I’ll admit, I used to be in the same shoes. I love ankle boots but they can be a bit confusing at times...stiletto, stacked heel, or wedge? Do you tuck in or not? Here's what we recommended...

Let’s kick it off with this Isaac Mizrahi Live! stacked heel ankle boot. When I think about work, I think about being comfortable all day running around and standing. You've gotta opt for a stacked heel vs. a stiletto for comfort. This 3-inch height is perfect for standing tall in the office. I'm a fan of the buttery leather and buckle detail. The zipper is great and means easy on and easy off. When it comes to styling this boot, go for slim-leg pants, skinny jeans, leggings or long skirts. You can even try it with a cuffed-up boyfriend jean for a casual Friday. If you want to dress it up, try tights and pair it with a fitted pencil skirt or a classic shift dress.

This boot is available in black, cognac, brandy, navy & bordeaux. I say go with black. Coupled with the classic timeless design of this boot, you'll be wearing it season after season. If you want to be a bit more fashion forward, try the bordeaux. We're seeing this rich deep wine color everywhere for fall from lips to boots.

Next up are the Bare Traps Shaela ankle boots with studs. Studs are everywhere- on bags, wallets, boots and more. This is a lower heel height than the Isaac boot - it's only 1 1/4 inches high & it's a wedge. You can transition this boot from work to weekend when you're out and about running errands. I like showing this entire boot when styling. It's a bit more edgy with the studs so it's great for denim and pants and even more flowy dresses.

It's textile upper & manmade balance so you don't have to worry about getting them wet. Do not miss the velvet inside. It's as soft as your coziest blanket!

It's available in mushroom (a bit of a burnished look on the rounded toe), black and brown. I like the brown because the studs are the most noticeable.

Time for tips!

  • DO: Want to give the illusion of long, slender legs? Match the color of your boots and your pants or tights. Pair black skinny pants with black boots, brown opaque tights with brown boots. The boots will just look like an extension of your never-ending legs ;)
  • DO: If you invest in one great ankle boot, keep them fresh season after season by taking care of them. That means, get rid of the scuffs and the wear and tear by polishing your boots. I promise if you do it right, they'll look brand new and you’ll have them for years to come.
  • DON’T: Fun colorful or patterned socks look cute peeking out from your ankle boots, but plain white socks do not. Make sure to keep white socks rolled down.

Apologies my lovelies (and gentlemen) for the tardiness of this blog. The first two weeks of Sept I was honeymooning in Europe so this month's blog took a backseat to pasta, pizza, croissants, red wine, sunning, swimming, and overall, me dreaming of how I can move to Europe and earn a living. Thus far it would appear my only hope is waiting tables (which I love) street performing (which doesn't require a work permit, but I have no musical or instrumental talent) or begging someone European to adopt me as a grown adult. Frankly, none seem within the realm of possibility but then, Jesus turned water into wine so clearly ..... anything can happen.

I have decided to use this blog to share a bunch of pictures and thoughts about our trip ... sure hope you don't mind.

#1: "Why does the pasta taste so much better here???" ~ Joe, my husband, while eating the most insanely delicious pesto pasta that had us wanting to make love to the plate.

#2: Did you know the Mona Lisa was once stolen and is actually painted on wood, not canvas?

#3: Parisians bike everywhere wearing suits and dresses and carrying baguettes. (If you ever go to Paris, take the "Bike About Tours"!)

#4: Cars in Europe look like toys...and in Italy, they look like Inspector Clousseau just pulled up. Completely darling and entertaining...

#5 Mopeds in Italy are not toys, despite my fascination with being Audrey Hepburn in Roman Holiday. They are heavy like motorcycles and after dodging buses on curvy open roads, Joe had a near panic attack and ordered a stiff drink while I tended to some wound care on his toes after he mistook the accelerator for the brakes.

#6: Eating fish in coastal Italy is an out of body experience.

#7: If you ever visit Portofino, rent a boat from Giorgio's in the harbor. Ask for Tony the driver. Have him take you to San fruttuoso...

#8 ...Then eat lunch at the little restaurant carved into a cliff with ten tables. This will be your view. It is unbelievable that some people call this home. They seriously scored big in the life lottery

#9: Portofino is the most sublime place I have ever been...

#10: And finally, no matter how many times you see the Eiffel tower on postcards or in books...even if you have already seen it before...it is still the most wonderous, incredible emotional experience to round the corner and drink it in from top to bottom in the flesh. It is magnificent.

We're Over the Rainbow About The Wizard of Oz 75th Anniversary!!

As one of the most beloved films of all time celebrates it's 75th Anniversary, we are getting ready to do a bit of celebrating of our own, here at the Q!! I am very excited to present, on September 26th beginning at 9:00pm eastern, a special extravaganza of collectible, beautiful treasures inspired by the movie that has been capturing so many hearts since it debuted in 1939.  With a then unknown Judy Garland as Dorothy Gale, and her ensemble cast of unforgettable friends, who sent us all "over the rainbow"! I was one of those little kids who waited for the movie to be shown on TV just ONCE a year, sitting in a row on the sofa in my feet jammies with my brothers and sisters, eyes wide, squealing with glee when she opens the door after the tornado drops her house on the wicked witch's sister, and the magnificent colors filled the screen!! Of course, for the first few years, we didn't yet own a color TV, so the first time we saw it in color, it was beyond beauty!! My husband was and is, also a fan, and owns a pair of authentic replica ruby slippers as part of his movie memorabilia collection. I've shared a photo of them here, along with some of the other precious items from our Wizard of Oz show!

Our show will feature a lion of sorts, and while there are no life-size ruby slippers in the lineup, or tigers and bears (oh my!) for that matter, there will be SO much more to sing and dance about throughout the two hours!

The sweet toddler dolls pictured here (there's Dorothy, Lion, TinMan, Scarecrow, Glinda and of course, the "Wicked Witch", all made by Adora Dolls (Marie Osmond's doll company) from some of the finest vinyl in the world, and wearing gorgeous costumes! They are meant to be played with, by your little ones, or collected by you and they are precious!  We'll also offer a set of three of Marie's "Bitty Belle" dolls, dressed as Wizard of Oz characters, along with beautiful jewelry, watches, special Philosophy 3-in-1 gels which are exclusive to QVC, fabulous limited edition nail polish colors from Julep, inspired by the film and so much more! There will even be a Mr. Potato Head Set of 4 Wizard of Oz characters and of course, you and your kids and grandkids can mix and match the parts!!  There is so much more and I don't want to spill all the beans, but I hope you will tune in and join the fun and relive the memories of this wonderful, classic, family favorite film!

While I am a true fan of the movie, I am nowhere NEAR the expert that our guest John Fricke is, and John will be joining me for the entire show. John is a Wizard of Oz historian, and will have lots of inside stories and trivia to share with you throughout the show!

So, "follow the yellow brick road" to QVC on September 26th and join in our celebration of the 75th Anniversary of the Wizard of Oz! Your ticket entitles you to watch from the comfort of your living room, since we know better than anyone (except maybe Dorothy), that "there's no place like home" for fabulous shopping!!

See you, "over the rainbow"!!

XO,

Carolyn

Company's Coming! Santa Fe Glazed Chicken with Goat Cheese & Sautéed Shrimp with Tomatoes, Herbs & Feta

I’d love to tell you I’m calm, cool, and collected when I host guests for the weekend. But, I get stressed! I just smile and pretend I don’t. :) Does this sound like you, too? Then be sure to join me tomorrow at 7pm ET and Thursday at 3pm ET for two special You’re Home with Jill episodes that deal with our dilemma at hand: company’s coming!

Let me start by saying that while a smile goes a long way, preparation is really the key. It’s doing the littlest things now so you’re never dealing with that last minute crunch. For me, I like to set the table early; it inspires me because it’s pretty and it makes the rest of the house look great. If I don’t have time to do a deep-down through cleaning, I put lots of pretty things out so they can’t see that I didn’t dust that top shelf! Fresh flowers are a great example…everyone loves to look at flowers. I think the simpler the arrangement, the better it looks.

I also think, too, for company, you can’t put so much pressure on yourself to make everything from scratch. Inevitably, someone always asks what they can bring and I jump on that opportunity. “You can bring wine, thanks.” “Something for dessert would be wonderful.” For those times when it’s not appropriate to ask, I’ll stop at the store while I’m running errands and it’s one less chore on my to-do list.

Now, how about some crowd-pleasing recipes! Both came courtesy of friends…and good friends and good food just seem to go together! Tomorrow, we’re making my Santa Fe Glazed Chicken with Goat Cheese. And, this was actually Carolyn Pollack’s recipe. I absolutely love the southwest. And, actually, right before I met my hubby, I was looking to buy some property in New Mexico because I just love the area and culture so much. Well, Carolyn knew all of that and she sent me this flavorful dish. I tweaked it just a bit to make it a little more gourmet, but it’s still really easy to prepare.

Santa Fe Glazed Chicken with Goat Cheese

Santa Fe Glazed Chicken with Goat Cheese

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp ground black pepper
  • 6 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 3 Tbsp butter
  • 3 Tbsp olive oil
  • 1/4 cup celery, finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup onion, finely chopped
  • 2 Tbsp flat leaf parsley, chopped
  • 1/4 cup chicken stock
  • 1 (10-oz) jar red chile jelly
  • 1 cup goat cheese, crumbled

Directions:

1. Combine the flour, salt, and pepper in a large bowl. Roll the chicken in the flour mixture and shake off excess. Set aside.

2. In a heavy skillet, heat the butter and oil over medium heat. Lightly sauté the celery, onions, and parsley. Remove the veggies from pan with a slotted spoon and reserve.

3. In the same pan, sauté the chicken until lightly browned in the remaining butter and oil. Sprinkle the reserved vegetables on top of each chicken breast. Add the stock, then cover and simmer for 6 minutes.

4. Remove the skillet from the heat and spread each breast with jelly and sprinkle with cheese. Broil until the jelly melts. (The cheese won't melt, but will brown slightly.)

And now, here’s my recipe for YHJ on Thursday: Sautéed Shrimp with Tomatoes, Herbs & Feta.

Sauteed Shrimp with Tomatoes, Herbs & Feta

Sautéed Shrimp with Tomatoes, Herbs & Feta

This recipe is prepared with the Cook’s Essentials® Color Smart 11-Piece Aluminum Nonstick Cookware Set (K36181).

Ingredients:

  • 6 Tbsp olive oil
  • 1/4 cup onion, diced
  • 1-1/2 cups canned chopped tomatoes (juice reserved)
  • 1/2 cup dry white wine
  • 2 Tbsp dried parsley
  • 1/2 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 tsp salt, or to taste
  • 1/4 tsp ground black pepper, to taste
  • 1-1/2 lbs raw shrimp with tails
  • 1/4–1/2 cup Feta cheese, crumbled
  • Cooked pasta (optional, for serving)
  • Cooked rice (optional, for serving)

Directions:

1. Heat the olive oil in a medium-size sauté pan over medium heat. Cook the onion for about 5 minutes and then add the tomatoes (with their juice), wine, parsley, oregano, salt, and pepper and cook for another 5 minutes.

2. Add the shrimp and cook just until pink, approximately 2 minutes. (Be careful not to overcook the shrimp, or they'll taste rubbery.) Add the Feta and cook until melted. Serve over the prepared noodles or rice, if desired.

One of the gals in my neighborhood gave me this recipe….she makes it every year for a cookie exchange and serves it as an appetizer. I always find myself hovering over the bowl. I just love the tomato, feta, and the lightness of it. So, I asked my friend about it and she explained it’s actually more of an entrée that you can serve over rice or pasta, but as I could attest, it’s also a great appetizer. I tweaked this recipe just a bit, but it’s definitely one of my faves. I just love multitasking recipes that taste gourmet but are so easy to make and serve.

So now the only question that remains is…what’s for dessert? Might I suggest my Apple Brownies or Harvest Apple Cake with Cream Cheese Frosting? Both are perfect for the season and sure to please your guests. But remember--if you don't have time to make dessert, visit your local bakery!

I’ll see you tomorrow at 7pm ET and then on Thursday at 3pm ET.

From my home to yours,
—Jill

We've all been there. You've got a something you really like but have no clue how to wear it. This is where StyleonQ comes in. We answer your burning style questions. Here's the latest from Erica Woodward in Chicago, IL...

I'm an account executive at a public relations firm and I'm expected to dress on trend for work. I love ankle boots but I don't know how to wear them. Can you help?

CHI Q&A

Fall Flashes, Fashion Flair and Football Fun!

Hi Everyone,

I am a fan of the seasons. I love all four seasons, each bringing change and something new and completely different. Every three months my senses are freshly intrigued and invigorated.

As a designer, change, growth and differentiation is essential and the arrival of each season, always new and different, inspires and excites me.

The gorgeous colors and cool brisk breezes of Fall refresh my soul, and the leaves in their kaleidoscope of hues, shades and tones, vibrant, earthy and ephemeral, captivate me. The lingering and wind swept leaves are to be beheld and cherished until they fall away and winter begins. But for these next three months, I am glad that the dog days of August are behind me and my new collection to design before me.

 * The beginning of Fall in Central Park.

I am writing this on Sunday the 22nd, the last day of summer and the first day of Autumn. Ron and I traditionally spend this transition day in Central Park before he retires to his study to watch football all afternoon. As soon as I am finished with this blog I will join him, more to share his time than the games.

* Ron’s Study. Yes, he watches two games at a time. Men!

We awakened early and as typical in NYC, when we stepped outside heading to Central Park, literally ran into something new, a Road Race down Fifth Avenue.

* Leaving for the Park.

* Road Race on Fifth Avenue.

We paused to watch the runners speed past us and then ate breakfast in an outdoor café adjacent to the Conservatory Pond where we had bagels and croissants, drank coffee (Ron) and tea (me), while watching the toy sailboats whisk across the water .

* Breakfast

* Conservatory Pond

* Sailboats

After breakfast, we strolled, holding hands, stopping from time to time to take in so many special pleasures.

We sat awhile watching two love birds perched on a small wood raft.

* Love Birds sitting on a board.

* Love Birds kissing.

Then we took our turn at a telescope to see Pale Male, a Red tailed Hawk, with impeccable taste who was squatting with his family in a nest on the ledge of a Penthouse of a white glove Fifth Avenue building.

* A friend looking at at Pale Male.

When the building tried to oust him and his family, the hue and cry of the people stopped the eviction and Pale Male, now a local celebrity, preens in gratitude for his many fans.

* Pale Male in all his splendor. What a ham!

Our next stop was the statue of Alice in Wonderland donated to the city by Mrs. DeLaCort, where our grandchildren loved to come and climb around the Mad Hatter and Cheshire Cat to nest into Alice’s lap.

* Alice & the children! Who doesn't love this?

Our grandchildren are too old for this now but we love to see joy on the faces of the little ones and their parents as they recreate the moments which we shared with our children and grandchildren. Some things thankfully never change.

But Fall really started for me two weeks ago when Fashion Week began in New York, then traveled to London,Paris and Milan. With the kids back in school, I turn to the runways to learn what will be the trends, colors and shapes for the next season. This year I saw mostly monochromes in muted hues, sometimes layered, sometimes "drapey", belt-less and uncomplicated. I loved this because it makes jewelry even more important as the clothes offer a pure backdrop against which jewelry will provide the individuality and personalized style. My goal is to colorize properly and create distinctive designs which will not overwhelm, but complement the clothing.

Before I get too far ahead of myself, I must stay in the present as all of my prior efforts have allowed me to bring to you some very special pieces for this holiday season. So, Fall also signals the start of the all important holiday season. It was last spring’s Fashion Week which inspired this new collection which kicks off on my shows this weekend. Tune in this Saturday, September 28th from 1:00pm to 3:00pm and 8:00pm to 10:00pm and Sunday, September 29th from 4:00pm to 6:00pm, to see the beginnings of my new special collection.

The first new collection is the Sleeping Beauty Turquoise Collection:

These are the only sleeping beauty Turquoise pieces in my collection. The sleeping beauty mine closed over a year ago and the material is very difficult to acquire. I worked closely with the suppliers in order to find the stones and designed around them into appropriate sizes. This is a limited opportunity so do not miss it. I am offering a cuff (J287387), a ring (J287388) and an enhancer (J287389). Turquoise lovers among you will find this particular stone to be unique and appealing.

On Sunday, I will reveal my new Eclipse Collection featuring colored Mother of Pearl with Crystal Quartz to simulate the look of faceted Blush Garnet which I use in my Couture collection. The collection was incredibly popular but Blush Garnet is expensive, very rare and difficult to produce in quantity. Therefore, I recreated the look using Mother of Pearl and Crystal Quartz and it is stunning. There will be button earrings (clip and pierced) (J286569), a double drop earring (J284778), a ring (J284784) and an enhancer (J284795). This last group will not be available until 4:00pm on Sunday as I was afraid it would be sold out before it aired and I wanted everyone to have a fair chance to purchase it. So, no pictures on this blog as I wanted everyone to see it first on the show.

Watch, have fun and let me know what you think.

All my best,

Judith

My Weekend At The Adirondack Balloon Festival!

I wanted to share my weekend in upstate NY at the Adirondack Balloon Festival in case you missed it!

Here we are at the airport.  We began our live hits from the rooftop!

Q Fans came over to say "Hi"!!

My stylist & friend came to make me look beautiful!  Thanks, Dina!

The balloons are transported to the field in a small trailer.  The crew lays it in prep for the basket.

They fill the balloon with cold air first & then blast the hot air to get it off the ground.

The basket is attached & our pilot is giving us instructions before the flight.

I'm in & ready for flight!!

This was my view during the flight...gorgeous, serene, peaceful!

We landed safely!  Next stop...the Flloyd Bennett Memorial Airport!

After we were finished shooting for the day, Jim, Iz & I headed over to check out the kiddo shapes!  Iz loved it, but it was a little bit loud.  I think we're seeing Spider-pig's feet.

The next morning we had free.  So, we took a trip to Lake George.

Saturday was a bummer.  Oodles of wind so the balloons couldn't take off.  This is me in the hotel doing an interview with a local paper.  Fun!  Btw-notice the clogs...they're coming up during FFANY Shoes on Sale in Oct!!

A great event & time was had by all at the Adirondack Balloon Festival!  (Again...notice the boots...coming up on Oct during FFANY Shoes on Sale!). A big thanks to Carrie & the on-site Q crew & Mark Donahue from the ABF & all his peeps!!!

I have gotten two different questions a few times this week and wanted to share the answers in this week’s blog. #1) What is “Social Sunday?” #2) How do I get to the In the Kitchen with David Live Chat? I love questions! And, I really love it when I know the answers to your questions. So, let’s tackle them one at a time.

We talk about “Social Sunday” on every Sunday edition of In the Kitchen with David. Simply put, we highlight ONE of David Venable QVC’s social platforms on each of our Sunday shows to show you what we are up to there. David wrote a GREAT blog a while back about how to get started on Facebook, YouTube, Pinterest, Instagram, and Twitter. This should help get you pointed in the right direction to start!

I host a live chat on David’s Facebook page throughout every episode of ITKWD. You are always welcome to join: newcomers are encouraged! We have such a friendly, supportive group of friends and we talk about anything and everything. At the start of the show: go to Facebook.com, get to David Venable’s page, and look for a photo that says, “CHAT HERE.” (See the photo below for an example). Add your comments to that photo, keep refreshing your page to see the latest comments, and that’s it! You’re chatting with our fantastic foodie community!

I sure hope this helps. Please let me know if you have any other questions…I’m here to help! Thanks for reading today’s blog…more to come next week!

DIY Antique Metallic Vase - All You Need Is Spray Paint, Vinegar & Water!

$
0
0

How much do you love that antique metallic finish you see on lamps, vases, and picture frames? It just looks so elegant and refined, doesn’t it? But, I’m afraid you get what you pay for. The price tags on almost all of those pieces can be pretty steep…especially if the item is a true antique.

So here’s a fun idea for this weekend: make your own “antique” pieces! All you need is some metallic spray paint, vinegar, and water. And, this is what you get! This was just a clear glass vase before and now it has so much more charm. I just love how the flameless candle—which was something I just had on hand—makes that "antique" finish really come through.

Antique Metallic Vase

Here’s what you need:
•    Krylon’s Looking Glass Spray Paint
•    1 cup vinegar & 1 cup water in a spray bottle
•    Paper towels
•    Glass item to decorate (vase, lamp base, etc.)

Now, here’s what you do:
1.    Wash the item in warm, soapy water and dry it thoroughly.
2.    Some DIY’ers will tell you to decorate the inside of your item so the finish lasts longer. But, I use this vase true to form and didn’t want the paint/vinegar residue to kill my fresh flowers. So I sprayed the outside with vinegar and water. (You’re likely to get some big drops, which is really what you want, because it makes the vase look “antique” and not just spray painted. But, be careful—those drops run and you’ll want to dab them with a paper towel.)
3.    Now, spray on a thin layer of paint (the vinegar should still be wet) and let it dry for a minute.
4.    Spray on another coat of vinegar and water, let it dry for a 2-3 minutes, and lightly sponge off the mixture with your towels.
5.    Repeat steps 2-4 until you’re satisfied…mine looked great after three coats.

It's The Season Finale of The Wishful Dish

It's the last Wishful Dish of the season, and I'm looking forward to fall!  When it gets chilly outside, I love to warm up with a delicious bowl of soup.  The best part is you can control your ingredients and the amount of sodium when you make it yourself.  So, for the Friday Night Meal this week, we have new crab and shrimp cakes from The Great Gourmet.  Asparagus and seafood go so beautifully together, and recently I enjoyed a crab cake at a party that was paired with an asparagus soup.  It was a wonderful combination!   Now, if you are not so sure about asparagus, rest assured that this soup is subtle and creamy, with a pop of freshness from the lemon juice.  My suggestion is to get a very affordable immersion blender, because it makes preparing all soups at home so much easier. I hope you enjoy it!

Asparagus Soup

 Ingredients:

 3 Tbsp. butter

 1 onion, chopped

 1 clove garlic, crushed

Salt and freshly ground black pepper

2 pounds of asparagus, ends trimmed and cut into 1-inch pieces

6 cups low sodium chicken stock

1 pint sour cream, room temperature

 1/4 tsp. fresh lemon juice

Directions:

Melt butter in a large saucepan over medium-high heat. Add onion, and sauté for about 4 minutes. Add garlic, and sauté 1 minute more.  Add asparagus and sauté for another 4 minutes. Add chicken stock and bring to a boil. Reduce to a simmer and cook for about 30 minutes, until the asparagus is very tender. If you have an immersion blender, add the sour cream and lemon juice and blend in the saucepan until smooth.  If you don't have an immersion blender, very carefully transfer the mixture into a blender (in batches, if necessary), and purée it until it's smooth.  Since the liquid will be hot, let it cool for a couple of minutes before blending, and make sure the pitcher is only filled about halfway for each batch.  It's creamy, delicious, and satisfying!

Tip:  I always love to cook in a way to get the kids involved.  This is a perfect opportunity to have the kids help with the asparagus.  The woody ends need to be removed, and every stalk is different.  After rinsing them clean, just have the kids take each piece, and gently break the end off.  It will naturally break in the right spot for each piece, and we don't need any knives for that part!

For the blending, you can use your Vitamix, Ninja, or another blender.  But for soups, I truly love the immersion blender, because it makes them effortless.  You will find that you reach for it over and over again!

I also have something brand new from Cheryl's that will get its only presentation at the Featured Price in my show.  It's all Special Offers for the season finale, so please join me on Monday at 5pm!

Lots of exciting new things coming your way this fall, including one of my favorite Shark Tank items! Cordaroy’s  Bean Bag Bed, a plush bean bag chair that turns into a bed is launching on QVC this Friday 9/27 at 8PM EST perfect for every home with its double uses! Not only is it the most comfortable bean bag you’ve EVER sat in (feels like sitting on a cloud), but you unzip it & it turns into a full size bed (feels like sleeping on a cloud)! Perfect for sleepovers, grandparent’s house, dorm rooms, instant guestroom etc. , the possibilities are really endless! I have a feeling it’s going to fly off the shelves, so hope you don’t miss your chance;)

You can also expect many new great gift items coming this fall, many which you may have seen on Shark Tank. I have been working on so many items I think you guys will absolutely love not only for yourselves, but also to give as gifts. Many of which actually come with multiples just for that reason (keep one for you & give one, two or three away).

You may remember seeing these girls on Shark Tank last season; the sisters from Stella Valle.  I have designed with them a new piece that I think you will adore and it will be launching on QVC. I can’t give away too much, but keep a look out for it, join me on my newsletter  & I’ll let you know when it’s launching.

As you know, I’ve had a very busy summer in LA, shooting season 5 of Shark Tank, which also included a trip to the Creative Arts Emmys. Unfortunately, Shark Tank didn’t win, but it was such a fun experience & the Emmy awards were even more stunning in real life! Hopefully next year I’ll get to bring one home with me.

My Simplified Skin-Care Routine, Alterna Hair Essentials & More

Long time, no talk, fellow beauty lovers!

Did you have a nice summer? I hope you were able to kick back and enjoy lots of quality time with your family and friends. I apologize for my blogging hiatus. Summer is always an especially busy time for QVC Beauty. We work hard to give you everything you need to look and feel fabulous during the warmer months (aren’t BB and CC creams with built-in SPF the best?) while giving you access to cool-weather classics and the most current products so you can begin prepping your beauty bags for fall. Plus, I bought my first house in June, so my summer was busier than ever! All the stress leading up to my settlement really took a toll on my skin. It was so intense that the beauty routine I relied on for so long was rendered ineffective, which, of course, stressed me out even more! While I was unpacking, I rediscovered some long-lost favorites I knew would be gentle on my irritated skin: philosophy purity made simple facial cleanser and microdelivery exfoliating wash. That’s when I decided to take a break from the stronger products I was using and get back to the basics.

I simplified my morning skin-care routine so it just consists of washing my face with purity made simple for about 60 seconds during my shower, following up with Dr. Denese HydroShield Hydrating Dream Cream (which my skin craves), and finishing with an SPF. Before bed, I take my makeup off with a dime-size amount of purity, exfoliate with microdelivery for about 30 seconds to wash away any debris from the day, and then moisturize with Dream Cream. I’ll occasionally add philosophy microdelivery brightening peel pads into the mix at night. Both regimens are quick and easy, and my results have been consistently outstanding. When you have problem skin, compliments on your complexion make you feel like a million bucks. I started getting them after I refreshed my routine and my confidence has been soaring ever since.

Another problem I encountered as a result of buying a home is having more than one full bathroom. I'm kidding, I know it’s not a problem (in fact, it’s just the opposite!), but I’m not used to having to keep two showers stocked with the essentials! Instead of doubling up on the shampoo and conditioner I had been using, I decided to splurge on Caviar Alterna Moisture Shampoo and Conditioner to add some luxurious amenities to my guest bathroom. Of course, I couldn’t resist trying them after reading their amazing reviews, and now they’ll never be leaving my shower (sorry, fam and friends). Alterna products are known for their tress-transforming benefits, and this duo delivers. You know how your hair feels right after you get it cut? That’s how mine feels every time I wash and condition it with Alterna Caviar. I don’t use it every day because I’m trying to conserve it, but when I do, I’m instantly reminded of the undeniable difference it makes in the look of my locks. I got my hair colored at the end of August, so I should be thinking about making another appointment, right? Nope! Just the other day, someone asked me if I got my hair dyed again because the color looked extra fresh and rich. I hardly ever go a day without shampooing or using styling tools, so I know these products are keepers!

Have you made any updates to your routines or beauty bags for fall? If so, let me know!
