles or hubby.

So how much power is enough? For starters, ask yourself, "How many milliamps do I need?" Most of us know how to buy power for our cordless drills, compressors, and jump starters; we speak in volts. And in case of any emergency, we look for generators in watts. For our tech toys, we need to understand (and speak in) milliamps.

Now you can say goodbye to carrying a plastic baggie full of chargers with you! Portable power is customizableyou just need to know:
  • Milliamps, aka the size of the device battery
  • The quality of power distribution
  • What/how many devices can it efficiently support (without overcharging)

Currently, the most popular size for both efficiency and ultra portability is 2800mAh. This size will charge your cell phones and other small electronics devices.

The next most popular size for both power and portability is 8400 mAh. This size portable charger will be able to charge your iPads and tablets!

Finally, please keep in mind that portable power is all about staying connected on the go, not being your sole power source. My advice is to charge your portable power every night (or once a week if you don’t use it every day) right alongside your cell phone. That way you’ll always have that extra oomph if you need it. Think about it this way: just because you have a generator in the garage doesn’t mean that it’s fully charged and ready to weather a storm. You still need to gas it up or charge it overnight, right? Same with your portable power!

And yes, portable power is compatible with the latest generation “i” devices. By this I mean anything that plugs in with a lightening cord. If you need to charge this kind of device, simply plug your cord into the USB end of the portable power unit and connect the other end to your device to charge.

If you're on the market for portable power, be sure to keep an eye out for special offers at QVC happening soon! Click here to shop our portable power selection now!

Hello, foodies…

I'm posting the blog early today because I'll be at the flower show ALL day! I've got two presentations on the importance of garden-to-table cooking and growing your own little edible garden…one at 2pm and one at 5pm ET. I hope to see you there!

For those of you who aren't joining us here in Philly, I promised you a little snapshot of my presentation. I'm a man of my word!

I've been gardening for as long as I can remember…my grandmother had a lush garden full of tomatoes, beans, squash, watermelon, and more. We picked it and often enjoyed it that very day. And on the weekends, we'd can the rest. Our pantry was always stocked with produce that we ate throughout the year.

Not only did we save hundreds of dollars by growing our own produce, but we knew exactly how it was grown and when the veggies were harvested. There were no added chemicals. There were no pesticides. The flavor told you it was wholesome and pure.

I urge you to start your own little edible garden. You don't need acres of space…only a few feet. Or, literally a few pots you can store on your patio. Even a single planter you can hang off a windowsill is room-enough. Think about which veggies, fruits, or herbs you'd like to grow, then head to your local garden center and make friends with a knowledgeable employee. If you're growing the plants in the ground, you can have your soil tested for drainage, PH, and an attendant can recommend what you need to have a successful garden.

If you opt for container-growing, find out which plants can be grouped together, which must be separated, which can grow inside, and those that can be out. Pots can be easily moved, giving you ability to grow lemon trees, avocado trees, and plants that are outside your climate zone. Plus, there's no weeding. And better yet, no pests! You'll be so proud of yourself when your garden starts to flourish. And your food will taste better than ever.

Now that you're ready to grow your own garden…here's Sunday's ITKWDrecipe, which is sure to help get you motivated: Iced Lemon-Blueberry Scones. How amazing would it be to have your own lemons and blueberries!

Iced Lemon-Blueberry Scones

Iced Lemon-Blueberry Scones

This recipe is prepared with the Temp-tations® 9" x 13" Lid-It (K34825).

Go to David's Recipe Item Page for the full list of items that David has used in his recipes.

Ingredients:

Scones:
1-3/4 cups all-purpose flour
1/4 tsp salt
1/3 cup + 2 Tbsp sugar
1 Tbsp + 1-1/4 tsp baking powder
Zest of 2 lemons
1/2 stick cold unsalted butter, cut into 1/2" cubes
1/2 cup milk
1/8 cup heavy whipping cream
1 cup frozen blueberries

Icing:

1-1/2 cup confectioners’ sugar
3 Tbsp fresh lemon juice
Zest of 1 lemon

Directions:

To prepare the scones, preheat the oven to 375°F and position a rack in the center of the oven. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Place the flour, salt, all of the sugar and baking powder, plus the lemon zest into the bowl of a food processor and process for 5 seconds to combine the dry ingredients. Add all of the cold butter cubes into the mouth of the food processor and mix for 8–10 seconds, or until the mixture is coarse and crumbly. Gradually pour the milk and heavy cream through the mouth of the food processor. Pulse, while adding the liquid ingredients, about 10–12 times. Don't over-mix; the dough shouldn't be fully incorporated.

Place the dough onto a lightly floured surface, add the frozen blueberries, and knead 10–12 times until the blueberries are evenly incorporated. Flatten the dough to a 1" thick circle. Cut the dough (like a pizza) into eight slices. Place the scones, 1" apart, on the paper-lined pan and bake for 16–18 minutes, or until light golden brown. Remove the scones from the oven, place them onto a cooling rack, and cool completely.

To prepare the icing, combine the sugar, lemon juice, and zest in a small bowl and lightly whisk until smooth. Drizzle the icing over the scones and let it harden for about 5 minutes before serving.

Our spring edition of Cooking on Q is happening this Sunday and we've got FOUR big hours scheduled! We're going to figure everything out for your big Easter holiday, plus the many get-togethers you're sure to host this spring.

I'm even thinking ahead to summer entertaining! And here's why: Cookin' with Corky's Cookbook by Jimmy Stovall. This is our "Cookbook Corner" selection for Sunday and it ships to you this May. I don't think I have to say much more than HOLY B-B-Q! This book brings includes some of Corky's best kept secrets as well as the Corky's team's family and friends recipes. Here's one dessert I'm particularly excited about. Say it with me…SMORES PIE!

Time for your blog question…what's your favorite recipe that includes fruit? Apple pie? Blueberry muffins? Maybe Strawberry Shortcake? My all-time favorite is apple pie. But, if we're talking spring recipe…it has to be strawberry rhubarb pie. My grandmother always had a fresh pie waiting for me when we came to visit. See you Sunday at Noon ET if not tomorrow in Philly!

Keep it flavorful!

Spring is in the Air

Daffodils are popping up, Easter is near, and the birds are chirping in the early morning.  Spring is in the air.  I love this time of year as the days are longer and the sun shines brighter.

I have had a busy few months.  I just returned from the Housewares Show in Chicago and am excited about designing and creating for all of you.  Mom and I saw a great show in NYC recently. I always love the buzz of the city.

I bid a sad farewell to my 13 year old Sake, a chow-shepherd mix.  She has been a part of my life for so long that there is emptiness around the house.  Yet, my new puppy Fozzie keeps me busy as all puppies do….being adorable and naughty all at the same time.

I am excited to share new products with you on the Spring Cook Event this Sunday, March 10th.  I have three hour long shows at 5am EST, 11am EST and 6pm EST. I will be presenting 3 new products as well.

Carolyn Gracie and Kerstin Lindquist will be posting blogs on their pages on all their fave Temp-tations and recipes.  Be sure to check it out.  Oh and don't forget to set your clocks ahead this weekend :-)

See you all on Sunday!

SPRING AHEAD and SPRING IT ON!!

As I write this, I am looking out the window of my home office and seeing a drab winter day, with cold winds and snow flurries. I think to myself, (like so many of you, my fellow gardening fans, HURRY UP SPRING!! It's a week into March, already!) Since we're "Springing Ahead" on Sunday, and soon we'll have more daylight, more sunshine and more WARM weather, I'm excited to be a part of QVC's Big Spring Garden Event Day tomorrow - March 9th!! I've been ordering plants from Cottage Farms and Roberta's since late January, and soon they will be arriving at my doorstep, just in time to plant them! I've already received a new Smart Solar fountain, some new angel windchimes, my Bliss Gravity Free Recliners, and new solar lights from Westinghouse! I can't wait to get out there and do some planting and arranging and beautifying in my outdoor living spaces! My Blue Clean Powerwasher is standing at the ready, waiting to spray my patio furniture, cushions, walkways and deck in to sparkling "like new" condition! My dogs are ready to go out and play in the warm sunshine and green grass, instead of cloudy skies and mud puddles! Ahhh....just the thought of sitting on my deck surrounded by beautiful flowers, with the gentle sounds of trickling water from my solar fountain and a cool glass of fresh squeezed lemonade and my pups napping on the patio mats....that's what gets me through these last days of winter that seem to be lingering on. So, I hope you'll catch a big glimpse of Springtime with me, tomorrow during our Spring Garden Event, which will feature lots of new and exciting, practical and beautiful patio and garden items, furniture, tools, umbrellas, lighting, statuary and of course, gorgeous plants, which will make YOUR lawn, garden and patio the most OUTSTANDING one in the neighborhood this summer!! Don't miss the Plow and Hearth hour at 1AM eastern....I chose most of the items in the show myself, along with our gardening  Buyer, Greg, and some of them will not last long!! I know you will like what you see! Also, be sure to join me for an hour of Roberta's Unique Gardens and my good friends, the Walliens, at 1PM, featuring final quantities on some of this season's most popular live plants, plus some NEW varieties that you haven't seen yet this season! Then, we'll pulling out all the stops for a big 2-Hour Garden Party with Carolyn"Extravaganza" from 2 till 4pm!  I invite you to join in the all FUN that always seems to happen during this program!! You can click here for a sneak peek at what's coming up in the show.

Speaking of Roberta's and the Walliens....have you seen the new Garden Video Blog installments that my friend and Master Gardener, Eric Wallien recorded with me earlier in the season? These feature basic gardening tips and hints from Eric, to help make your garden the best ever, this season! Click here to see the third and latest installment!

You can also view the previous installments in my earlier Gardening Blogs on my blog page on QVC.com. There will be a new Garden Video Blog installment coming each week throughout QVC's Gardening Season, so keep checking back!

Also, just a quick reminder, if you are in the Philadelphia Area this week, you still have a chance to visit the Philadelphia Flower Show, sponsored by our friends at the Philadelphia Horticultural Society, going on through this Sunday, March 10th. It is SPECTACULAR and the largest event of it's kind in the country. This year's theme is "BRILLIANT".

It is all about those incredibly beautiful English Country Gardens and how to recreate them in your own yard. My buddy Phillip Watson, of Cottage Farms took some photos while he was there, that I wanted to share with you here as well. Aren't they incredible?? I can't wait to try some of these ideas!

Meanwhile, fingers crossed (and green thumbs too!) for SPRINGTIME!!  Enjoy QVC's Spring Gardening Event and I'll see you on the Q from 1-4pm Saturday, March 9th!!

Carolyn

SodaStream Is Almost Here

Hear ye, hear ye...SODASTREAM IS COMING TO QVC! I'm so excited to share the news that I'll be presenting the SodaStream Soda Maker on its QVC debut this Sunday March 10 at Noon ET during the Cooking on Q edition of In the Kitchen with David.

This is a super-fun product that I've owned, used, and loved for the past 18 months and I'm thrilled to be the one bringing it to you. In addition to all of the fun you'll have using the product and the 100+ flavors available for you to enjoy, it's also a great way to prepare beverages for your family all year round with no plug to fuss over, no worries, and no learning curve.

One of my favorite features of the SodaStream is the fact you can make all the same great-tasting colas and sodas you buy anywhere else with just tap water. You'll be consuming up to 2/3 LESS sugar, 2/3 LESS carbs, 2/3 LESS calories, a lot less sodium, and no aspartame. How cool is that?!

And especially near and dear to my heart is that you can have a real impact on decreasing your family's carbon footprint as shown here.

So watch out for the premiere of this MUST-have new kitchen gadget! As the SodaStream company themselves like to say about their product, "Set the BUBBLES FREE!!!" I can't wait to see you all on Sunday.
