Tune in—to yourself

Hi tartelettes!

Here we are, in the midst of another beautiful holiday season. The air is crisp and cold here in the Northeast, our holiday shopping has begun, decorating is in full swing, and everything feels so joyful and bright.

When I think of the holidays, I can’t help but think of the hundreds of things I need to check off my "to do" list in order to prepare for this festive and super-busy time of year. The cleaning, cooking, shopping--it can definitely feel overwhelming at times! I think we sometimes get so caught up in all of the things that we have to do, that we let ourselves take a backseat.

This year, I want to encourage you to take a different approach to the holidays by taking a few moments to enjoy your own sweet indulgences--life’s simple pleasures that put you at ease and make you truly happy.

I read an interview with Meredith Vieira recently where she said something that really hit home: “Women are so nurturing. We feel we have to take care of everybody but ourselves. But the truth is, you’re no good to others unless you’re good to yourself."

Our sweet indulgences collection was inspired by just that--being good to yourself.

Make time to recharge! Whether you leisurely sip your morning cup of coffee to clear your head, take a daily stroll, or relax in a peaceful bubble bath, if you don’t care for yourself, you won’t be able to sustain anyone else. A few of my sweet indulgences include evening walks on the beach near my house with my husband and enjoying my morning cup of chai tea at my desk before the day gets crazy. These little things put me at ease just enough to be able to really take on the rest of my life with a clear mind.

This season, I want to pass on the same advice to you, so I've hand-selected all of my favorite products to create a treat to enjoy as a gift to ourselves, or our best girlfriends, moms and sisters. I want to encourage you to take those few precious moments a day to do what makes you feel good and happy. When we feel good, we look good, and a smile is the best beauty product you can use. :)

I’m so looking forward to spending a whole day with all of you on QVC and talking about our sweet indulgence collection along with the rest of our holiday treats!

XO,
Maureen

Christmas has come early: Temp-tations Today’s Special Value is here!

You know that feeling you used to get as a kid when Christmas was coming? That’s how I’ve been feeling for the past month! Every day I wake up thinking…”only this many days left until the big day on QVC.” And now temp-tations’ Today’s Special Value is finally here!

Join me today on QVC for the debut of my brand new temp-tations 18-piece Bake and Serve Set! (insert link) Not only do I feel like a kid on Christmas Day, I feel a little bit like Santa, too. I designed this set to include brand new pieces specially requested by so many temp-tations lovers over the past 11+ years. It has all the essentials you need to plan, prep, cook, serve and store picture-perfect meals  -- during the holidays and every day.

One of the most-requested pieces topping the temp-tations Wish List is an elegant serving platter. So I designed a beautiful 16-inch oval platter as a centerpiece for the whole set. And I even carried the beauty of my classic Old World and Floral Lace patterns into hand-sculpted figural handles. Just imagine presenting your favorite family recipes to a table filled with friends and family with this gorgeous piece!

For the first time ever, I’m also debuting a set of two 9-inch cake pans, designed by special request for all the busy bakers and layer cake lovers who’ve been asking for them. And, like all temp-tations, they do so much more! Use them to bake deep dish pizzas, serve up cinnamon rolls…you can even fill a pan with gourmet ingredients, wrap it in cellophane, top with a bow and it’s a beautiful, multi-purpose gift basket.

Because I know that space in the oven is often so hard to come by – especially during the holidays – I included not one, but two bakers complete with Limitless Lid-Its. So you can save time and space by stacking your bakers and Lid-Its together and baking several dishes at once.

There’s plenty more – bowls to fit every purpose, pretty and practical nested measuring cups, an elegant spatula, storage covers and a set of recipe cards featuring some of MY favorite family recipes.

And here’s something else I can’t wait to share: All of this comes in your favorite Old World and Floral Lace colors, including customer favorite seasonal patterns…plus NEW Floral Lace Eggplant! Christmas really has come early for so many temp-tations lovers. This has to be one of the most-requested temp-tations colors of all time.

Be sure to tune in throughout the day. As a special bonus, we’ll be serving up plenty of great holiday recipes from my new holiday cookbook (F11683) to showcase all the ways Today’s Special Value set will help you keep holiday cooking, baking and entertaining stress-free, scrumptious and stunning.

I teamed up with my friends at Taste of Home on this cookbook and hand-picked my favorite recipes created by home cooks, for home cooks, just for the holidays. Then each recipe was customized in the Taste of Home Test Kitchens to fit temp-tations ovenware.

Here’s a little taste of what you’ll be seeing on-air today.

CHRISTMAS MICE TRUFFLES

1 package (15 1/2 ounces) Oreo cookies

4 ounces cream cheese, softened

1 jar (16 ounces) maraschino cherries (with stems)

1/2 cup chocolate wafer crumbs

1/2 cup sliced almonds or pine nuts

Colored nonpareils or pearl dragees

1. Place cookies in a food processor; cover and process until finely crushed. Add cream cheese;

process until blended. (Keep unused mixture covered at all times with a damp cloth.)

2. Working with a few cherries at a time, shape 2 teaspoons of mixture around each cherry, tapering to resemble a mouse. Sprinkle with wafer crumbs. Add almonds for ears and nonpareils for eyes. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator. To serve, arrange on a temp-tations® Lid-It® or serving tray.

Hope you’ll tune in to find out all the ways Today’s Special Value from temp-tations (insert link) will become one of your family’s most treasured traditions!

XOXO,

Tara

Dumpy Pumpkin Cake: Toffee Bits, Pecans & Graham Crackers--Oh My!

$

Hi, everyone!

I love everything about pumpkin. I love the shape. I love the color. I love the smell. And I LOVE the taste. So many holiday recipes—like pumpkin pie—are steeped in tradition. But, I stumbled upon a dump cake recipe that’s fun and different and calls for…you know what’s coming, don’t you…pumpkin.

Dumpy Pumpkin Cake

Dumpy Pumpkin Cake

This recipe is prepared with Temp-tations® Floral Lace 18-Piece Bake and Serve Set (K41206).

Ingredients:

  • 1 (15-oz) can pumpkin puree
  • 1 (10-oz) can evaporated milk
  • 1 cup dark brown sugar
  • 3 eggs, slightly beaten
  • 2 tsp pumpkin pie spice
  • 1 box yellow cake mix
  • 1 cup coarsely chopped pecans
  • 1/2 cup broken graham crackers (not crumbs)
  • 1/2 cup toffee bits
  • 2 sticks butter, melted
  • Whipped cream (optional garnish)

Preparation:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F. Spray a 13" x 9" pan with cooking spray.
  2. Combine the pumpkin, evaporated milk, sugar, eggs, and spice. Pour the mixture into the pan. Sprinkle the dry cake mix on top, followed by the nuts, graham crackers, and toffee. Pour the melted butter evenly over all.
  3. Bake for 45–50 minutes, or until the center is set and the edges are lightly browned. Serve with a dollop of whipped cream, if desired.

I hope you’ll consider this treat for your holiday spread this year. Or, if you just can’t break away from those classics, make it for another occasion...think dinner with friends, a church potluck, office party, or just a quiet Saturday night at home.

Have a terrific night…see you soon!

XOXO,
—Jill

Birthday Blog

November has always been a special month for me. Not because it’s my birthday, just because I love Fall and the lead up to Thanksgiving and Christmas, and the autumn months always feel like “old soul” months, which I am, for sure…an old soul. If you missed my birthday snapshots on FB, thought I’d post here and share some more deets. For starters, I turned 42 on November 2nd…but on November 1st, this gorgeous arrangement showed up at my doorstep from Mom and Dad. (Mom has such impeccable taste and she likes to do ‘sending flowers’ a little different. From Olive & Cocoa … magnificent!)

Next up, we commuted into downtown Philly for an overnight complete with friends and surprises. Except behold, why does every city look like this on a Saturday night???? (The only thing that makes me more antsy and annoyed than traffic jams, are those 1-800 automated numbers where you never can get to a REAL person!) Nonetheless, wine and sushi were in my near future so I kept cool. Priorities.

Went to Morimoto Sushi. Love sushi, really good sushi, bc there is really bad sushi, and I had always wanted to try this Iron Chef restaurant…

Made friends with the Sushi chef. Total an art form what they do. You must order the Wasabi Fried Rice. Divine.

Next up, time for my gift. My husband writes the most amazing cards, he’s a really tender dude. (Shh don’t tell him I told you that)

I am so excited!!! He got me Andrea Boccelli tickets in NYC!!! We are going to spend the whole day in the City which I love, have lunch at Fred’s at Barney’s (which I love!) and pal around before seeing Bocelli who apparently does not do many live concerts. I cried when I opened the gift. Sap I am.

Next day, Sunday, we visited the Rodan Museum…

And the Philadelphia Art Museum. I just love staring at the brushstrokes in the painting.

Leaving museum, decided we needed some lunch and stumbled into most adorable, witty cozy pub, The Dandelion in Philly. My new favorite. (The burgers will rock your world)

Only thing I did not do on birthday, was eat birthday cake. Funny huh??!! No worries, with the holidays coming, there will plenty of sick indulgence. In the meantime, Joe and I can’t wait to get back to Philly for our next city excursion. The countryside brings peace and quiet that is good for the soul. The City just makes you feel young and alive. Want to be one of those people that has a house in both! Must keep working to finance large dreams. The End.

Pork with Wine Sauce

I have shared with you my basic pork chop recipe in the past.  Here is a way to change it up a bit.  You can use boneless chicken breasts instead if you prefer.

Pork with Wine Sauce

6-8 pork chops

2 handfuls of chopped spinach

2 cups chopped mushrooms

1 cup chopped onions

1 cup dry white wine

1/4 cup chicken stock

1/4 cup heavy cream

olive oil

flour

meat tenderizer

salt & pepper

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.  Season pork chops on both sides with meat tenderizer, salt & pepper, dredge in flour.  Add olive oil to skillet brown the pork chops on both sides.  (I had to do them in two batches)  Remove and place into a casserole dish.  In the same pan add a little more oil, sauté onions, mushroom and spinach.  Add wine, chicken stock & cream to the pan, scraping the bottom of the pan to deglaze, bring to a boil.  Pour the sauce over the pork chops and bake covered for 25-30 minutes.  I served mine with mashed potatoes and peas.  Tender moist & yummy!  Enjoy!

Want to Make Your Home Feel Festive? Set the Table!

One of the things that makes the house look festive is having people over and setting the table for a party. One of the best ways to make your house look festive--without people--is setting the table anyway! By making your table look like an event, the entire house looks like you're ready to entertain. You don't have to buy all new dishes, just use what you have and bring in Christmas decorations. We decided to put together a video to give you some tips on how to do it. I think if you want to make your Christmas decorating extend beyond your tree, this will be very helpful. :-)

See you at 10pm ET this Friday for A Lisa Robertson Christmas!

Our tarte TSV is a Sweet Indulgence!

A sweet indulgence.. That’s the inspiration behind this gorgeous holiday gift set from tarte. An indulgence that doesn't come with 1,000 calories, can be transformed into 1,2, or 3 perfect gifts, and makes getting ready for work and holiday parties so much easier... sign me up!

I recently took a trip to the tarte offices in New York! I know, going to New York to get your makeup done sounds like a lot of work. Haha! It was so much fun, but the goal really was to see this gift set firsthand so I can share it with you. Here is Leigh from tarte, showing me this HUGE Today's Special Value.

Here's the top four reasons I am ordering this set:

1. It's the most pieces ever offered from tart and you won't find these shades anywhere else.

2. All 12 pieces are under $60!

3. All of the shades look great on everyone, whether you are going for classic daytime chic, or glamming it up for a holiday party.

4. The entire set can be one big indulgence or can be seperated into three smaller gifts. Give some, keep some.. do whatever you want. You'll have a lot to play with.

Now, to the fun part.. How does it all look on?

Erin, the makeup artist from tarte, gave me the "recipe" for this sweet indulgence... and you don't have to be a chef to pull it off.

Getting the look is really easy. Start with your foundation. Now, here's the color, step by step.

1. Sweep Vanilla Candles all over your lid

2. Lightly buff Pinky Promise in your crease for subtle definition

3. Add additional definition in your outer crease with You Look Mauveless

4. Line your top lashline with liner of your choice. Erin used Plum for this look.

5. Use 2 coats of Lights, Camera, Lashes!

6. Pop a light dusting of Pampered blush on the apples of your cheeks

7. Finish the look using Lipsurgence Lipgloss. Erin used “Indulging” on me.

To bump up your daytime look for more of a sultry smokey eye use the following…

1. Add “Wind Down Brown” to your outer corners and lightly buff into the crease

2. Smudge “Wind Down Brown” along the lower lashline

3. Line your inner rim with our Lights, Camera, Lashes Inner Rim Liner in Black

4. Add another coat of mascara to top and bottom lashes using our Lights, Camera, Lashes mascara

5. Sweep a little more blush on your cheeks in the color “Savored”

6. Finish with our Lipsurgence Lip Crème in “Rare.”

Quacker Cookie Exchange!

We had so much fun baking cookies! Alberti and Angel came over to bake cookies for our Quacker Cookie Exchange on November 10 at 1pm!

I made Red Velvet Polka Drops! We named them for Jeanne Bice. She was the best at holidays. Plus - she loved polka dots!! This one's for you, Jeanne!

Red Velvet Polka Drops

1/2 cup unsalted butter

1 cup sugar

1 teaspoon white vinegar

1 large egg

1 teaspoon vanilla

2 teaspoons red food coloring

Dry ingredients:

1 1/2 cups flour

3 tablespoons cocoa

1 teaspoon cornstarch

3/4 teaspoon baking powder

1/4 teaspoon salt

1 12 oz. bag white chocolate chips

Preheat oven to 375.  Cream butter and sugar until fluffy.  add vinegar, then egg until combined.  Add red food coloring and vanilla.

Mix all dry ingredients together and slowly add to the mixture.  Stir in a little over 1/2 the bag of chips. Roll into balls. Bake for about 10 minutes.  After you remove the cookies from the oven, place more chips on top, pointy side down to look like white polka dots.

Enjoy!

Happy Birthday Lisa!!!

Happy birthday my friend. I don't even know where to start – you are such an amazing woman. Smart kind funny tenacious loyal & beautiful. From the moment we met, you embraced me. You were straightforward, honest, and willing to share. Qualities that many women do not often share with one another. I was able to learn from you and grow with you.

Another favorite memory is when she and I met Tracy Anderson for the first time. Nothing like doing a group work out where you think you're about to die and pride alone keeps you going. At the end of the workout Tracy told us she could help us figure out whether we were hip-centric or glute- centric. Lisa volunteered me, of course – at which point Tracy starts feeling my bottom and thighs to determine whether I was hip or glute centric. You could've dropped a pin in that room and we'd all have heard it. Lisa was struck mute and I swear her eyes bugged out of her head.  Of course, I'm standing there getting palpitated amongst my friends and completely mortified. Needless to say, No ONE volunteered to go next.  To this day we still laugh about it.

I also love that we can go to a sci-fi movie together and order popcorn with butter and NO judgement :~)

One of my fondest memories is going to the Anthony robins seminar together . I remember I remember going through the entire weekend with introspection--thinking about who we were as people and where wanted to go in life. And of course, I remember interlacing our fingers so tightly as we were approaching the fire walk that I thought every single digit would fall off. It was so cold and I was so scared that I was shivering. But we made it through! It was a once-in-a-lifetime experience I forever be grateful that I share the experience with you. You have been a welcome addition around our table for Thanksgiving, Fourth of July, and special events. Family and friends are so incredibly important; and I am proud to call you a Family friend!

Happy Fall everyone!

I just can’t believe that we’re a couple of weeks away from Thanksgiving.  Actually, I just put all of the summer furniture away!  You know the story - trying to play catch up.

I have designed this brand new luxurious faux fur throw in oversized dimensions (55” x 65”) that you will love.  This year I have included a full size faux fur signature teddy bear to match!

Brown Mink

A little pre-Christmas gift from me to so many of you who have been my faithful customers through the years - and to welcome anyone new.

I have had this throw in my own home the past few weeks and have placed it everywhere from the living room, the bedrooms, and sitting areas.  It is truly amazing in a deep luxurious sculpted pattern that reverses to a micro sheared faux mink.  It’s faux fur to faux fur, completely machine washable, and in six amazing colors and patterns.

Alabaster

This can be the ultimate Christmas gift for a couple, children, teenagers and any adult.  There is no reason you can’t split them up and give the throw as one gift and the teddy bear as another.  You’ll have this by Thanksgiving ---- what an amazing way to walk in to friends and family with a special gift like this.  Trust me, your gift will create more attention than any bottle of wine or pumpkin pie that someone else is arriving with! This is truly affordable luxury at its finest.  As many of you know, it is the same quality faux fur that we use in our coats that we bring to you in home furnishings - rich, luxurious & sumptuous!

From my photos, you can see how beautifully they look all over my house, not to mention that Lily, our Schnauzer, commandeered the navy blue mink teddy bear.  Thinking further ahead this set can take a lot of people off of your Christmas list - I know it has mine.  As every year, this has become my signature standard gift to so many different people.  Somehow, one can never have enough of these faux fur throws!  I know in our house when we sit down to watch TV or read a book, everyone goes to grab for one to cozy up with.  So, please, enjoy these new patterns and colors and the special edition signature Dennis Basso teddy bear.

I look forward to seeing you at midnight with Jane Treacy!

Happy November

Hello friends and Happy November. I love November because it is the real start of the holiday season. The holidays are always busy for everyone, but they really are a magical time of year. My favorite part of the holidays is spending time with my family, my closest friends, and all of the people that are important to me.

In the rush of our busy, day-to-day lives, it’s easy to forget about slowing down and being present in the moment. Thankfully, the upcoming season is the perfect opportunity for this. I’m really looking forward to seeing all of my grandchildren. They are so incredible and continue to amaze me every single day.

Another group of very special people are all of you. I am so grateful that we have such a dedicated community of spectacular people. I really love to hear about all of the creative ways that you wear your pieces and how you make them unique in your own way. Recently, I had the chance to attend a special luncheon and reconnect with and meet so many of you.

We’re introducing some exquisite pieces just in time for the holidays that your loved ones will adore. I love incorporating thoughtful details into my jewelry. I designed my new ceramic watch so that the colors on the enamel face would coordinate with the ceramic running through the band. The ceramic treatment going through the band reminds me of a sugarloaf stone – very modern and sleek. The style of this piece is very fresh and new – we’ve never done a ceramic watch like this before. I hope you’ll like it as much as I do.

Gemstones are my passion and one of my favorite stones is Blue Topaz. To pay homage to this remarkable stone, I designed this ring, earring and bypass bracelet using magnificent, frosted Blue Topaz from Brazil. Accentuate your look with one piece or wear the entire dazzling set.

We have shows coming up this month and it is a perfect opportunity to get your holiday shopping done early. I invite you to join me on November 7 from 1-3am and 5-7pm and on November 8 from 4-6am and 4-6pm. Hope to see you soon.

XO,

Judith

Happy Birthday Lisa!

When I first met Lisa it was a mix of emotions.  I was excited, scared, happy, nervous (I was sweating bullets), and ohhhh so apparently SHY! It was one of the few times in my life I couldn’t speak a peep! Then she smiled…and suddenly…I could be me again.  We chatted, we laughed, and then we said our good nights.  Lisa has a way about her.  In an instant, she took away my fears and made me feel like I could fly!

That was a few years ago when I was a brand new guest at the Q.  I didn’t get to see Lisa in person again until over a year later when I moved to PA for my new job as a host.  We had been texting over the holidays, and she invited me over to her place for a pancake breakfast on Sunday Morning (I arrived the day before).  It was January 5th (MY birthday), and I was going to start it off with pancakes at Lisa’s. WOW!  There was nothing that could top that!  So on that morning I skipped to my car (actually I slipped to my car…there was ice ALLLLL over…but it didn’t matter…it was still the best day ever), and drove over to Lisa’s house.  She had a couple of friends over.  We ate, we laughed - we became instant “besties.”  The pancakes were DELICIOUS, and when we were done, we all helped to clean up together – which reminded me of being home with my family. For my birthday, Lisa had given me so much – comfort, friends, family and a feeling that I could now look at this place and call it “home” – I felt like I just won the Lotto.

Dear Lisa,

In the past year we have gotten to do so much together.  We work together, we workout together, we shop and eat together.

Working out..

Working out...sort of...

And eat together..

And eat together.... lol

Even on a roller coaster while screaming for my mommy, I wouldn’t have wanted to be anywhere else!

We have truly been enjoying life!  And I feel like Life has been enjoying us too!  We definitely make the world a more colorful place (and I’d like to say stylish).  You have given me so much since that first birthday present…

My birthday wish for you is that you fly as high as your wings want to go…that you strike the Lotto of your dreams every day…and that the world smiles back at you the way you have always smiled upon it – with love, adoration, and magic.  God bless you, and I love you my dear friend.  Happy Birthday! May it be the best one yet!!

Love, Love, Love,

Alberti

The New Normal – Life As An Empty Nester

$

Well the last few weeks have been a new chapter in my life and Nikki's college life...I have been sending weekly care packages filled with food, warm socks, decorations and anything else I could think of to remind her of home...I am officially on a first name basis with my new friends at the post office and putting my Q boxes to good use...

I have already abandoned my promise to clean out the clutter in every room...I was thankfully rescued by my wonderful dance mom friends who invited me to continue to help with the fall fundraiser and the Snow Queen ballet again this year.

I spent the month working on crafts and enjoying the projects and the kids...this should keep me busy until Nikki comes home for winter break!

Nikki on the other hand has discovered a whole new world...she has commented on occasion that it sure is hard to be an adult!  I am very grateful that she has fully immersed herself in all kinds of activities with dance, volunteering and leadership groups and the television station and magazine for freshman..

She has spent hours cleaning a park, helped at the zoo and gone zip lining...yes I had to breathe deeply about zip lining….all the while having bronchitis and sinusitis which was her second trip to health services...I resisted driving to the college and bringing her home, so I sent soup, honey and tea and lots of tissues instead.

All the while I am diving into work and waiting for the phone to ring...thank goodness for parent's weekend!  How wonderful to see your kid so excited about the possibilities in her future.

Her friends are a really great group of friends which I now can thankfully put a face to each name when we talk about her day..the campus has lots of school spirit and even more steps to walk back to her dorm.

She now has enough food, a holiday tree, and enough warm clothes until I see her for Thanksgiving break.

I have many blessings in my life and I am grateful for everyone...Thanks for sharing my new normal as an empty nester...keep me posted on how your life is going too...

Tortellini Soup Under Pressure {Cooker} Recipe

Recently, we got a new pressure cooker and I'm having a lot of fun trying recipes. One of my favorites so far comes from Bob Warden. My kids LOVE it.

You'll need:

2 tbsp olive oil

1 onion, chopped small

2 stalks celery, cut into 1/4 inch slices

2 carrots, sliced into 1/4 discs

1 tbsp minced garlic

8 ounces package cheese tortellini (I used frozen, which I'll explain below)

4 c. vegetable broth

1 jar spagetti sauce

1 can diced tomatoes (I used a 14oz can.)

1 1/2 tsp Italian seasoning

1 tsp sugar

1/4 ts pepper

Parmesan cheese for garnish

Step 1:

Chop your veggies.

Step 2:

Add the oil to the pressure cooker and heat on high or "brown" with the lid off. Sauté onions, celery, carrots and garlic until the onions begin to sweat. Add the remaining ingredients and stir. Lock the lid and cook on high for 5 mins. Since I used frozen tortellinis, not dried, I left my pasta out so it would not overcook.

 Step 3:

Preform a quick release to release the cooker's pressure. Safely remove lid and check tortellini for doneness if using dry. Since I used frozen, I turned my pressure cooker on high and added the tortellini, simmering the soup (with the lid off) for a few more minutes until they were cooked through. Top with Parmesan cheese.

Step 4:

Fall in New York City :)

Fall leaves in NY

Going through a seasonal change in a big city is such a different experience, especially in my adopted home of New York City. I just love strolling through all the city parks seeing the falling leaves, people swapping ice cream for cider and hot cocoa, sandals for boots and all the interesting layered looks. Fall really transforms New York City, giving it a cozy intimate feel for such a big, busy place. Weekends are great for picking out fresh local produce at the family oriented farmers markets. If you get the chance, visit the city during this time, it’s the perfect in between season to really explore and comfortably see the sights!

Bringing Fall Scents Indoors

As much as we all might lament the end of summer, fall does have its own wonderful aspects – cool breezes, bright red, yellow and burnt orange leaves, and the crisp smell in the air…in fact,  the more I think about it, I might just like the fall as much as I do the summer.  The aromas of autumn just make me want to get cozy in front of a fire, cook, bake and surround myself with friends and family.  I savor this time of year and the magnificent scents that I enjoy outdoors; I like to also bring into my home.

A large bowl of apples brings color, flavor and scents that pretty much sum up the season.  Apples remind me of the apple tree I grew up with in my backyard.  I am an expert of everything apple - pies, tarts, breads, applesauce, cider, cakes…

The earthy aromas of cinnamon and nutmeg have always reminded me of my Grandmother baking at Thanksgiving.

Another scent I associate with this time of year is orange and it’s no wonder that this is one of the most popular of aromatherapy scents found in candles, lotions and soaps.

Here are a few simple ways I enjoy these earthy aromas in my home:

-Simmer orange peels and cinnamon in water on your stovetop.  Your home will be filled with a soothing autumnal fragrance.

-Create your own Pomander Balls with fresh oranges and cloves.  Place them in a bowl to enjoy for months.

-Take an essential oil (apple, orange, lemon, or cinnamon) and place a few drops in your shower.   Begin your day with an aromatherapy treatment!

It’s Autumn inside and out!

- Barbara
