Where have my manners gone?

Hello everyone,

This is my fourth blog and all I’ve done is talk about JAI John Hardy Jewelry and myself so I would like to ask each of you a question:  What inspires you?  I know this is personal, but I’ll tell you my inspiration if you tell me yours.  Ha ha…

If you are like me, I imagine you have many inspirations.  When I look at the time I have spent on this earth and reflect on all of my ‘life moments,’ I am overwhelmed by how many forms of inspiration have touched me and made me who I am today.  With each day that passes, I am grateful for my experiences and the opportunity to learn.

I have had a passion for art and nature from a very young age.  I was raised the fourth of five children in a very traditional household where my Mom was able to stay home with us (I don’t know how she survived) while my Dad went to work.  My Mom is an interior designer by trade who loves all things unique, while my father, a chemical engineer, believes every question has an exact answer.  What a combination they are!  Close to 50 years later, my father has yet to win an argument, my mother’s creativity always triumphing over his logic. That being said, their little quarrels have taught me that it’s better to listen to my intuition and imagination, so it makes sense that today I work with JAI John Hardy Jewelry, which is inspired by the artisan’s vision and creates beautiful, wearable works of art.

In retrospect, my family was my original inspiration.  I was raised in a home full of love, creativity, colorful personalities, and storytellers.  My ever-expanding family continues to inspire me today.  It was my upbringing that brought me here to QVC and JAI John Hardy.  My love for design, people, jewelry, and travel continues to fuel my passion for life.

Working with JAI incorporates many of the things that inspire me.  Traveling throughout the Far East and experiencing new cultures allows me to get an inside look into the lives of the local artisans.  I get to study the local heritage and learn first-hand from the makers themselves.  I then bring back all of this inspiration and passion to share with our John Hardy trained artisans.  Together, we work to bring these beautiful stories to life.  JAI John Hardy pieces are the treasures that have been exclusively created for each of you.

I believe inspiration is a gift; inspiration is everywhere; choose to be inspired and then inspire others.  Please enjoy a couple of snapshots of the people and places that have inspired me while curating our new collections at JAI John Hardy.

So, I told you my inspirations, what are yours?

Safe Travels,

Scott Grimes

“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do.  So throw off the bowlines.  Sail away from the safe harbor.  Catch the trade winds in your sails.  Explore.  Dream. Discover.” – Mark Twain
