With Memorial Day right around the corner, the grill is definitely on my mind. I think the number one food for the grill has to be the burger. But how do we take a burger from average to amazing?
First, we skip the hamburger, and go right the steakburger. Kansas City Steak Company makes the tastiest burgers in the biz and because they are made from steak trimmings, they are more juicy and flavorful than you can imagine. So, by themselves, they are delicious, but if you really want to kick it up a notch, add a condiment. Now I don't mean ketchup or mustard, but aioli. Please don't let that scare you, because an aioli is simply a garlic mayonnaise.
My show, The Wishful Dish, is about bringing everyone back to the table, so the recipe has to be quick and easy (and yummy!). And when you order something frozen from my show on Monday, it will get there by Friday. So, here is my Friday Night Meal! It may sound fancy, but this is as easy as it gets, and its packed with flavor.
Here is the basic recipe:
Garlic Aioli
2 cloves of garlic (or three if you are daring!)
1 cup of mayonnaise
1/2 tablespoon lemon juice
1/4 teaspoon salt
After you remove the skin from the garlic, mince the cloves finely. Then, you can crush the garlic by using the flat side of the knife and scrape the minced garlic while pressing at the same time. This creates a paste-like texture that releases the garlic essence into the mayonnaise. After this, mix the rest of the ingredients together, cover, and let the flavors blossom in the fridge for about a half hour. Grill the burgers to your liking, and spread it on top! That's it!
Quick tip: Fresh garlic is best, but if you are short on time, grab a jar of crushed garlic. It's okay to substitute to get the job done!
Now, that's just the beginning! If you want to get creative, just take the basic recipe and use it as a springboard for other awesome flavors. You can add ketchup, sweet relish, horseradish (one of my personal faves!), paprika, or anything you want!
Also, the buyers have been able to get a great value on a new Cheryl's
cookie assortment that expires at the end of the day tomorrow, but you
can look at it now by clicking here.
So, I'm looking forward to having you join me tomorrow at 5pm for the
Wishful Dish! Don't forget to bring your appetite!
