Towel Cake Recipe

I was so honored to be invited to Linda Davies' daughter’s bridal shower this past weekend.  Meghan will be marrying her high school sweetheart, Matt, in May.

As a gift, I created this fun towel cake.  I have been making towel cakes as my signature gift for years.  Every new couple needs towels and this is a fun and creative way to present them!

I asked Linda what the color theme is for Meghan's wedding and used that as the accent color. Linda's daughter’s Meghan & Sarah are identical twins.  After all these years I still can't tell them apart.  Top left is Megan in pink (the bride to be) with Sarah, on right is Linda and her sister Karen, and bottom picture is Linda's friends "The Fun Seekers".. lol  {#emotions_dlg.biggrin}

Towel Cake Recipe:

  • 2 bath towels, 4 hand towels & 4 wash clothes. (this may vary depending on the size and thickness of the towels you use)
  • Fold the 1 bath towels and 2 hand towels to your desired width then roll them tight to create the base.  Secure the rolled towels with string or a large rubber band.
  • Make sure your rolled towel edges are even so the tower is straight.
  • Roll 1 bath towel to make your second tier.
  • Roll the 4 wash clothes and 2 hand towels for the top tier.
  • To add stability to the tower insert a pencil or dowel in the center of the middle tier top and bottom.  Secure each roll with lapel pins.
  • Wrap decorative ribbon around each roll to cover the string or rubber band.
  • Add silk flowers, beaded garland and bows to finish the cake.
