Back From Vacation & Time to Pucker Up!

0
0

Now that I'm back from vacation - it's time to PUCKER UP with my Lip Pick of the week!  It's from IT Cosmetics - and I always have at least one of them in my handbag and make-up bag!  LIP VITALITY 4 In 1 LIP FLUSH TRIO!!!

The trio replaces 4 must have lip items!  Your Lipstick, Anti-Aging Lip Balm, Hydrating Lip Gloss and Lip Stain to retain color!  They are paraban free and PROUDLY MADE IN THE USA  and Cruelty Free!

From the top is: Je Ne Sais Quoi - a sheer pink that gives your lips that youthful look!  In the middle is: Love Story - a rich, just bitten pink and the last one is: Pretty Woman - a stunning sheer berry!

When you look at the photos and see what's in the tubes - they transform into the stunning colors you see!  Because Je Ne Sais Quoi is almost clear looking - while Pretty Woman looks very dark.  Give them a try and I think you'll find out why I always keep them with me!

You can get the trio by clicking here.

If you'd like to just try one of them - you can pick them up individually by clicking here. I'd say that Je Ne Sais Quoi is my "Go-To" color for everyday use! But I love having the richer color choices for more impact!

Now if you love what you see and want more from IT Cosmetics check out their QVC Shop here.

Let me know how you like them!!!

Until next week...

Best wishes and blessings,

Jacque G.

Hello Mommies!

It’s very nice to meet you! Let me start off by telling you a little bit about me. I have been with QVC for 6 years, I started out launching the new logo and the iQdoU campaign in 2007. Remember that???  Then, I was asked to start social media for QVC and let’s just say it’s hard to have a bad day when you love your job.  On a personal note, I’m married to a producer who also works here at the Q (yes- we met here, yes- it’s allowed, yes- it happens quite a bit ;) and we were blessed with two wonderful children.  We have a 2 year old son (who never stops talking)  and a precious 7 month girl (who couldn’t be any sweeter.)   I got engaged, moved, married and had two kids within the last 3 ½ years, so life has been a bit of a whirlwind!  Hence the whole reason behind this blog!  Consider me the working mom who is trying to juggle it all, be the best mom I can be, rediscover myself AND put healthy meals on the table.   Whew! I don’t know about you, but this is really hard to master and I feel like if we share ideas and give each other a little cheer every now and again- we all can have a little less stress in our lives.

So, I’m going to get started by sharing what I’ve called “Veggie Fest.” It dawned on me that it’s already July and before we know it summer veggies are going to disappear.  So get ready to fill up your baskets! If you don’t like veggies, I’m going to turn you into a believer and before you know it, you will have cravings!  {#emotions_dlg.biggrin}  I’m going to kick off this week with my new all-time favorite:

Roasted Truffle Cauliflower  (I cannot rave enough about these!)

5-6 cups of cauliflower florets cut about 1 inch in diameter

½ cup of extra virgin olive oil

1 tbsp of garlic

2 tbsp of lemon juice

1 tsp of salt

½ tsp of black pepper

2 tbsp of parmesan cheese

2 tbsp of truffle butter

Preheat the oven to 500 degrees F.

Place the cauliflower florets in a large saute pan or a roasting pan. Drizzle the olive oil over the cauliflower, and season with the garlic, lemon juice, truffle butter and salt and pepper. Place the saute/roasting pan in the oven and cook for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally to ensure even roasting. Remove from the oven and sprinkle with the Parmesan cheese. Serve immediately while still warm. And repeat, because you are going to want more!

Enjoy!  And please feel free to share healthy recipes.

Fashion Now & Later in PM Style Tonight + a Weekend Recap

Happy Monday PM Stylers! I am going to kick off my blog with some MAJOR news.  Your wish has finally been granted.  From now on, we will be back on QVC’s Facebook page for our weekly chats during the show! WooHoo!  Facebook was able to change how the chat loads, so now; we can all chat and keep up with each other’s comments better… just like the old days.  Score one for the fashionable ladiesJ.

This week on PMS, we’re having an event called “Fashion Now and Later” which means no Beauty Segment, but I am happy to report that we have a good mix of clothes that’s perfect for these hot summer days and nights and great finds that you can wear into fall when the weather is still warm as well.  I’ve picked out some key pieces that I think you might be a big fan of coming up in the show tonight, so take a look…

LOGO Cardi- Love that this really isn’t your traditional cardi. You will love the cut and you really can wear this one like your favorite T.

Denim and Company Tunic with Cutout Detail- I think there’s something really sexy when a woman shows her arms. However- I totally get that may not be your favorite feature.  With this top, it’s the best of both worlds… show a little skin but totally covered.  Pair it with a great accessory like a scarf or statement necklace and you’re good to go.

Earthies Leather Sandal- Talk about a shoe that will go with every outfit… In the black choice, This gorgeous Leather is wrapped in Navy, Mocha, and black leather to really give you the versatility to pair with any outfit.

Weekend Recap:

I can’t thank you all enough for writing in and sending your thoughts and prayers to Todd and his family.  It was a rough weekend for me as I said goodbye to one of the greatest guys I’ve ever known, but I felt so uplifted from all of the great pictures and stories everyone told about our dear friend.  Todd and I were neighbors growing up and when I turned 16 we became very close.  He had a great love for good music, the outdoors, and art. One of my friends posted these pictures of Todd and I and I got the biggest kick out of them.  We got into more brotherly sisterly tiffs and I thought these were funny because we were so caught up in the moment.  He was and is the best, and I will miss and love him for the rest of my life.

I hope you all have a wonderful week and I can’t wait to talk to you on FACEBOOK tonight!

XO,CC

Gem Day – Dreams Within Reach

0
0

What do you dream of? What would make those dreams come true for you? For gem lovers, those dreams may be to own a rare gemstone created by nature and kept hidden, for thousands of years (or millions in some cases) deep beneath the surface of the earth or the sea. For jewelry and accessory lovers, those dreams may be finding the perfect piece to go with a variety of outfits and to express their signature sense of style. For others, it may be to be able to give someone special a beautiful memento to commemorate a meaningful milestone or an important time of life. If any of these dreams sound like yours, you’re in for major treats on QVC’s Gem Day(read all the way to the end of this article for a special surprise).

The king of gemstones, diamonds, will of course play a prominent role on Gem Day. Diamonds are not only rare, but they are an incredibly hard mineral (10 on the Mohs scale) giving them amazing durability and have a very high refractive index (2.4) giving them astonishing sparkle. For gem lovers, what could be better than owning one of the earth’s most prized and coveted gems? What about owning quite a few of them? J282806 will be a brand new piece for the day featuring a plethora of diamonds cut in round, princess and baguette shapes and mounted into a 14K gold setting. You’ll be getting 1/2 ct total weight of this very precious gem.

For my fashionista friends seeking the perfect accessory, we’ll show you the most versatile of items and a “work-horse” of every chic woman’s wardrobe. A diamond hoop earring! Not just any diamond hoop, J282865 is another new style for the day featuring “inside out” styling (meaning the front-facing part of the back of the hoop is also covered in diamonds) for maximum sparkle. If you like a dramatic statement, this one has a total diamond weight of 1 full carat set into 14K gold.

Is there an important milestone that you’d like to mark or share with somebody special, maybe an important birthday or anniversary? Do it in style! A halo style ring says, “you are the center of my universe”. Another new item for the day, J283570, features halo styling in a square shape containing ½ ct total weight of round and baguette diamonds set into 14K gold.  Is it more of a cute and cuddly milestone like a new puppy or kitten in the house? J279635, set into sterling silver is the cutest diamond set Paw Print Pendant that comes complete with an 18" chain.

No matter what your diamond dreams, we’ll have the perfect answer. Now, what about making them come true for you? Here’s the best part for those of you who took my advice and read through the article. Not only are you going to see a full spectrum of diamond and colored gemstone jewelry on Gem Day, but QVC has decided that (I left the best for last and you’re hearing this here first…) everything on Gem Day will be offered on EZ pay!!! How’s that for dreams within reach?

Exotic Gemstones

0

Pink Tourmaline from California, Tashmarine from the high mountains of central Asia and Smithsonite from the Kelly Mine in New Mexico.  These are just a few of the exotic gems to be found during the upcoming Destination Gemstone Celebration.  Please join me during the 8:00am show with Leah and the ll:00am show with Mary Beth on July 18th for an amazing collection of extreme exotic gemstones.

Exotic gemstones are defined as limited and rare in the marketplace.  The finest blue zircon (J282582) I have ever seen with its intense brilliance and color saturation starts the first hour.  The show continues with gorgeous Rubellite in a cross (J277204) and a ring (J279104) with an amazing 3.2 carat oval Rubellite center stone surrounded by 2.15 carats of pink Tourmaline.  The 1.00 carat Ceylon Sapphire Ring with 1/2 carat of Diamonds is spectacular.  The fine Ceylon Sapphire has that true royal blue hue which you would expect to find in a fine Sapphire from Sri Lanka.

The Morganite TSV ring was one of the most challenging items I have ever worked on.  There are very few natural gemstones that exist in nature that are pink. Morganite, a member of the beryl family, has a beautiful soft pink hue and is becoming very difficult to source in large sizes with the quality and color saturation that QVC demands.  Please compare our fine quality to Morganite that you might see other places; it is very different material.  I especially love Morganite in rose gold; it makes an elegant blend of femininity and sparkle.

When Allison and I were at the Tucson Show in February, we went to say hello to a good friend of mine from Brazil.  (Years ago we graduated from GIA together.)  He said he wanted to show us an extremely limited, special quality of Kunzite he had been saving for years.  Allison and I were blown away.  It was the finest color and quality Kunzite we had ever seen.  We immediately bought all of it (not much) and asked one of our major factories to design a special ring and earring from this limited material.  I can’t wait for you to see it! (J282787).  Please compare it to the color of Kunzite that you find other places.  I hope you will be as amazed as I am.

The 11:00am show, not to be outdone, starts out with a Siberian Mint Emerald Ring (J281808).  Known for their excellent color and crystal clarity, Russian Emeralds are very limited in supply and only a handful of gem dealers are able to procure the loose stones.

In my 35 years in the gem and jewelry business I have never seen, outside of a museum, a genuine Alexandrite Cat’s-Eye.  A miraculous phenomenon in the gemstone world, it not only has a marked color change but also the Chatoyancy of a Cat’s- Eye.  A true gemstone Cat’s-Eye (J282104) when turned will appear to blink.

This blog is getting too long but I have to mention, also in the 11:00am show is the pink Tourmaline from California (J283471).  A real rarity, the color is gorgeous and the Stewart Mine, close to San Diego, is surrounded by the Pala Indian Reservation.  Also look for the Smithsonite from the Kelly mine in New Mexico, closed since 1931, and the Tashmarine with rich pure green color.  Please tune in for the stories on each of these fabulous gemstones.

I will be on air with Jane for the three hour finale answering any questions you might have about gemstones, jewelry, or anything else you might wish to know about.

Take care, Peyton

Leggings Saved The Day!

0

True story -- once when I was shopping on line, I found a really cute printed dress. It came in my size, so I ordered it. I waited for about a week for the dress and when it finally arrived, I was excited. That is, until I pulled it out of the box. I didn’t even need to try it on to know that it was going to be waaaaaay too short on me. Micro-mini was NOT the look I was going for.

I was just about to pack up the dress to return it when it hit me -- leggings. Leggings could turn this disaster of a dress into a bona fide outfit.

So, I put the dress on and then slipped into a pair of leggings. And what do you know, that inappropriately short dress instantly became a very appropriate tunic, and it looked great! Thanks to the leggings!

The moral of this story is -- “Yes, you can wear leggings!” They might even save the day. Well, maybe not the day, but a cute dress that’s too short to wear on its own.

I’ll be with Renee Greenstein at midnight for our first ever Women With Control Leggings Today’s Special Value. I hope you’ll join us. I’ll be the one in the printed tunic that used to be a waaaaaay too short dress. :-)

My top 5 ways to wear leggings:

1. With Tunic Tops

2. With Ballet Flats and Oversized T-shirts

3. With Chunky Sweaters and Riding Boots

4. With Button Down Big Shirts

5. With Long Chiffon Vests

Just click on the following link in blue if you would like to see and learn more about the collection: Women With Control

See you tonight!

It’s Ice Cream Social Time!

Hi Foodies,

I LOVE ice cream, so when I heard that it was National Ice Cream Month and that David Venable is doing a month long celebration of Frozen Treats, I knew I had to do something to celebrate too!

My daughter’s birthday is this month and she really wanted to go to one of those make-your-own-frozen-yogurt-sundae-shops for her birthday party. Do you have one of those shops near you? My family goes crazy at our local shop. They allow you to take as much frozen yogurt as you want, with as many toppings you want, and then you weigh your bowl and you pay based on the weight of your bowl. Well, needless to say, we have a difficult time controlling ourselves and the costs to go to these great places are a bit too much for our budget. Unfortunately, all I saw was dollar signs when I thought about having a birthday party there. So, we compromised – we would have an Ice Cream Social at our house!

First, we had to make sure we had a few flavors of ice cream. I kept the ice cream flavors basic since the toppings could make the taste interesting if there are too many flavors playing together. We chose Vanilla, Chocolate and Strawberry. I didn’t have any lactose-intolerant guests, but I would recommend a Sorbet or Yonanas to serve if you are unsure of guests with allergies or intolerances.

Next, we needed the base (or what to serve the ice cream in). I made sure we had bowls, waffle bowls, sugar cones, and regular cones. I also had large chocolate chip cookies in case anyone wanted to make an ice cream sandwich. Don’t forget spoons and plenty of napkins too. We also had birthday cake so it wasn’t all ice cream.

Emily's Birthday Cake

(Here’s Emily with her birthday cake. Thanks, grandmom, for making the cake!)

And finally, the best part, the toppings! We had:
•    Rainbow sprinkles/chocolate jimmies
•    Chocolate syrup
•    Caramel syrup
•    Strawberries
•    Blueberries
•    Bananas
•    Oreo cookies
•    Nuts
•    Gummy bears
•    Mini M&Ms
•    Peanut butter cups
•    Whipped cream
•    Maraschino cherries

The Ice Cream Social was a hit! Here’s my son who went a little nuts – he made a “castle” of ice cream!)

What do you think? Have you ever held an Ice Cream Social? Did I forget any of your favorite toppings?

Our Trip to Drybar in New York City!

0
0

Let’s face it - it’s a staple in New York City; you could even call it routine. When you want fabulous hair, have a little extra time to spare and an occasion big or small, a blowout is a no brainer. It’s a particular need for me because:

I don’t own a blow dryer (although my husband does :) ).

I don’t know how to use a blow dryer.

There, I said it. I feel much better already! I never knew how to use a blow dryer correctly, hence it never made sense for me to own one. Luckily, all of that changed. Drybar is a NYC institution, so I figured I’d learn from the masters. I brought my friend, makeup artist Jessica Liebeskind and my colleague Lindsey along (we run the gamut in hair colors and textures) to Drybar for a lesson on how their products and tools make tresses so tantalizing…

For any hair type, the beginning steps are the same:

Hair must be clean, so wash thoroughly. If it takes two shampoos, so be it! If volume is your aim, apply conditioner to your ends but not your roots. You don’t want to weigh your hair down.

I have long, semi thick, dark hair that tends toward loose waves and a touch of unruliness. To give me the controlled, cascading waves of the Cosmo-Tai (yes, they have a styling menu. Love.), my stylist did the following:

After combing and detangling, she applied their Hot Toddy Restorative Cream  mid-shaft to my ends add another layer of protection and acted as a leave-in conditioner. Surprise perk? It helps define the waves once they’re styled.

Next, she sectioned my hair using their signature clips (find them in Drybar’s Blowout In-a-Box!) and began working from the front. She was careful to work with small sections of hair, letting me know that a good way to gauge an appropriate amount is to match the size of your sectioned hair to the size of your brush.

While drying, my stylist pointed the nozzle of the dryer upward (who would’ve thought?) to prevent burning. Creating tension between my scalp and the brush, she dried sections straight around the crown, creating loose waves by performing a twisting motion when releasing the brush from my hair.

Check out the finished product...

Jess’s hair is similarly dark, but naturally very curly. This means moisture is key when blowing her hair smooth. Luckily, Drybar’s Cream Soda Smoothing Cream does the trick! Jess opted for the Straight Up, a style she can wear everyday:

Jess’s blowout procedure was very similar to mine. In fact, the steps were identical except for a little extra conditioning love to tame her frizz. The main lesson learned here was this: more heat, more sleek! Watching her stylist work, it was clear that she took care to “go over” each section more thoroughly and more frequently.

That being said, Jess’s finished look was anything but flat. Applying Southern Bell Volumizing Mousse prior to styling maintained lift in her roots and helped build body, allowing slight curl at her ends to stay bouncy.

Lindsey is blonde (and curly!) as can be, so color processing and her natural texture mean her ends tend toward the dry side. Hot Toddy Restorative Cream sealed them before her blowout began, helping to prevent further damage and mask any signs of breakage. Southern Bell Volumizing Mousse set the stage for lift and body.

Lindsey decided on Drybar’s Mai Tai style, which boasts beachy waves and body. To get hair smooth but create curl, her stylist pulsed the round brush forward and back, alternating the bristles closer and further from her scalp. This motion smoothes tresses at the root but creates loose spirals beginning mid-shaft. She used the twist-and-release motion I mentioned above to set the curls.

I know, it sounds complex. Take it from me – it’s not! Here’s the takeaway:

Clean hair is hair you can work with.

Tension is a must – a powerful pulling motion gets roots smooth.

Do the twist! Twisting your brush to release it from your tresses will create natural looking waves.

Product never hurts. Begin with volumizing mousse and protective cream, and finish with a smoothing serum.

* Some extra tips:

If you’re like me, you’re interrupted by distractions often. As soon as I’m out of the shower, my little tike needs my attention or an email needs a rapid response. To prevent hair from air drying past the point of no return, section hair and twist it. The spirals will lock in moisture, so you can put your blowout on hold.

Prevent greasiness from the get-go, and apply dry shampoo to your roots post blowout. You worked hard, so make it last!

Wear a sweatband when you work out after your blowout. You’ll relegate frizz to the front, so you’ll only have to touch up, not totally restyle.

Check out our Drybar board on Pinterest with steps and behind the scenes photos!

I can’t wait to take these tips for an at-home test drive, and I want to know – how did they work for you?

Behind the scenes with Amy Oselkin from Clarks Footwear

Hey there shoe lovers!  Lauren here, ready to share some behind-the-scenes prep work for one of our guests here at the Q!   This week I ran into my favorite Clarks guest Amy Oselkin before one of her Clarks Footwear shows.   There is a lot of preparation that goes into a presentation and Amy let me capture her behind-the-scenes routine as she prepared for a day on the air! Take a look:

Insert Picture

After the glitz and glam, Amy met with show host Carolyn Gracie to review all the items in their Clarks show.

Insert picture

Next step in Amy’s routine is homework!  What?!  Amy likes to view previous presentations of the shoes she’s about to sell from past shows as a quick refresher of some of her favorite features.  As she says, “You can never be too prepared!”

Insert picture

Now it’s time to get up close and personal in the QVC green room!  A quick lipstick application and outfit change, and Amy’s looking fabulous for her approaching debut!

Dressed for success, Amy then heads backstage to the QVC model dressing room to preview the shoes for her show.  She always tries on every shoe she’s selling (even in multiple sizes!) before the show so she can speak to each style perfectly!

10 minutes until we’re on the air - time to get mic’d up!

In her final preparation minutes, Amy sits down to relax and collect her thoughts on her favorite ledge right around the corner from the set.

Prep routine complete – it’s show time!

Thanks to her thorough preparation, Amy’s show is a success!  Time to unwind with her good friend Leilani Learn from Ryka for some post-show fun:

Amy’s hard work for the day does not stop when the cameras do, so before she leaves for the day she meets with host Jacque Gonzales about some exciting new items coming in from Clarks.

At last it’s time for Amy to wrap up her day here at QVC and head back to her home in Manhattan.   Thanks for tagging along and be sure to tune in to the next Clarks show to see Amy in action!

What A Summer! Engagement, Trips, College Visits & More!

Meghan and Matt the day after engagement. They are so excited it is contagious. High school sweethearts... she knew she wanted to marry him forever. My heart is full!

Hello my fellow LCNY fashionistas... welcome to summer!  Last week; rainy, hot, and cloudy. This week, hot and sunny. I will take the sun no matter how I get it. A little update on the Davies household in case you have missed it. Trust me, ever changing and always active. As you know, Sarah got married on June 21st, and now is back from the honeymoon and calling me for recipes. Meghan and Matt got engaged on June 29th and we have started the wonderful  madness of planning wedding number two... oh my! Larry leaves for Brazil for four weeks to work in the Amazon (doing what, I have no idea) but he is excited. Yes I am nervous! Kevin will be visiting a college at the end of the week, 5 hours away... where did the time go?

So if your summer is as crazy busy as mine, I have a wonderful suggestion. How about taking sometime with two good friends on Wednesday morning, grab a cup of joe, sit back, relax, and have some much needed girl time. You ask, "what is girl time?" It is an hour you get to treat yourself, slow down the pace, and focus on yourself. This week we have an awesome skirt, to die for really. Paisley print, color rich, perfect to get you through the rest of the summer and roll in to fall. We are both so excited to have it in the show. We have been trying to decide who gets to wear it. Find out on Wednesday who won. Looking forward to seeing you... keep cool!

Linda :)

Think You Can’t Wear Leggings? Think Again!

Throughout my years as a designer and fit model, I’ve had the pleasure of meeting the most beautiful and stunning women. One thing that many of them had in common, no matter their size or shape, is that they had sworn off leggings. I’ve met women of all sizes who have refused to wear them; from fashion models to plus-sized women to petite ladies. This is why I often say that we all have a little something-something that we’d like to see smoothed out and under Control.

I designed this Today’s Special Value for Wednesday, July 17th, for those who thought that they could never wear leggings. Made in my 86% cotton/14% spandex Women with Control® fabric, this legging contours and smoothes you as you wear it. This fabric is breathable and isn’t see-through. Essentially, my legging is the legging that you’ve been dreaming of; one that isn’t shiny, isn’t see-through, and doesn’t sag after wearing them all day. Of course, I didn’t stop there. I’ve added my Tummy Control panel which features the Blu-Tec Control System™, a fabric system made in the perfect blend of nylon and spandex.

I also wanted my legging to be the legging that you can wear any time, for nearly any occasion. This is why I gave it a few design details for a more tailored look. The center seam on the front of the leg gives the legging a finished look while elongating your legs. I’ve also cut this legging in a modern way; it is a fit that is perfect for all shapes and sizes.

I always say, ‘Style Is Not About Size, It’s About Attitude™’. But with this TSV, it’s also about Control.

Watch this video for my tips on how to style your leggings:

We had so much fun making this video for you! Here are some behind-the-scenes photos from the shoot:

Tune in throughout the day today for my latest Women with Control® TSV, my Women with Control Tummy Control Leggings with Seam Detail. It is available in three lengths: Regular, Petite, and Tall. For a complete look, check out my newest Attitudes by Renée ¾ Sleeve Printed V-neck Tunic.

Where will you be wearing these leggings? How will you style them? Let me know in the comments section. I love hearing from you!

Albany's Mexican Chicken Tenders & Kids in the Kitchen

0
0

Over the weekend, my kids and I made easy Mexican Chicken Tenders (perfect thing for them to help with).

Here is the recipe:

Chicken tenders marinated in greek yogurt, salsa, and Goya seasoning (i usually marinate overnight in my Lock and Lock Marinating container)

Place on greased cookie sheet or in greased 9x13 (I used my Temp-tations)

In a quart size resealable bag, place left over corn chips (the stuff at the bottom of the bag that you would normally throw away), shredded Mexican Cheese Blend, a little more Goya seasoning. Seal the bag and let the kids crush the mixture together.

Evenly spread mixture over the chicken.

Bake at 400 degrees for 20-25 minutes.

Serve with a side of salsa for dipping.

Hello, everybody!

We know you love hearing from our Irish guests, so look for a new blog from us on the 17th of every month! You will hear from many of your favorite people from the Emerald Isle!

Here's what they've been up to...

Sinead, Solvar Jewellery

Can anyone guess where I was with my girlfriends?

I would like you all to meet 3 of my best and oldest friends: Helena, Dara, and Clodagh. A few weeks ago, we all went out for a night out in Dublin City and had a ball! The evening ended up in the Shelbourne Hotel, a fabulous hotel full of character and an excellent place for people-watching! (And, if I am being honest, one of my most favourite pastimes!)

Anyway, as girls do, we got talking to lots of people and met a group of golfers from the west coast of America who raved about their amazing few days in Kerry and how fantastic everyone was to them! I got so caught up in their enthusiasm that I swore I was going to arrange a girls weekend away!! A few weeks later and here we are!! And, man, what a FANTASTIC trip it was!!

The first day we went down to the petrol station and rented 4 bikes, €7 each (what a deal!). Colin, our new best friend, told us to take the cycle path through the Killarney National Park and stop off in Denis Cottage for lunch. The bike ride was just breathtaking – the flowers, scenery and just seeing the jaunting cars go by us with the driver tipping his hat as a sign of acknowledgment. When Colin saw us coming up the road, 7 hours later, he felt a “Mr. Whippy” (ice cream on a cone) was in order!! That evening was spent in an Irish pup listening to traditional music and, of course, we had to have an Irish coffee to relieve our aching limbs!!

The next day was the Gap of Dunloe. Oh boy! It was a bit of a long walk, and it felt even longer as a result of a very late night! The flip-flops Helena was wearing were not the best choice of footwear, however, we did the best we could, and, after 3 hours of walking, we decided to relax with a coffee taking in the incredible views at the Europe Hotel!!

We stayed 3 nights in all, and I have to say it was probably one of the best girls’ trips we have ever done as a group of friends!! The crack was mighty, the Kerry people were fabulous, and the scenery was out of this world! What else would you want? And to spend it with your best friends, that’s what it’s all about!! I wonder where we should go next year. Have you any suggestions of your favourite places to visit in Ireland?

Now I’m at work looking at my photos thinking up all kinds of interesting designs for jewellery! In the meantime, why don’t you check out our Solvar Jewellery Collection!

Have fun and plan your trip with your best buddies!!!

See you all in September!

Sinead

Eve, JMH Jewellery

JMH Jewellery is celebrating 40 years in business this year, and we are using it as a great excuse to have some parties! I am delighted to share some pictures from our recent family party. All of the Harbournes, including our youngest baby ones, are featured! We had a gorgeous Beef Wellington dinner made by Betty, and she even used our Belleek “Everyday” baker to serve some of our roasted vegetables! Yum!

For our 40th year in business, we are also celebrating with lots of new designs and ideas. Were you able to see some of our new designs we debuted back in March for St. Patrick’s Day?

Eve

Update: We are very excited to share with you that Eve gave birth to a beautiful baby girl, Jeanne Elizabeth, at 12:05 AM on Sunday, July 14th! She weighed 8lbs, 10oz. Mother and baby are doing very well! Her husband and family are overjoyed!

Barbara, Fragrances of Ireland

Here in Ireland we are experiencing something quite unusual - continuous sunshine! We headed out west to Mayo, my husband's family home, and enjoyed 16 hours of continuous sunshine with barely a cloud in the sky over the weekend. Some of the world's best waves are to be found just a stone's throw for Brian's auntie's home, and the surfers are taking full advantage! Can you spot my friend's brother at the end of the wave?

These are the days that inspired Inis Or: Golden moments full of passion and exuberance that leave a warm glow in your heart.

I have not been quite as adventurous but have been happily spending as much time outdoors as possible! We have been busily BBQ'ing and my Belleek “Everyday” Basketweave Baker has been put to good use – we have found it perfect for keeping food covered and warm while the sausages get their turn on the grill!

One of our favorite foods to enjoy in the summer is our family’s homemade potato salad. Below is the recipe for Granny Beckett’s potato salad - this is the most incredible pink colour and may seem a little strange - but it tastes great!!

These weights are a guide as this is a recipe that has been in my husband’s family for as long as they can all remember!

Ingredients:

1.5kg of potatoes

250g of beetroot

1 red onion (or less if you are not a big fan!)

3-5 tablespoons of mayonnaise

Instructions:

Boil up the potatoes preferably peeled unless you have got lovely new potatoes!

Crush them but ensure there is some bite left in them

Add finely chopped red onion and mayonnaise and mix well

Add chopped beetroot

Season to your taste with salt and pepper

July is always a wonderful time here at Fragrances of Ireland, as it marks the beginning of lavender harvest. Every weekend from now till July 28th, we host a farmer's market in the courtyard of our offices. It's great fun meeting people from all over the country who pop in to explore our wares! We have fresh lavender tied up in bunches, Granny Cox's Lavender Furniture Polish, lavender plants, herbs, and our soaps, creams and lotions. Should you be in Ireland over the next few weeks, be sure to stop by and say hello!

Barbara

Stephen, Connemara Marble

We are enjoying a wonderful heat wave here in the Emerald Isle, so we will be eating outdoors in our garden!

I cooked some fresh spuds for the potato salad that we will have with our dinner tonight, and what better way to serve them than in the Belleek “Everyday” baker! It is just perfect for both casual and formal use!

What is your favorite dish to prepare in the summertime?

Stephen

StriVectin is ready to make history once again!

Ladies, I am beyond excited for the launch of our brand new Advanced Retinol Day to Night 2-piece system! No matter what your aging concern is, you will want to check out this multi-tasking duo that helps give you gorgeous skin.

StriVectin Advanced Retinol Day to Night 2pc System

StriVectin Advanced Retinol Day to Night 2pc System

Many of you told us that you wanted to try a retinol because it is one of the most recommended skin care ingredients for aging skin. Our scientists and formulators went to work to create the perfect cocktail of retinol, our exclusive NIA-114 technology, and other potent ingredients that help to reduce the appearance of the signs of aging.

Well, today we are launching the brand new Advanced Retinol Day Treatment with SPF 30. In just 4 weeks of use during a consumer perception study, this treatment helped improve the major signs of aging including the look of lines, wrinkles, imperfections, uneven texture and tone, lost firmness, youthfulness, and smoothness. You're welcome ;). And because StriVectin knows that we may be sensitive to the sun, we added SPF 30 to the formula.

Let us help rescue your skin from the multiple signs of aging!

Youthfully yours,
Meg

What to Pack: Hospital Essentials for Every Mom to Be!

Sarah

When I had my son three years ago, I really wanted to have a relaxing hospital experience. My husband and I prepped by bringing all the things that reminded me of home. Here's what I decided to put on my packing list for the hospital this time around (besides the baby essentials, of course!). Do you have any other suggestions?

What to Pack

1. THE WRAP-UP

A must-have for all new moms! The WRAP-UP is a soft sponge with a flexible base that can secure a bun without using any bobby pins. It's perfect for labor, new-mommy pics, and even after the hospital!

2. FLAMELESS CANDLES AND IPOD ® “LABOR” MIX

Keep calm and carry on. You never know what to expect, so having great music and soft lighting will make you feel relaxed and more at home.

3.  STAY STYLISH

Just because the hospital gives you that GOWN doesn’t mean you have to wear it. Bring an outfit or robe that makes you feel comfortable, cute, and photo ready! Also, pack some of your favorite makeup. When I don’t have a lot of time, I love to throw on a bright-colored lip.

4. DEEP CONDITIONER & POWER PADDLE BRUSH
The hospital isn't a four-star hotel, so pack your shower essentials. The first hot shower after giving birth is extremely relaxing and refreshing, so make it a spa-like experience. Pack a deep conditioner and the POWER PADDLE BRUSHto give you smooth locks and a much-needed recharge.

5. CAMERA
Don’t forget to capture all of your new moments. It's such an exciting time and babies grow fast. I can’t believe my son is already three years old. Now that I have a new one on the way, I can’t wait!

Let me know what you've packed or if you have any more ideas!
XO,

Sarah Potempa
