Happy Thursday Shoe Lovers!

This Thursday marks a very exciting day for all you “sole” obsessed ladies out there because we have a new shoe show launching featuring one of my favorite hosts – Leah Williams!

For over 10 years on AM Style, Leah has helped you build your wardrobe with essential pieces and trendy accessories.  Now, each Thursday you can complete those looks with the perfect pair of shoes!

Like most of us, Leah is passionate about finding stylish and comfortable shoes.  Leah is active in her community and loves running around with her three nephews so she really understands the need for a shoe that feels great.  She doesn’t sacrifice fashion though - the shoe must still look good!

I was able to catch up with Leah over the past few weeks as she prepared for her new show, take a look!

Divide & Conquer the Pros to Make For a Happier Home

Many people believe they need professional help to create the home of their dreams. If you’re going to use professionals to renovate, decorate, or even build your home, I’m beginning to see a trend that makes a lot of sense. No longer is it necessary to give the entire task to one professional.
Remodeling Project
As for me, I'm very confident that I can handle the work when it comes to the way my home and garden looks. But I know when I’m out of my element. I recently had to have the roof on my home replaced. Because of the age of the house, it had to be done by a specialist. I sought out the recommendations of people I trusted and hired the best person for the job.

I’ve found that a lot of people don’t have the patience for decorating. They might love certain things but don’t know how to pull everything together. They lack confidence. Using the team approach can be very effective to demystify the task. When using professionals you still need to stay involved in every step of the process. Be vocal about the choices being made and make sure you love everything that's being chosen. If you’re losing sleep about their choices, tell the person you’re working with. By talking it out, you may better understand what they have in mind or you may be instrumental in changing the decision for the better.

The rule I live by is: even if I can’t afford it at the time, I don’t buy anything I don’t really love. I would rather wait, do without something else to get what I want or get someone to make it for me for less money. All the professionals really want the same thing I want for you. Every time you walk into your home, you love it again!

For more ideas, tips, and new items, tune in on Wednesday, September 18th at 2amfor my show. And you can always shop my collection online here: Linda Dano Home Collection.

"My Spring/Summer 2014 Runway Show!"

Hi everyone! I’m busy this week preparing for my Spring/Summer 2014 runway show. The biggest challenge in producing a collection for Fashion Week is getting it done on time! Sometimes, we are literally finishing garments hours before the show. We’re screening models, doing hair and makeup tests and putting together all the final touches! I’ll be here, in my STUDIO, all weekend as we pull everything together for the show on September 10th, at the Lincoln Center here in New York City.

My Spring/Summer collection inspiration was the great Hollywood goddesses. All those stars who created the red carpet look before it was called the red carpet. Taking cues from Ava Gardner, Jane Russell, and Marilyn Monroe, the collection ranges from delicate floral frocks to show-stopping scarlet gowns. We are using silk organza, gazaar, cotton, and tulle. The shapes are flowing, fitted bodices with skirts that are short and flirty.

I hope the collection will inspire the audience to feel good about themselves. After all, fashion is not only the garment, but the emotional response to it.

The Dennis Basso Spring/Summer 2014 show will take place at the Lincoln Center on September 10 at 3pm EST. A live stream of the event will be available at NewYorkFashionWeek.com.

What Are Your Best Entertaining Tips? How Do You Make Guests Feel Welcome?

Happy Friday! I’ve got some exciting news—YHJ is on tomorrow at 5pm ET! You’re right. Tomorrow is Saturday, not Wednesday. But, we’ve worked a couple special episodes in this season to hold you over between Wednesdays. And, next Wednesday, it’s Cooking on Q Day, which means no You’re Home with Jill.

So what’s happening tomorrow? Well, we’re going to help you think about making your house the place to be on the weekends. It is football season, you know! And, we're making my Shrimp Salsa…a yummy appetizer your weekend company will love. Here’s the recipe:

Shrimp Salsa

This recipe is prepared with the Temp-tations® Old World 16-piece Oven-to-Table Set (K27938).

Ingredients:

•    1-1/2 cup tomatoes, seeded and diced (I use red and yellow tomatoes!)
•    1/2 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
•    1/3 cup fresh lime juice
•    1/3 cup extra virgin olive oil
•    1/4 cup red onion, diced
•    1 fresh jalapeño, seeded and minced
•    1-1/2 lb large cooked shrimp, peeled and de-veined
•    Salt and pepper, to taste
•    Tortilla chips, for serving

Directions:

1.    Combine the first six ingredients in a medium-size bowl. Let it sit at room temperature for about an hour.

2.    Meanwhile, cut the shrimp into bite-size pieces. Add the shrimp to the salsa mixture and season with salt and pepper.

3.    Chill  the salsa for about an hour and then serve with tortilla chips.

Be sure to let the salsa sit for about an hour after combining the veggies…it really gets those flavors going! And speaking of flavor, try the tortilla chips with a hint of lime. They’re really good with this salsa.

Just as the yellow and red tomatoes add great color, you might also try an arrangement of blue and yellow tortilla chips to amp up your presentation. Celery—especially those pieces near the stem—are like little spoons and just scoop that salsa right up. Or, if you’re feeling a little adventurous, you can always try yuca chips. My friend David Venable opened my eyes to this Latin ingredient and you can find premade yuca chips at your supermarket.

So now that you’ve got an appetizer idea, how can you make your house “the hangout spot?”
•    A comfy La-Z-Boy recliner doesn’t hurt, which just so happens to be our TSV(R) on Saturday! This chair has memory foam in the cushion, back, and foot rest, and it’s made of durable, attractive, stands-up-to-everything leather.
•    Now, be sure you have lot of seating in general. And, don’t forget about tables to place drinks and plates. Borrow some end tables from other rooms if necessary. Or, simply set up TV trays next to each seat so guests are less likely to put things down on the couch or floor…which inevitably leads to disaster.
•    Finally, the “is this my glass?” game will surely be played unless you differentiate them in some way with glass charms or colorful ribbon. You might also try using window markers, which are available in your supermarket craft aisle, to write guests names right on the glass. When the party’s over, you stick the glass in the dishwasher and the writing washes off!

We won’t have a DIY Project tomorrow, but here’s another finished rug to give you some inspiration! Michele or “Meech,” as she’s known to family and friends, is the blogger behind Made by Meech. Michele is a mom, wife, lover of crafting, sewing, baking, and decorating, and I’m in love with her creativity! She was kind enough to do a step-by-step tutorial for us as well. Here’s the finished product!

Made by Meech DIY Rug

“I decided to have it say "hello" instead of the traditional "welcome." I then went with a chevron pattern because it's fun and I love geometric patterns. All in all, I really enjoyed trying this kit and I am very happy with my finished product. It is a great addition to my entry way!”--Michele

If you've made your own rug, please share your photos with me on Facebook, Instagram, or Pinterest. And, before I go, what are your best entertaining tips? How do you make guests feel welcome in your home?

I’ll see you tomorrow at 5pm ET, everyone.

From my home to yours,
—Jill

Who Else Wants More Fun and Less Stress with Fashion?

I always look forward to sitting down with my “stack” of September issues of my favorite fashion and lifestyle magazines. The September books are usually hundreds of pages thick and loaded with ads, but always filled with all that’s new or re-invented in fashion.

I’ve developed a bit of a ritual in September. I settle into my comfy chair with a pen, paper, and 1.5 readers (I can’t read the print without them, when did that happen?) -- I put my feet up on the ottoman, and I dive in. Thumbing through the pages, themes, trends and color stories start to take shape. This year, the color of “wine”, “biker chic”, “more animal print”, “suede”,  and “pointy-toe shoes” are visible in almost every publication.

So, what do I do next? I jot down the things I like, things that I think work for my style, and things that I might like to try. And then I keep my eye open for them throughout the season. It’s not an expensive proposition. Some seasons, I don’t add anything new. Other seasons, I add quite a few new pieces. The point is, fall might just be the most celebrated fashion season, but it should be fun. There’s no pressure to try a trend just because editors say so. It’s better to see what looks and feels good for you and go with it. And even if you have everything you need in your wardrobe, flipping through the pages of a glossy magazine to get your fall fashion fix -- that can be the most fun of all!

What have you added to your fall fashion wardrobe?

See you tomorrow morning for AM Beauty and AM Style
Warm wishes,

Leah

A Summer Send Off

I don’t know about you, but I’m being forced out of summer by my two year old son who cannot wait for the Fall/Halloween. So if I don’t make the transition in all aspects of my life soon, he will continue to drive me bananas.   Truthfully, his excitement is adorable – I haven’t been this excited for Halloween since my nieces and nephews were little and they are all grown up now.  His spirit is making us embrace the holidays – I just can’t imagine Christmas!  My husband and I have “welcomed” the characters of Fall to make a home in our backyard where the neighbors can’t see and yet he is entertained.  He literally gets a HUGE kick out of these silly decorations.  So before I make the transition over to pumpkin this and pumpkin that, I will squeeze just a few more summery posts in and start to accept that it is after Labor Day now.{#emotions_dlg.crying}

Guacamole: (For a family of 4)

I seriously hope I can continue to make this all year long.  My kids devour it and that makes me very, very happy.  (yep, even the baby!)

4 avocados *the trick is to get the perfect avocado and I have to say, this is very hard to do. Either not ripe enough or too ripe and brown.

Fresh chopped cilantro

Chopped red onion

Sea salt*key ingredient it’s not the same without it

Lime juice

As for measurements for the ingredients: My method is to add a little, taste and continue to add more ingredients to your liking.  I would say start with a  ¼ cup of fresh, chopped cilantro, a ¼ cup of red onion, 2 tbsp. of lime juice, and a tsp of sea salt.

My son gives it a good mush for me- he loves helping mommy in the kitchen.

Bonus video: how to cut an avocado!

Green Smoothies:

This is by far the best and only way I get spinach or kale in my kiddo’s diet.  We have the Vitamix Creations Blender which I have to say I don’t use it as much as I should. Maybe this fall for soups! {#emotions_dlg.biggrin}

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) pineapple juice
  • 1 3/4 cups (262 g) green grapes
  • 2-3 cups spinach, washed *I stuff in as much as I can
  • Organic yogurt (1-2 cups)
  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) ice cubes

Directions

  1. Place all ingredients into the Vitamix container in the order listed and secure lid.
  2. Select Variable 1.
  3. Turn machine on and slowly increase speed to Variable 10, then to High.
  4. Blend for 35-40 seconds or until mixture is smooth.

Brady slurps them right down and asks for more.  If I have any left over, I turn them into popsicles which he equally loves and Serafina gets a taste too!  (Which is also great for teething!)

Enjoy!

I love many things about fall, but the thing I probably love most about the season is FOOTBALL!!! And even better when my home state, The Minnesota Vikings, are playing.

Today is an exciting day in the Roe household. It is the Season Opener for "my boys". I am so looking forward to a day of relaxing in front of the television wearing my Viking flare and munching on some yummy family favorites. Calorie counting is highly frowned upon during a Minnesota Viking game. : )

This week, as an added bonus (just because I am so happy about football) I decided to share three recipes with you from my first cookbook, My Family's Favorites: EZ Fudge, Cocktail Meatballs and Veggie/Fruit Salad. I hope you like what I chose for you this week.

E-Z Fudge

  • 1 Can sweetened Condensed Milk
  • 12 oz. Chocolate Chips
  • 12 oz. Butterscotch Chips
  • 1 Cup Miniature Marshmallows
  • 1/2 Teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 Cup Chopped Nuts
    1-1/2 Teaspoon Vanilla

Melt the chips with the sweetened condensed milk. Stir in vanilla, salt and nuts. Add the marshmallows and stir. Pour into greased pans (Either two 8" x 8" pans or one 9" x 13") Chill and set.

Cocktail Meatballs

  • 1 Pound Ground Beef
  • 1/4 Pound pork sausage
  • 1/4 Cup dry breadcrumbs
  • 1 Egg
  • 1/2 Parmesan Cheese
  • 10 oz. Grape Jelly
  • 12 oz. Chili sauce
  • 1 Tablespoon Worcestershire Sauce
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Garlic Salt
  • 1/8 Teaspoon Pepper
  • 1/4 Cup light cream

Mix the ground beef, sausage, bread crumbs, egg and parmesan cheese. Form into 1-inch diameter rounded meatballs. Brown in skillet until thoroughly cooked. Drain well om paper towels. In a separate saucepan, melt the grape jelly on low heat, then add the chili and Worcestershire sauces and remaining ingredients. Add the meatballs and heat thoroughly. Serve warm. Makes approximately 40 meatballs.

Veggie/Fruit Salad

  • 1 Bunch Broccoli (Broken into Florets)
  • 1 Cup seedless green grapes
  • 1 Cup seedless red grapes
  • 1 Cup sliced Celery
  • 1 Bunch Green onions, chopped
  • 1/2 Pound bacon, cooked and crumbled
  • 1 Cup slivered almonds
  • 1 Cup Mayonnaise or Miracle Whip
  • 1/4 Cup sugar
  • 2 Tablespoons vinegar
Mix together vegetables, fruit, bacon and almonds. In a separate bowl, stir together the Mayonnaise or Miracle Whip, sugar and vinegar. Combine all ingredients in one large serving bowl and chill for at least one hour.

Who else is watching football "with me" this weekend?  Any other Viking fans out there?

Barbara Bixby Caravan Collection!

I am so happy to present the new Barbara Bixby Caravan Collection to you! It is an exciting new collection based all of the beautiful visuals that a gypsy caravan brought to mind as well as the concept of a caravan representing our life’s journey. The camel is the quintessential “spirit guide” representing our ability to makes it through life’s trials with dignity and strength so he became an important part of this collection.  I've always been attracted to these strange creatures but really did not know why. My grandfather collected and sold antiques and one of my favorite pieces which my mother has owned since I was a very little girl is a large camel sculpture. It wasn't until I started to study their symbolism and importance as “spirit guides” that I really understood why I was so drawn to these animals!

When I started conceptualizing the Caravan collection the camel immediately came to mind because of the obvious connection to journeys. Camels are designed to endure harsh circumstances and endure long and arduous travels. It is said that they serve us spiritually as well as physically as guides on our lives paths and can teach us the lessons of endurance, adaptability, nobility, humility, etc. –tools that we all need on our different paths through life. For centuries the camels have shown us that even the most difficult expeditions can be navigated if we balance our energies, both physically and spiritually.

This was a joy to design, as I loved the juxtaposition of the whimsy and nobility that the camel brings to my imagination. I experimented with many sketches for this cuff and while thinking about the introspection (mirror) necessary to tackle the challenges of life I decided to use two camels facing each other to symbolize that mirror. I really liked the elegant form and symmetry that the 2 camels brought to the design as well.  They are meticulously carved from white mother of pearl and each wears a blanket of beautiful turquoise enamel with intricate silver detailing. 18K gold tassels dangle from the corners of the blanket. It was important that the stones brought both the colorful, gypsy caravan feeling of the collection as well as the energies that spoke to the message of the symbols. I chose beautiful pink garnet cabochons because they lend physical, spiritual and emotional energy and connects us with our guardian angels. I also used amethyst, one of the most ancient stones associated with protection and spiritual energies, creating a shield of spiritual light around us , enhancing our environment and helping us remove karmic baggage. The white topaz at the point of the bracelet magnifies these energies.

I loved this design so much that I designed an acoustic guitar around it (other guitars to come!). The camels make up the headstock of the guitar. The fingerboard has inlays of Tibetan clouds, the sound hole is inlaid with a mother of pearl crescent moon and star and the blanket appears to be draped over the bottom corner of the body. This has been a really exciting part of my artistic journey and I am so happy to be able to share it with all of you.

Please join me this Sunday, September 8th, at 4pm to hear more behind the creation of this very special collection.

XOXO- Barbara

Garlic Bread – Crispy or Soft?

$

The Wishful Dish is back! We only have a couple of shows left before we shift to Gourmet Holiday shows on Mondays at 5pm. So, this week we have a great Friday Night Meal that will make everyone's mouth water! Chicken Parmaroni, anyone?

Imagine getting home on Friday, at the end of a long week, and just pulling this out of the freezer for dinner............delish. The only way this could be improved upon would be to serve a quick and easy garlic bread with it. Crispy or soft, you say? Well, that depends on my mood. So, I thought I would share both.......

Garlic Bread 2 Ways

INGREDIENTS

1 16-ounce loaf of Italian bread or French bread

1/2 cup butter, softened

2 cloves of garlic, minced

1 tablespoon of fresh parsley, chopped

Crispy version.........

First, preheat the oven to 350°F. Then, cut the bread in half, separating the top from the bottom, and lay it on a baking sheet open-faced. Mix the butter, garlic, and parsley together in a small bowl. Then, spread the mixture over both halves of the bread. Heat it in the oven for 10 minutes. Remove the bread from the oven and let it cool for a minute. Then, cut it into 1 inch thick slices, and serve it right away. Crisp and delicious!

Soft version.........

Preheat oven to 350°F. Mix the butter, garlic, and parsley just like the crispy version. Make the slices into the bread about 1 inch apart, but don't slice all the way through. Try to leave the bottom crust attached. Then, spread 1 or 2 teaspoons of the butter between each slice. Finally, wrap the bread in aluminum foil and put it in the oven for 15 minutes. Mmmmmmmm, the kitchen smells delicious. Soft garlic bread is one of life's great comfort foods.

Tip: If you do the crispy version, you have the option if grating some Parmesan cheese on top after it bakes. Pop it back under the broiler for two minutes, and watch it so it doesn't burn. Then, you have cheesy garlic bread!  Yum!

Also, we have something new to share in the show! If you like apples, you are gonna love these!

I'm looking forward to having you stop in on Monday at 5pm!

-Sharon

Senior Mom Blog

Here is my attempt to write my first Mom Blog…

This I promise you will not be a blog on providing advice, but of sharing a journey with you. My only daughter Nicole will be graduating in approximately 289 days (according to her phone app)…and although this will be about her in a lot of ways, it is also about being a mom…

So let’s start our journey…the one that began in preschool.. as I watched Nicole make new friends and learn new sayings like, “zip it, lock it, put it in your pocket”,  and bringing home the many “works of art”,  which are still on our basement wall.  I still remember back to school night and reading a paper she completed listing her favorite food as French fries, favorite color  as pink, and what she wanted to be when she grew up, she wanted to be just like her mom…you know I cried the entire way home!

In only a few days my daughter will be wearing her final first day school outfit until college…where there will be no more mom taking first day outfit pictures.  In so many ways it seems like just yesterday I was holding her little hand as we walked to her preschool a few blocks away.

Memories of the first day of kindergarten had no tears but lots of anticipation…after the first week, Nicole asked me if I could come pick her up after lunch because she missed me…I cried when I realized that I no longer got to spend every minute with her, that she was growing up.  Two weeks into kindergarten it was September 11th and I was working on air when the first plane hit.

I have never been so scared of the unknown and fearful in all my life.  I remember the frantic call I made to the school asking them if I could pick her up right then and there!  I remember the drive to the school seemed like an eternity.  When I arrived and Nicole came to the office she asked me why I came to get her.  At that moment, I realized I had to protect her and be strong so I told her that I missed her.

Nicole and I went to a service in the park a few days later.  I dressed her in this adorable patriotic gingham dress and held her tight as we sang patriotic songs and waved red glow sticks and flags with tears flowing down my cheeks. I do not think she remembers all the details of that tragic day, which is a good thing, but I know she understood the importance of my love for her and our country.  That year the kindergarten show was a patriotic music which brought tears to all of our eyes, as we saw hope in our children.

My last memory was Nicole’s response to the end of kindergarten when she told me that she could not go to first grade because her teacher would miss her too much.  We will always love our Mrs. Delagratti who would protect our kids as if they were her own.

In many ways this blog is about change.   I am not good with change but my mom’s favorite saying is the only thing you can count on in life is change…

If I am honest, this is not where I thought my life would be or too be really honest I cannot even imagine being the mom of a senior…

So let’s share advice and walk down memory lane with me about your experience in school too...someone very smart told me that I cannot create the path for my child but I can only prepare her for the path.

So with the final first day of school only days away…I shed a small tear as the last school dress is bought and the last picture may be a selfie on her phone… I promise to share the journey if you will promise to come with me…

What Are Your Go-To Foods When Time Is Tight? Fresh Fruit? Sliced Veggies? Granola Bars?

Hello, foodies…

My mother’s mission in life was to ensure my brother, sister, and I had enough to eat. Yes, she was a nurse and understood the importance of nutrition and eating the right kinds of food. But, you always had seconds at my mother’s table. And thirds, if she thought you could had room for just one more bite.

Some 40 years later, she’s still making sure I’m well fed. On my last visit, in fact, we had breakfast together—I think she made cheesy grits with sausage, one of my all-time favorite breakfasts. She must have asked me three times (after I had eaten far more than this now-grown-man-should) if I wanted more, and I felt like I was 6 years old again. And, just for the record, I did have seconds. But I passed on thirds!

Moms, dads, grandparents, I’m sure you can identify with this. When kids are little, they don’t want to eat. When they’re older, there’s not always time to get them to eat. Sunday’s recipe is for little and big kids alike, not to mention, you, grown-ups. It’s ideal for breakfast, but really appropriate any time you need to fit in a quick, nutritional snack. Here’s my Chocolate Banana Breakfast Smoothie.

This recipe is prepared with the Prepology® 4-Piece Nonstick Knife Set (K35540).

Go to David's Recipe Item Page for the full list of items that David has used in his recipes.

Ingredients:

  • 2 bananas, peeled and quartered
  • 1-1/2 cups oat milk
  • 2 Tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 Tbsp whey protein powder
  • 3 Tbsp creamy almond butter
  • 2 Tbsp honey
  • 1/3 cup low-fat granola
  • 1 cup ice

Directions:

1. Add all of the ingredients into a blender and blend until smooth; serve cold.

Use what you have on hand for this recipe, foodies. If you only have dairy milk, use it. If you don’t have almond butter, use peanut butter. Speaking of peanut butter, have you ever considered making your own? Lots of store-bought brands use added sugar and preservatives. Watch this quick how-to from the folks at America’s Test Kitchen and see what you think!

Foodies, it’s Grandparent’s Day on Sunday! Invite those special people over for a nice dinner. Check out my menu page on QVC.com for some recipe inspiration. And, don’t miss Sunny Anderson this Sunday on In the Kitchen with David. The Food Network Host is back with her book, Sunny’s Kitchen, which sold out in minutes the last time she was here. This time around, I’m tasting Onion Ring Casserole and Double Chocolate Bread Pudding. Is it Sunday yet!?

Let’s continue the conversation about quick, healthy meals, foodies. What are your go-to foods when time is tight? Do you keep fruit and sliced veggies on hand? Are you a big granola bar fan? Give your fellow foodies a few ideas…not to mention me! See you Sunday at Noon ET.

Keep it flavorful!

My favorite season is finally here! I love everything about fall…the crisp mornings, the changing leaves, dark nail polish, lots of new boots, and (of course), brand-new makeup and skin-care products. We've got you covered this season withso many wonderful new items―here a few of my faves set to debut this month.

Pure Transformation Day Treatment SPF 20

Protect. Cover. Hydrate. Smooth. Meet your new daytime secret weapon…seriously. Where has this product been all my life? Inspired by our Pure Transformation Night Treatment (a customer favorite), this tinted, daytime concentrated treatment gives sheer, lightweight coverage while delivering skin-enhancing benefits and SPF protection. It’s a great multitasker. And check out these results from a clinical study after four weeks of use:

  • 100% of women showed an improvement in skin texture
  • 100% of women showed an improvement in skin brightness/luminosity

I’ve been using this every day under my bareMinerals foundation. I think of this as my skin under armor. It’s a great base treatment that gives me all kinds of skin-care benefits while also giving me a first layer of coverage to diffuse the look of imperfections. You won’t believe the transformation: brighter-looking, more luminous skin, improved hydration, and improved skin texture. Plus, with the silky, lightweight SPF 20 protection, you’re helping to guard your skin from future damage. This is truly a beauty must-have. It comes in five sheer shades and was created to work with your foundation. Please write me on Facebook and share your personal skin transformation stories!

5-in-1 Advanced Performance Cream Eye Shadow Duo

This has got to be one of the most-talked-about new launches at our corporate office. Think about every single benefit you’d want out of an eye shadow, blend them together, and out comes our new 5-in-1 Advanced Performance Eye Shadow. This creamy, lightweight shadow helps to prime, brighten, smooth, and protect with broad-spectrum SPF 15 — all while delivering long-wear color. Five high-performance benefits in one silky, skin-nourishing cream shadow. Oh, and you've been asking for more matte shades, and you're in luck! These give the creamy look and feel you want, without all the shimmer and shine. Perfection.

Luminous Hydrating Body Cream in Golden Glow

It’s baaaaack: and this time with a healthy golden glow! Our Luminous Hydrating Body Cream spurred an instant cult following when it debuted last holiday season, and we understand why. Loaded with hydrating butters, soothing oils, a luminous mineral blend, and ActiveSoil Complex, this body cream (which is more like a butter) deeply hydrates to help give you softer, smoother, more hydrated skin that looks like silk with a soft golden glow. This is the ultimate body-care luxury. Treat yourself.

Five Shades of Fabulous, Oh-So-Chic Marvelous Moxie Lipstick Palette

This adorable palette of lipstick was the most-buzzed-about item in our bareMinerals booth back in April at the QVC Beauty Editor Event. Everyone loved the gorgeous array of colors and the tiny one-palette "sidecar" that let you pop on your lipstick color of the day and be on your way. We’ve all been wanting a customizable lipstick palette, and it’s finally here. You get five creamy, super-saturated lip colors that glide on like butter while providing a rich satin finish. This is a fall makeup wardrobe must-have, and it’s only here at the Q!

So there you have it! Some of my fall favorites. There are so many other new items, too—all of which I’ll share with you on air September 8‒10. I hope you’ll join me then for even more of my fall favorites!

Mary Beth's Menu - Are You Ready For Some Football?

I love many things about fall, but the thing I probably love most about the season is FOOTBALL!!! And even better when my home team, The Minnesota Vikings, are playing.

Today is an exciting day in the Roe household. It is the Season Opener for "my boys". I am really looking forward to a day of relaxing in front of the television wearing my Viking gear and munching on some yummy family favorites. Calorie counting is highly frowned upon during a Vikings game. : )

This week, as an added bonus (just because I am so happy about football) I decided to share three recipes with you from my first cookbook, My Family's Favorites: EZ Fudge, Cocktail Meatballs and Veggie/Fruit Salad. I hope you like what I chose for you this week.

E-Z Fudge

  • 1 Can sweetened Condensed Milk
  • 12 oz. Chocolate Chips
  • 12 oz. Butterscotch Chips
  • 1 Cup Miniature Marshmallows
  • 1/2 Teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 Cup Chopped Nuts
    1-1/2 Teaspoon Vanilla

Melt the chips with the sweetened condensed milk. Stir in vanilla, salt and nuts. Add the marshmallows and stir. Pour into greased pans (Either two 8" x 8" pans or one 9" x 13") Chill and set.

Cocktail Meatballs

  • 1 Pound Ground Beef
  • 1/4 Pound pork sausage
  • 1/4 Cup dry breadcrumbs
  • 1 Egg
  • 1/2 Parmesan Cheese
  • 10 oz. Grape Jelly
  • 12 oz. Chili sauce
  • 1 Tablespoon Worcestershire Sauce
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Garlic Salt
  • 1/8 Teaspoon Pepper
  • 1/4 Cup light cream

Mix the ground beef, sausage, bread crumbs, egg and parmesan cheese. Form into 1-inch diameter rounded meatballs. Brown in skillet until thoroughly cooked. Drain well om paper towels. In a separate saucepan, melt the grape jelly on low heat, then add the chili and Worcestershire sauces and remaining ingredients. Add the meatballs and heat thoroughly. Serve warm. Makes approximately 40 meatballs.

Veggie/Fruit Salad

  • 1 Bunch Broccoli (Broken into Florets)
  • 1 Cup seedless green grapes
  • 1 Cup seedless red grapes
  • 1 Cup sliced Celery
  • 1 Bunch Green onions, chopped
  • 1/2 Pound bacon, cooked and crumbled
  • 1 Cup slivered almonds
  • 1 Cup Mayonnaise or Miracle Whip
  • 1/4 Cup sugar
  • 2 Tablespoons vinegar
Mix together vegetables, fruit, bacon and almonds. In a separate bowl, stir together the Mayonnaise or Miracle Whip, sugar and vinegar. Combine all ingredients in one large serving bowl and chill for at least one hour.

Who else is watching football today?  Is anybody else a Viking fan?

Counting our blessings,

Mary Beth

Mom Monday: My Son's Wedding Day!

Nothing can prepare you for the love and bond between a mother and her child. This is especially so on your own child's wedding day.

My own wedding feels like it was just yesterday.

I met my husband Richard in college and we married shortly after graduating. A few years into building our lives together as a married couple we decided to have children and start a family. Raising our three children has been the most rewarding experience of my life. Through infancy and childhood, high school and college, it has been an amazing journey. Now they are blossoming into wonderful young adults and are thinking about starting their own families.

My son, David is the first of my children to get married. Seeing him standing at the altar, a handsome young man dressed in a tuxedo, smiling as his beautiful wife Christine walked down the aisle, brought tears to my eyes. All of the stress and agitation that goes along with planning a wedding drifts away and I was overcome with love, joy and happiness. I was proud of the man he had become and excited for their future. I know he will be an incredible husband and has chosen a wonderful young woman to spend his life with.

Everyday is a new page in both my children's lives and in mine. When they were young, I cherished every moment as I watched them grow.  Now, it gives me great joy to see their lives unfold. As my mom once told me, it's like reading a book as I turn the pages and watch their lives blossom.

xoxo,
Susan

Hello everyone- Lauren here.  I hope everyone had a fabulous summer!  Now that the weather is starting to change I am really getting excited about buying and re-wearing all of my go to fall accessories.  I thought I would share my top 5 picks for fall- love to hear your feedback as well on what your go to accessories are…

First I thought I would start out by showing you my prized collection- it has taken many years to get to where I am today- but here is my shoe closet:

 Lauren's Shoe Closet

Being that I am running out of room I have to be particularly picky on what new items I can add to this shoe collection- one in one out is my rule from here on out : )

So obviously shoes are very important to my fall wardrobe, and I think every girl feels that way…

The Number 1 item on my go to list is the ankle boot- this trend has by far outpaced any other trend for fall- here are a few of my favorites that we have for you this fall- I couldn’t just pick one:

 Ankle Boots

The Number 2 item on my go to list is a super comfy scarf.  While it may not be chilly today, that weather is sure to come.  Here is Rebecca the assistant buyer in accessories modeling one of their beautiful scarves (A203327):

 Scarves

The Number 3 item on my list is a croco embossed satchel- satchel of any type will do- but this beauty from orYANY takes the cake.  Here is Jaclyn the assistant buyer in Handbags showing you my favorite bag right now (A236569):

The Number 4 item on my go to list is something eye catching, like arm candy.  Everyone needs a good statement bracelet that can spice up you fall assembles.  Here is one from Joan Rivers that I think is a must:

 Arm Candy

The Number 5 item on my go to fall accessories list is the tall shaft boot.  I personally have several of these; just refer to the above picture.  Once it really gets cold they are my standard pick day in and day out.  Here is one gorgeous pair from Clarks (A218474); I think they will work with casual and more dressed up days:

I hope you all enjoy the beginning of fall- talk soon!
