Our spring sandals are amazing so it got me thinking, what comes first, the outfit or the shoe?? Do you put the clothes together around the shoe or find a shoe to go with your clothing?? I turned to my friend of 20 years Ed the amazing stylist, and here's what he had to say:
"I have been working with Jane for many years now. During this time I have not only gotten to know what kind of shoes she likes, but also to know her fashion style as well.
A while ago when I was working on another show I came across this great skirt that I knew Jane would love. Ever since then I have been waiting for an opportunity to use this skirt as part of one of her outfits for her shows.
A couple of weeks ago while chatting before a "Shoe Shopping with Jane" show, she said to me: "Why don't you create an outfit inspired by one of our shoes and I will wear it for one of my blogs?" I said: "Sure!" Little did she know I already had an outfit in mind but it was not inspired by a shoe, it was inspired by the skirt that I have been waiting to use so patiently.
As I started putting the pieces together of the outfit, I wanted to create a look that was not only fashion forward but also an outfit that represented another side of Jane that we might not get to see as often on-air.
As a fashion stylist my responsibility is not only to make my clients look good but also to make them FEEL good about how they look. Last week when I showed Jane the outfit I put together for her, she said to me: "When can I wear it?" And I said: "when we take the pictures for the blog." To which she replied: "No, I want to wear it on a show!" That's when I knew that I did my job! I hope you like it too" -- Ed
