Which is More Important: Portion Control or Food Choices?

0
0

On my Facebook page, Debbie Cook asked me which is more important: what you eat or portion control. I know we've had some fun answering which is our biggest struggle, but in reality, they are both important and I think they each impact the other.

I hear people say that you can eat anything you want as long as you eat a small enough amount. Those people have obviously never taken their life in their hands by risking being between me and a great tub of ice cream. What I start, I will finish. There are starving children in the world, (I can hear my mother saying), and wasting food bothers me. Wasting food I really love? Impossible.

So my theory is that portion control is important, but the healthier your diet, the more food you can eat. So I try to find good foods that I love, so I can enjoy enough of them to feel satisfied. I realize there are a million different definitions of the perfect diet, so let me summarize that I try to go with high protein, moderate fat, low carb, no sugar. Throughout this past year I have tried a lot of different recipes and posted them. I wanted to have all of these recipes posted in one place so they're now on my recipe page on QVC.com. Here's just one that you'll find there. :)

Lentil and Chicken Stew
Makes 16 servings

Ingredients:

2 tsp olive oil
2 (6-oz) boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cubed
Pinch each sea salt and fresh ground black pepper
2 tsp curry powder
2 cloves garlic, minced
1–1/2 cups dry green lentils, rinsed
1 cup low-sodium chicken broth
3 cups cold water

Optional Toppings:

Greek yogurt
Cilantro, chopped

Directions:

Heat the olive oil in a Dutch oven over medium-high heat. Season the chicken with salt and pepper, and then cook in the pot for 3–4 minutes, turning occasionally, until lightly browned. Add the curry powder and garlic and cook, stirring, until fragrant, about 1 minute.

Add the lentils to the pot and stir to coat. Stir in the chicken broth and water and bring to a boil. Reduce the heat to medium and cook, stirring occasionally, until the lentils are tender and most of the liquid is absorbed, about 30 minutes. Season to taste with salt and pepper, add your preferred toppings, and serve in soup bowls.

It's always nice to have something new to try! And if you're snowed in, this could be the perfect time to try one. :) Here's to food that tastes good and doesn't leave you feeling icky or guilty!

See you soon!

Eenie, Meenie, Miney, Moe- With Which Color Dooney Will Amy Go?

0
0

Who's ready to talk about the Dooney & Bourke TSV?? I'm loving everything about this bag from the size to the chevron pattern, but there's only one issue. How am I supposed to pick one out of eight amazing colors??

Since I couldn't possibly have one in every color, I decided to ask some of my friends around the Q for a little help in narrowing down my options. Here are some pictures to document my Dooney-filled day:

I started with the handbag buyers, Jaclyn and Dana, who clearly couldn't help in picking just one lol! (Big thank you to these ladies who brought this beautiful bag to us in the first place!)

The next gal on my list was Gabrielle Kerr because this woman knows her bags!!

I ran into some friends outside of the host lounge where guests check in and hang out...

Karen, Nube, and Mary were quick to pick their favorite bags and pose for a picture!! These ladies know their style!

Maureen, one of our models, picked up the pink and I think it looks great with her turquoise top!

My friend Mary told me she was a "red girl," so I wasn't surprised she picked this bag!

One of the lovely WEN models was super excited to throw the pink over her shoulder while getting ready in the salon!

Tarte model, Chrissy picked out the black Dooney to match her outfit! She looks fabulous as always!

I even brought out some of the girls from the Talent Department (Wendy, Katie, and Bryony) PS: Bryony was here visiting us from QVC UK!!!

Our lovely set designers, Rose and Lauren, took a break from their work for a quick Dooney photo shoot out on the set!!

I even bumped into Mary Beth Roe by the offices near the set. It seems like we are in the same pickle!

Well ladies, after hours of research it looks like the pink and black chevron were favored by most, but I'm still not sold!! Please pass on some guidance with your favorite color to help me make a decision! Don't forget to treat yourself to the Dooney TSV. After all, you do deserve it!!

Give Me 50!

Meg at age 3

So, it's not every day that an on-camera spokesperson announces her age on live television. But when you have the power of StriVectin to meet your skin-aging needs, you somehow are free to do just that! That's why I announce my age in just about every airing on QVC (and my exact birth date to remind my husband to plan something special!).

I look forward to 50. I really do. Why?

I believe it says to the world that I've lived, learned, and earned the opportunity to teach others. That maybe, just maybe I've acquired some wisdom along the way. Wisdom to realize how blessed I am to care for one parent while honoring the other who has passed. Blessed to mentor those who call me "Auntie Meg." To appreciate my husband (who took some time to find!) while spoiling a cat who doesn't let me sleep. That I get to share my words and melodies off camera, and my passion for StriVectin on camera. How grateful I am to you, my QVC family, for generously tuning in to hear what I have to say.

This year, I encourage you to join me and embrace your age. We live in a time when we know good nutrition and exercise, along with an advanced antiaging skin-care regimen, can help ease the appearance of aging. I don't have the body I once had. I don't have the boundless energy I once had. But, I get to help myself look and feel more confident with StriVectin.

So, there it is, friends. On February 14, 1964, an almost 10-pound baby girl was born and she's just getting started!

Tell me, how do you plan to embrace your age this year?

Youthfully yours,

—Meg Flather

How Do I Love Thee?

I wasn’t going to write about Valentine’s Day, but then I came across this picture. This guy right here is the love of my life.  Together we have created a beautiful family, an innovative business, a loving partnership. Sometimes amidst the noise of daily life, of raising the kids, of the dog barking, of work deadlines looming, I can forget to tell him everything he means to me and how lucky I feel to have found him. (Are you reading this, Honey?)

Samantha

This is the time of year where I remind myself how blessed I am and to tell the folks I love just how much– myself included.

As women we can be so hard on ourselves.  Why can it be so difficult to see our own beauty? Beauty that comes from wisdom, experience, and self-care.  This year I am resolving to be kinder to myself. When I’m kinder to myself, I feel more confident, and when I feel confident, I can take on the world.

A big part of my confidence begins with beautiful skin.  I was not blessed with a flawless canvas and so I need to work a little magic to put my best face forward.  Nothing fancy, just my TEMPTU AIRbrush Perfection Kit.  I see it as the easiest way for me to look like the best version of myself.  Don’t we all deserve that? And when I see that reflection in the mirror, I feel ready to share the best part of myself with those I love.

In what special ways will you show folks you love them? Let’s talk more about it on Beauty IQ on February 11 at 3:00am ET!

Hello, ladies! We are happy to report that things are quackin’ along with the style YOU voted on and selected for our “Quacker Factory Garden Party” show coming up this April – the “Quacker Factory Pen and Ink Floral Fantasy”. You are now just a few short months from seeing the final result!

A couple of months have passed since we last checked in with the Quacker Factory Design Team and what’s been happening “Behind the Seams”.

Today we want to take you inside the offices at QVC to see how QVC and the Quacker Factory Design Team work together to bring you these quack-tabulous fashions that are “Designed to Shine”!

Every month, a meeting is held with QVC, Tim Bice, and the Quacker Factory Team. At this meeting, we present all of the styles to choose from for a specific month of airtime – let’s say April, for example. Together, we choose the best of the best styles for all of the Quacker Factory shows during that month. But this time, it was YOU the customer, who got to choose one of the styles for April – and we are happy be able to make you exactly what YOU wanted!

Once we have selected the styles that will be in the show, additional decisions need to be made. For each style, we select how many colors that style will be offered in. We also make any styling changes needed so the design will look it’s best! We want all of our customers to be happy because, after all, happy ladies shine brighter!

After the monthly meeting, we get back to work finalizing the prototype sample. We make any final changes to the artwork that are needed. We also make any final changes to the placement of the design on the garment. We receive approval samples to take a final look at all of the changes we’ve made.

When everything looks PERFECT with the approval sample, then that style is ready to have a fitting. Fittings are held at QVC with live fit models in a variety of sizes. This allows both QVC and Quacker Factory to make sure that the style looks great and fits well on a real person.

After all the details are in place, we can finally get quackin’ making one for each one of you! And I’m happy to report, this beautiful style is just about ready for you to see it and to add to your Quacker wardrobe!

So stay tuned!! There will be one more installment of “Behind the Seams” when you will be able to see Angel getting ready for the Garden Party show backstage and you will finally see the finished “Quacker Factory Pen and Ink Floral Fantasy”!

If you haven’t already signed up to receive an email alert from Quacker Factory when this style is available to purchase – just click HEREand Quacker Factory will be sure to let you know! It won’t be long now, ladies!

Top 10 Valentine's Day Recipes

Happy (almost!) Valentine’s Day, foodies!

Anyone can make dinner reservations at a fancy restaurant. But it takes someone with confidence, creativity, and ambition (pssssst--that’s you!) to make your sweetheart a romantic meal at home. Are you ready, foodies? Here are my top 10 Valentine’s Day recipes:

Bacon-Wrapped Blue Cheese-Stuffed Dates

Start the evening off with my Bacon-Wrapped Blue Cheese-Stuffed Dates. Every ingredient you need to make these is in the title of the recipe: blue cheese, dates, bacon. Some things just needn’t be overdone! Plus, if you make my bacon-wrapped filets, you’re making the most of your ingredients!

French Onion Soup Dumplings

My French Onion Soup Dumplings are the ultimate appetizer—they’re a finger food and soup in one. If you have trouble making the “purses,” as directed, just fold the dumplings in half from corner to corner and make triangles. Your sweetheart will still be impressed!

Easy, Elegant Lobster Bisque

Talk about the ultimate indulgence. Spoil your sweetheart with my Easy, Elegant Lobster Bisque. It's smooth and sinfully delicious. Make it the day before to save time on Valentine’s Day and just set it over low until warm. And, if shrimp or crab meat is more attainable, use it instead of the lobster.

Bacon-Wrapped Beef Tenderloin with Red Wine SauceMy Bacon-Wrapped Beef Tenderloin with Red Wine Sauce tastes like something you’d order at a five-star steakhouse. Merlot, Malbec, or Shiraz are all great options for the red wine sauce. Serve the rest of the bottle with dinner and you’ve got a no-brainer perfect pairing.

Filet Wellington Bites

Try my Filet Wellington Bites if you’d like something a little more unique. If you’re making a lot of dishes, you might consider this entrée because it’s smaller than the previous recipe. You might even serve these as an appetizer, considering you can eat them with your fingers.

Chicken Breast with White Wine & Mushroom Cream Sauce

If you or your sweetie has more of a chicken and white wine kind of palate, you’ll love my Chicken Breast with White Wine and Mushroom Cream Sauce. Talk about easy! I would suggest a Chardonnay or Pinot Grigio with this recipe.

Cauliflower Mashed Potatoes

Whether you opt for beef or chicken, my Cauliflower Mashed Potatoes with the beef tenderloin. You’ll fill your “veggie” requirement and it won’t seem like you’re eating vegetables. Lighten the dish up, if you like, with low-fat cream cheese and light butter or margarine.

Side Stuffing with Artichokes & Cremini Mushrooms

Again, great with beef or chicken. My Side Stuffing with Artichokes & Cremini Mushrooms is as fresh and different as it sounds. Take the time to grate your own Parmesan cheese—don’t buy the kind in a jar. The flavor will just be so much richer!

Chocolate-Cherry Valentine's Heart Bars

If you’re a planner (and if so, go YOU!) you can make these Chocolate Cherry Valentine’s Heart Bars now and freeze them until Valentine’s Day eve. (Heck, you could even make them this June for next year—they’ll last about eight months in the fridge!) Or, as with the soup, make them the day before so you’re less stressed the night of your big dinner.

Chocolate-Champagne Truffles

You know what would be really romantic? If you made these Chocolate-Champagne Truffles and put them in a gift box! You just might get out of a card and flowers with this idea. MIGHT.

You can find all of these recipes on one easy-to-reference pin. Check out my Pinterest page if you haven’t already!

A Moccasin That is a MUST!

Hi my girls! Today is an incredibly special day at QVC for me because I'm bringing you an item that is truly one of the hallmarks of my brand. This moccasin is EVERYTHING! It represents sophisticated, American style at its best. If there were ever something that adds beauty and pleasure to a woman's wardrobe, it's this shoe. Anything you wear it with is immediately chic. I'm telling you, girls, you need this…in SO many colors. Also, the comfort. MAJOR. You can wear this shoe all day, and trust me, you'll want to! The quality of the suede with the gorgeous metal detail give the look of a really expensive shoe. It's also the most versatile thing you'll buy, I swear. I love it with my 24/7 pants for a more casual look, but I love it most with a dress or skirt – it's really fresh. I hope you tune in today to see the millions of ways we're showing you how to wear this shoe. One of my favorites things I hear from my fans is how you collect particular items – cardigans or watches, or my moccasins. And this is one addition to the collection that is a MUST!

See you on the air!

Mom Monday: Life Is Good

When QVC told me about Mom Monday, I jumped.  After all, who wouldn’t love the chance to brag about her kids!

There is no greater joy than becoming a parent.  And I’m blessed to have experienced this three times with my beautiful sons.

Close in age, they grew up together, going to the same high school and even sharing the same friends. Yet as similar as their circumstances were, their personalities could not be more individual or distinct. Here’s what I mean.

Peter was my first. Focused, driven and independent, he took his role as “older brother” quite seriously. It was clear from the start that Peter was the type of person to set a goal and follow through. His real estate business is a perfect example of his perseverance.

David is the middle child, born with endless warmth and an easy going way. He was always great to be around! As a child he showed an early interest in the business and shared my passion for jewelry and fascination with gemstones.  David received his GIA certification and joined the company just after college. He’s been here ever since, and  loved by all at Judith Ripka.

My youngest, Brian, is a “go-getter”.  With boundless energy and a true entrepreneurial spirit,  Brian is happiest when juggling multiple projects at once. His smile is infectious and his charm is, well, charming!

Fast forward to today and my boys are grown men with families of their own. I’m thrilled with their success and accomplishments, but far more important, is the happiness they have achieved in their lives.  When they are around, there is love and laughter. When we are all together – usually during holidays or summers at the beach – I realize how blessed we are and how true Peter’s words were several years ago when he simply wrote…Dear Mom, Life is good.

How to Make the Best of Your Snow Days

New York is experiencing a REAL winter. It's feels like the first time in years we've had so much snow. My snowboots are getting a workout. Lots of storms, sleet and slush and all that leads to one thing: snow days! Since we are being forced to stay indoors, it’s super important to have lots of great ideas for how to keep entertained during inclement weather. I’d love to swap stories of fun indoor activities with you in the comments!

First things first, anytime I have an extended period of time at home I love to cook. This is great because it’s an activity for the whole family. Ashvin, my son, will “cook with mommy” imitating what I’m doing in the kitchen while playing with a bowl and whisk. I’m busy whipping up banana nut muffins, homemade pasta, anything and everything that is warm and filling. Comfort food is perfect for cold snowy days. My husband certainly agrees, and though he doesn’t always participate, he definitely enjoys the results!

Spaghetti!

Once we’re well fed, Ashvin and I love curling up with a good book. Ashvin will request to be read to, and especially likes reading the same books over and over. This way, he can predict what’s on the next page and read along with me. Sometimes if he gets sleepy enough, he’ll take a nap and then I can read for myself a while. So relaxing and enriching. Has anyone read any great books lately?

After good food and nice cozy time, Ashvin loves to do some coloring. He yells "pen and paper" and then I know it’s time. He can also stay occupied for hours doing puzzles, it’s so fun to watch him figure out all the pieces! Anything with the alphabet or numbers keeps him happy.

Finally, since we’ve had so many of these snowy days, sometimes you do have to venture out of the house. Recently, I took Ashvin to the American Museum of Natural History. He absolutely loved it and we spent all day wandering around, and seeing the show at Hayden Planetarium. I also love going out to the movies for a little quiet time. Recently my team and I had a great outdoor chilly weather outing at the nearby Bryant Park skating rink. So much fun and such great exercise!

Ice Skating!

It’s so great to have so much at our fingertips! But if you’re really stuck inside, what do you like to do?

TEMPTU AIRbrush Makeup: The At-Home Star Treatment

I’m going to start this post off a little differently with a multiple choice question.

My question to you is:

Who do you think wears high-performance, professional-quality airbrush makeup?

A. Bridal-party members and prom attendees

B. Everyday women

C. Celebrities and models

The answer is all of the above thanks to TEMPTU AIRbrush makeup. For an everyday woman like me, it turns any day into a special occasion by making me feel like a movie star. It’s a favorite of pro makeup artists because it gives their clientele flawless-looking, airbrushed skin, but it’s not just for them. It’s so easy and quick to use that it’s practical for every woman, every day.

If you’re new to the idea of at-home airbrush makeup, have thought about getting a TEMPTU in the past, or are considering giving one as a gift (it would make an unbelievable Valentine’s Day present!), we have the perfect kit for you coming up on Tuesday, February 11 at 3am ET during Beauty Breakthroughs. Our back-to-the-basics, foundation-only kit is all you need to get hooked on the truly flawless, luminous results that TEMPTU AIRbrush makeup delivers. Then, you can add the other essentials to your collection at your convenience. I highly recommend the AIRpod Blush, which I love because it looks so natural. It provides a just-right flush of dewy color. And I also can’t be without the AIRpod Highlighter. It gives your complexion a radiant glow that glamorizes your look.

I’ve sang TEMPTU’s praises before (see my blog post from October 2012) and I’ll sing them again because, put simply, their airbrush system is the ultimate makeup tool. It’s got the beauty industry buzzing and professional makeup artists talking. It helps many famous faces look their most beautiful and it’ll make you look and feel like you’re on Hollywood’s A-list, too. Flawless-looking skin makes the TEMPTU AIRbrush makeup system worth every penny, but the confidence it delivers is priceless.

Happy Valentine’s Day (a little early)!

Just Keep Pedaling!

It’s (another) snow day, kids are home from school (again,) the Internet & cable are flickering from the intermittent power outages caused by another foot of wet heavy snow, and getting out of our pajamas before noon is probably not happening.

It’s February but it feels like we are still on Christmas break since our kids have been out of school more than they have been in so far this year.  I have been trying so hard to keep up with my fitness routine but it seems like Mother Nature is working double time against me.  I don’t belong to a gym, even though I was a spin, aerobics, yoga, Pilates (insert latest fitness craze here) instructor for over a decade.

Since kids, I have found that I save time by just putting on a pair of walking or running shoes, some good tunes, hopefully grabbing a good friend and hitting the road.  But, that is much easier when you live in San Diego than it is when you live in Philadelphia in January.  So, since getting out of my back door is, of late, impossible - truly physically impossible since 2 feet of snow has piled up in 4 degree weather and my shoveling skills are lacking - I often push around some furniture in my small (tiny, miniscule, NY apartment sized) farm house and throw on Barre3 or Insanity or Tracy Anderson and get in 30 minutes of cardio & resistance while my offspring is in their 3 hours a day, 4 days a week preschool.

This brings us back to today.  A day like nearly every other day this year; the kids are not in school, they need constant attention and food and entertainment and it looks like once again, Tracy, Shaun T. & I are not going to get in our speed date. Enter Sit N Cycle.

I’ll admit that the first time I presented this at QVC I wasn’t impressed.  I had been a spinning instructor and I used to road bike in California for more than 20 miles at a time.  I know a good hard bike workout, and this is not that.  But, I thought it would be a great idea to put at my desk at home, or better yet, at my husband’s desk so I could get in a bit of activity while balancing the family budget or he could get in any activity at all!

The whole idea is not to get a hard-core work out.  It’s not a spin bike, or a bike you would find at the gym.  It’s for those of us who are so busy they can’t change into workout clothes and devote a half hour each day to sweating it out.  It’s active sitting.  It’s for jumping on any time during the day for even just a few minutes of heart healthy cardio.  It’s for executives to put at their desks instead of a chair so they are constantly engaging their core.  It’s for busy moms who have zero time to themselves. They can wheel the super lightweight chair around the house and outside to get a few minutes of exercise while they watch the kids play.  Active sitting means you can put it anywhere that you usually lounge - in front of the TV, by the couch, in the kitchen, and use it as a chair…. A chair that helps you move a little and contract those tummy muscles.

I’ve seen it used by our back stage crew while they are punching buttons.

People have told me they use it while reading, knitting, talking on the phone, during commercials, and even rocking a baby.  Don’t laugh, but over Thanksgiving we had so many people at our house and two unexpected last minute guests, and not enough chairs let alone space in our small (cramped, microscopic, miniature) old farm house, so I rolled the Sit N Cycle up to our table for the biggest meal of the year.  Now, I didn’t actually cycle, because my husband would have scolded me for taking this work out thing a bit too far, but I was sitting up straight and utilizing my core while I stuffed it full of yummy food.

Even in a very small (teeny, wee, miniature) home such as mine it is perfect because you can move it around easily and it has a very small footprint.  In fact a small place is even better, because that way, you see it all the time and gives you a better chance of actually using it!

Which brings us back to storm Maximus, (what is it with these names the Weather Channel assigns?) of early February.  My kids were not going to allow me to get in 30 minutes of exercise in one sitting; they are like 4-year-old infants that seem to need to eat every 15 minutes.  So my only hope to get in some cardio, short of running up and down my stairs, is to hop on the Sit n Cycle, crank up the resistance and get in 2, 5, 10 minutes here and there throughout the day.  It all adds up and I feel good knowing I can still be a very present mom and get in some core work and cardio at the same time.

There is guilt that comes with taking time away from my family to work out but I do it most days because I know that if I exercise, I am healthy, and that will keep me around longer for my girls.  My greatest fear in life is leaving them early.  I have been losing my mom since I was 30 and it has crushed me.  I will do everything those doctors and scientists tell me to do in order to keep my mind sharp and my heart and body strong well into my 80’s 90’s and beyond.  Plus, for me, exercise clears my head and keeps the worry away.  And let me tell you, biking away my blues during yet another monster snowstorm is crucial.  Downed power lines, acres of snow to shovel & an energy bill equal to 3 months’ pay at my 1st TV job is enough to make a girl worry like crazy!!!

Keep pedaling Kerstin, keep pedaling!

I’d love to answer any questions you might have about the Sit N Cycle or any other wellness, mommy or QVC related question.  You can find me at www.facebook.com/kerstinlindquistqvc  or on twitter www.twitter.com/kerstinlindqvc

Have a blessed day and get moving!!!

Chocolate-Raspberry Mousse Cups! What's Your Favorite Chocolate Combo?

Hello, foodies…

Who’s ready for spring. (Besides me?) Southeastern Pennsylvania got HAMMERED this week by some serious winter weather and there are still lots of folks without power. I had a brief outage on Wednesday and was SO grateful when the power company had me up and running by that evening…isn’t it amazing how quiet your house is when you don’t have power? I’m surprised every time.

Keep all those folks without power in your thoughts. AND, please keep all the utility workers—who are no doubt working around the clock—in your prayers as well. And, let’s all think happy, spring thoughts, shall we? Never mind that silly groundhog!

And, how about we all think about CHOCOLATE! Here’s a look at Sunday’s recipe…my Chocolate-Raspberry Mousse Cups.

Chocolate-Raspberry Mousse Cups

Ingredients:

Chocolate Cups:

  • 20 oz semisweet chocolate chips

Chocolate Mousse:

  • 1/4 cup light corn syrup
  • 2-1/4 cups heavy whipping cream
  • 12 oz semisweet chocolate chips
  • 2 Tbsp (1/4 stick) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

 Toppings for Assembly:

  • 12 Tbsp seedless raspberry jam
  • 4 oz whipped topping
  • 12 fresh raspberries
  • 12 mint leaves

Preparation:

Line a 12-cup muffin pan with paper liners and set aside.

To prepare the chocolate cups, place the semisweet chocolate chips in a heat-safe bowl and set aside.

Fill a medium-size sauc epot 1/3 of the way full with water and bring to a boil. Turn off the heat and then place the bowl with the chocolate chips on top of the sauce pot, and let sit for 3–5 minutes. (I always seem to over-fill my sauce pot with water, and then it spills everywhere. Even though it may seem like not enough, 1/3 full is plenty!)

Lightly whisk the chocolate chips until fully melted. Remove the bowl from the saucepot.

Pour 1 Tbsp of the melted chocolate into each liner and with a small pastry brush, spread the chocolate to completely cover the inside of the paper cup liner. Refrigerate the cups for 10 minutes. Once chilled, add another Tbsp of melted chocolate and spread again to evenly cover the previous layer of chocolate. Refrigerate until needed.

To prepare the chocolate mousse, place the chocolate chips in a medium-size bowl and set aside. Pour the cream and the corn syrup into a medium-size saucepan and bring to a boil. Pour the hot cream mixture over the chocolate chips, and let stand for a couple of minutes. Add the butter and vanilla and whisk lightly until the chocolate chips are completely melted and the mixture is fully incorporated. Refrigerate for 45 minutes, or until cold, stirring occasionally.

Place the cooled chocolate mixture into the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with the wire whip attachment. Beat the mixture until light and fluffy, making sure not to over whip.

To assemble the mousse cups, scoop 1 Tbsp of the raspberry jam into each of the chocolate cups.

Next, pipe an equal amount of the chocolate mousse into each cup, then pipe a small dollop of whipped topping in the middle of each mousse cup.

Place one fresh raspberry and one mint leaf on the whipped topping. Keep refrigerated until ready to serve.

Here’s a behind-the-scenes angle. Not only were we capturing steps from this recipe, but we shot a start-to-finish video! What do you think?

Yes. You should make this today. It IS as good as it looks and I just may make it for dinner. While you dream about that dish, tell me what’s your favorite chocolate combination. Is it chocolate and peanut butter? Chocolate and strawberry? Maybe chocolate and bacon!? I’ll see you on Sunday for In the Kitchen with David at Noon ET. I’m looking forward to it.

Keep it flavorful!

Scarf Tying 101 - What's Your Favorite Technique?

I said many times that a scarf is my favorite accessory. I just love how easy scarves are to incorporate into an outfit. Whether you want to add color, enhance a neckline, draw attention to or away from a particular area, you can’t go wrong with a scarf.

Here are three three easy tips for wearing and styling your scarf.

1. Just keep wrapping it around your neck until you can’t wrap any more. (It creates its own turtleneck effect.)

2. Tie a knot anywhere and loop the scarf over your head. (There’s no wrong way to do it.)

3. Just let it hang from your shoulders. (It looks stylish and deliberate to others even if it doesn’t to you.)

Saturday’s AM Style is all about accessories, and we’ll have a few scarves in the show. I can’t wait to twist and tie them into fabulous style statements!

Here is a look at my personal scarf drawer at home.

Saturday’s AM Style is all about accessories, and we’ll have a few scarves in the show, including a new Garden Of Roses Chiffon Scarf from Joan Rivers. I can’t wait to twist and tie them into fabulous style statements!

See you in the AM!

Weekend Recap:

Well girls, as I write this, we are snowed in again! When does it end?! I hope you are catching a break from the record cold winter we’ve been having and are dreaming of warm weather and tropical drinks. Aaron and I have to get a Dodge. We’ve been scouring the internet for some last minute deals to soak up some sun. We haven’t found anything yet but I am still on the hunt- I won’t give up! Where is your favorite warm weather spot?

#Dinnerfor2

Now I didn’t make this but I always get inspired by great dishes I have in restaurants around Philadelphia. Yes, I am the girl that is always taking pictures of her food and making collages on instagram to relive the dish at a later date.  Guilty. I thought I would share this one with you because it seems simple enough to make at home.

What you’ll need:

 Iceberg lettuce

gorgonzola dressing

granny smith apples

 fresh chives

 bacon

  ...DELISH!!

     Aaron turned 30 last week! Thank you all so much for your sweet well wishes!  Aaron has really been working hard this month, so it was very nice to get out on the town and celebrate the big day.  Cheers to his best birthday yet {#emotions_dlg.biggrin}

Please also enjoy this photo of Winston- clearly he’s a little hung-over from the weekend!

Beauty Obsession: Tarte Wanderlust Special Edition 5PC LipSurgence Collection, A237941

Tarte Wanderlust is Wunderbar. Take a look at my dramatic before and after. True Story: winter has taken the life, color, and hydration out of my lips.  If you fall into that category this time of year, or maybe you just want intense color that hydrates your lips like a treatment balm, don’t let this collection pass you by. As you can see, instant shine, and the LipSurgence appears to have filled in the lines on my poor winter-tolled lips.

Another favorite about this collection is that it’s a nice mix of shades with reds, berry, and a pastel pink.  The reason I chose this for my beauty obsession is I wanted to head into the Spring season with a pop of color on our lips without sacrificing hydration yet keeping up major shine.  Dazzle on Tartlet’s.

PM STYLE:

I can’t even begin to tell you how many new items we have in tonight’s show! We’ve got a little bling, a little dress up, Fashion on the go, and your must-have new spring shoe. Here’s a sneak peak Wink

I am so excited about my Today's Special Value® offer, "The Core of Great Skin Care" System in super sizes, because it gives you the three most critical steps in our skin care line. The three critical steps of skin care are: exfoliate, hydrate, and protect from the sun. You are getting my three most popular products: Advanced Firming Facial Pads, HydroShield Ultra Moisturizing Face Serum and SPF 30 Defense Day Cream in super sizes at a remarkably affordable price.

Dr. Denese Super- size "The Core of Great Skin Care" System
Dr. Denese Super- size "The Core of Great Skin Care" System

Why? Because I believe that we all are entitled to great skin care. We put our unique technology and ingredients in our products to give you a vast advantage when it comes to multiple signs of aging around the eyes and face.

It is especially important to take care of your skin during the winter months because cold temperatures and low humidity robs our skin of hydration. I find it difficult to look into the mirror in the height of winter…especially when I just walk in from the cold.

Hydrated skin equals soft, supple, moist-looking skin with fewer appearing superficial lines, and this is exactly what my HydroShield serum gives you. In an independent clinical study of 15 subjects, our HydroShield serum showed a 184% increase in skin hydration is only 15 minutes. Best of all, when you look in the mirror, your skin looks and feels soft and supple. Our Advanced Firming Facial Pads give you the perfect dose of exfoliation and firm the appearance of skin, while our SPF 30 Broad Spectrum Defense Day Cream gives you the peace of mind of sun protection while giving you flawless and beautiful coverage.

I have two other powerhouse products centered around the ingredient retinol. My unique and proprietary technology allows me to deliver an unusually high dose of retinol to your skin without any of the unpleasant side effects. My ever-so-popular Firmatone Rx Retinol Maximum Serum now comes in a large 2-oz size at a substantial savings. My brand new Firmatone Rx Retinol Peel with Retinol Maximum Technology is perhaps our first Retinol Peels in an overnight Cream form. Fantastic results! Please watch me on Valentine's Day.
