Sleeping Beauty Turquoise and More New Designs!

American West Jewelry is back in a big way!  It’s been so long since we saw you last on QVC, and we’ve been hard at work making this event extra special. Tune in to QVC on Monday, March 24th from 1 - 3 pm ET and on Thursday, March 27th from 5 - 7 am ET and again from 7 - 9 pm ET to see our newest collection of bold American styles.

Now that it’s officially the Spring season, we want to celebrate color and the return of sunny days and blue skies.  For us that means Sleeping Beauty turquoise!  Among the finest quality turquoise in the world, Sleeping Beauty turquoise is known for its amazing hue that is just as vibrant as the skies of the American West.  And being mined in our neighboring state, Arizona, makes this gemstone even more special.

In our incredible Fourth of July celebration last year, nearly every Sleeping Beauty turquoise style sold out because of your passion and appreciation for this rare gem.  We’ve spent the months since then gathering more of these hard-to-come-by gemstones and creating more of your favorite styles, like this Sleeping Beauty Turquoise Najah Enhancer (J283081) that might just be one of the most iconic looks that we’ve ever created.  Wow!

And we’re bringing new designs from some special artists that you know!  Last year, Native American jeweler Kenneth Johnson was commissioned to create a necklace for the Muscogee Nation chief to wear to the Presidential Inauguration.  His necklace celebrated leadership and community and was an amazing representation of his craft!  This photo shows Kenneth at work on the unique piece.  Tune in to see the necklace inspired by his one-of-kind design.

We’re also debuting new designs from Fritz Casuse, one of which is an amazing hummingbird ring inspired by a piece that took home a First Place ribbon at last year’s prestigious Heard Museum Indian Fair & Market.  It is an unbelievable work of artistry!  Here’s a look at the award-winning ring that inspired his new design.

You’ll also see a new pottery-inspired design from award-winning Pueblo Potter Jody Naranjo and more colorful, nature-inspired styles from Veronica Benally. Year after year we are so honored to work with Native American designers who are leaders and innovators in the art world.

We can’t wait to share our newest visions with you!  Join us next Monday, March 24th from 1 - 3 pm ET and again on Thursday, March 27th from 5 - 7 am ET and again from 7 - 9 pm ET.  It will be the celebration of artistry and bold style that you’ve been waiting for!

A Hair Makeover Straight Out of Your Fridge

Yup, it’s March and that means spring should have sprung but instead I’m still wearing my winter jacket. I’m also still suffering from winter hair—dry, damaged, and breaking. So, when it’s time to turn things around for my mane, I head to…the refrigerator. When my locks need a lift, eggs, beer, lemon and handful of other goodies in my refrigerator shelves do wonders.

You know I love me a little oil massaged into my scalp and left in overnight as I describe here, but I’ve got some fresh new ideas for your hair care woes.

 eggs!

Pick Me Up

For all hair types, eggs do wonders. The yolk has plenty of protein and fats that will smooth your strands. Essentially, eggs go to the extra mile for your hair. J

Here’s the breakdown:

Use a whole egg to condition your hair

Yolks only to moisturize wintered, dry locks

Leave on for 15-25 minutes depending on how long you can stand smelling like eggs J rinse with cool water and bask in the shine and luster. Once a month should do the trick.

Best Breakfast

I love yogurt and berries for breakfast with granola. My hair loves yogurt too, just hold the berries and granola. Massage a ½ cup of yogurt (any type you have handy – I usually use low fat plain) into clean damp hair and leave for about 20 minutes. Rinse with warm water and then shampoo as you usually do.

 beer!

Need a Lift?

Beer is not just for ball games. Because of the yeast in this fermented drink, your hair will get lots of plumping up. Just make sure it’s flat! Pour a glass and let it sit for a while, then add a tablespoon of olive oil, plus a raw egg (again!) Put it on clean, damp hair then rinse with cool water after 15 minutes.

 avocado!

Tame the Frizz

It’s no wonder that silky smooth avocado can help reduce frizz caused by crazy weather (think super hot heaters and scary cold winds.) If you can resist eating it, mash it up and massage it into your hair. You can also add raw egg yolks to amp up the moisture. Let it sit for 15 minutes and then say hello to your sleeker mane.

What kind of home remedies are you whipping up for hair? Share some tips with me, too!

Towel Cake Recipe

I was so honored to be invited to Linda Davies' daughter’s bridal shower this past weekend.  Meghan will be marrying her high school sweetheart, Matt, in May.

As a gift, I created this fun towel cake.  I have been making towel cakes as my signature gift for years.  Every new couple needs towels and this is a fun and creative way to present them!

I asked Linda what the color theme is for Meghan's wedding and used that as the accent color. Linda's daughter’s Meghan & Sarah are identical twins.  After all these years I still can't tell them apart.  Top left is Megan in pink (the bride to be) with Sarah, on right is Linda and her sister Karen, and bottom picture is Linda's friends "The Fun Seekers".. lol  {#emotions_dlg.biggrin}

Towel Cake Recipe:

  • 2 bath towels, 4 hand towels & 4 wash clothes. (this may vary depending on the size and thickness of the towels you use)
  • Fold the 1 bath towels and 2 hand towels to your desired width then roll them tight to create the base.  Secure the rolled towels with string or a large rubber band.
  • Make sure your rolled towel edges are even so the tower is straight.
  • Roll 1 bath towel to make your second tier.
  • Roll the 4 wash clothes and 2 hand towels for the top tier.
  • To add stability to the tower insert a pencil or dowel in the center of the middle tier top and bottom.  Secure each roll with lapel pins.
  • Wrap decorative ribbon around each roll to cover the string or rubber band.
  • Add silk flowers, beaded garland and bows to finish the cake.

Let's Go: Traveling Opens Up My Heart and Mind

$

Let’s Go!!!

I’ve recently started something called “Let’s Go! Monday” on my Facebook page. Each week I post a picture of a place I would like to visit, with a few little facts about the location. Daydreaming about places I want to visit is just one of the ways I stoke my passion for adventure. Throw out a suggestion for pretty much anything, and I’ll pack my bags.  I love to travel, not necessarily the process of flying itself…lol, but the destinations. Scanning through my photos recently, I realized I’ve done quite a bit traveling over the past couple of years at QVC.

I love the water, so this is a collage of (from top to bottom) The Bahamas, Cancun, and The Dominican Republic.

I’ve visited friends on Martha’s Vineyard...

Returned to my “heart city” of Chicago….

Revisited my stomping grounds in my hometown of Minneapolis…

Celebrated my brother’s 50TH birthday in the snowy California Mountains.

And cruised the Caribbean with my best friend Timi.

Traveling opens up my heart and mind… to the bigness of the world, but also to our “we’re all connected-ness.” I love seeing new places, and meeting people who live there, so I can get the real “skinny” on what it’s likeJ

So how about you. Are you a traveler/adventurer/collector of new experiences? Is there a place I absolutely positively must visit? If so, why? I would love to hear your stories and suggestions….

"Muppets Most Wanted" My love for The Muppets now passes to my daughter!

Some of my happiest childhood memories include The Muppets.  From age 6-11 I never missed "The Muppet Show".  120 episodes!  (Yes, I own them all on DVD!)  I loved how Kermit always wanted everyone to get along.  He wanted people to be happy.  I remember getting a small Kermit to sit on my bed when I was little.  He was always special to me.  But then there's the stunning Miss. Piggy!  Always the fashionista!   Fozzie, Gonzo, Animal, Statler & Waldorf, Sweetums, Beaker, Dr. Brunson Honeydew, Swedish Chef, Sam The Eagle, Rowlf, Scooter, the Inchworms, Janice & all of Electric Mayhem....ok, ok I'll stop or I'll name them all!  Yes, I'm a MUPPET FANATIC!

One of my favorite memories from "The Muppet Show" - when Mummenschanz would perform! Remember them?  They had clay masks - and they'd change their expressions by molding their faces or giant tubes that would bend into random shapes!  LOVED them!!!

When "The Muppets" returned in 2011 - my inner child screamed out loud!!!  It turns out that I'm not the only Muppet fanatic in my house!  My husband claims that he's the "Ultimate Muppet Fan"!  Oh....the challenge was on!  :)  So we introduced Theresa to The Muppets at that time - and had a great time reliving our childhood!  Theresa loves Kermit, Miss. Piggy, Fozzie, Animal, Miss. Piggy's dog Foo-Foo, Gonzo and Gonzo's Bulls!!!

What are your favorite memories of "The Muppets"???

Now...they're BACK with a "sequel" (You'll understand why I put that in quotes when you see the movie!) - "MUPPETS MOST WANTED"!!!

It was a very special trip to the movies for our family - and we LOVED every minute of it!!!   This is the 12th "Muppet" Movie!  Wow time flies when you're having fun!!!

Without giving away too much - you know from the previews that Kermit is replaced - without the knowledge of the rest of The Muppets - by the criminal mastermind Constantine!  Constantine bears an uncanny resemblance to Kermit --- it's really tricky to tell them apart when Constantine covers the mole on his face!  No wonder The Muppets were fooled (except ONE of The Muppets knew it wasn't Kermit!!!)

Ricky Gervais was brilliant and funny as "Dominic Badguy" - who is a "BAD GUY!"  One of my ALL TIME FAVORITES - Tina Fey was AMAZING!  I watch EVERY movie she makes!!!  (Did you know her brother works with us at QVC???  I bug him all the time about what she's up to!)  Then Ty Burrell was hysterical as an Interpol Detective!  I love how versatile he is as a comedic actor!  The guest appearances keep coming through the movie!  Danny Trejo, Celine Dion with Miss Piggy is fantastic, Salma Hayak, Ray Liotta and MORE!

You will have an amazing time at "Muppets Most Wanted"!!!  Of course, most parents and movie fanatics know that there are a few extras as the credits roll - so stay for those!  And when the credits are finished - there's one last thing that will make all of the moms laugh - after we just sat through all of the credits! :)

We really need more movies like "Muppets Most Wanted"!  After watching with my husband and Theresa - we had fun taking pictures!!!  With all the excitement - I never thought to ask my husband to step in to take the picture with us!!!  I felt so bad afterward!  Since we want to go see the movie again - we'll take a "Family" picture (as I ask some stranger to take our photo with my phone!)!

When I asked Theresa what she loved most about the movie - the first thing she said is "It's so nice that they care about all of their friends!"  She also mentioned that she liked that they say "sorry" when they should.  She said that's what real friends do - say they're sorry if they're wrong or not nice. I told her she was right and that I was glad she noticed that too.  She then immediately asked me where could we buy a stuffed version of Miss. Piggy's Foo-Foo!  She's good!  ;)

As far as a "sequel" goes - BRAVO!!!!!!!!  I'm so thrilled to see The Muppets continuing to create new generations of fans (which allows me no guilt when I buy Muppet items for myself --- I mean for my daughter!)!   Now if only they'd come out with a sequel to "Emmet Otter's Jug Band Christmas" from 1977!  Who remembers that movie?  One of my favorites!

Jim Henson - we're forever grateful for the happiness that you've brought to millions.  Your spirit and legacy continues.  I know that we will continue to enjoy The Muppets - no matter how old we get.

To have worked with The Muppets at QVC was both an honor and a privilege - and most of all - a childhood dream come true.  I can't stop smiling. :)

Girls Night Out, Love is in the Air + Rejuvenating Your Skin

Weekend Recap:

Hello PM Stylers- how are you!? I hope you enjoyed the gorgeous weekend as much as I did.  In fact, when my fiancé is away… it’s time to go out and play!  Over the weekend I had an oh-so-much-fun GIRLS NIGHT OUT with my dear friend Claire.  We went to dinner in Philly, went to a friend’s surprise party and danced the night away.  It was so fun to get out and be with friends- it was much needed {#emotions_dlg.biggrin}.

My Buddy got his first car seat!   A lot of you had said on Facebook you had debated on getting one for your little furbaby and I say don’t wait- they are awesome.  So easy to attach to your car seat and Winston loved riding with the windows down.   Safety first; but he does look really cute.

So exciting- A and are flying out on Friday morning to go to his best friend’s wedding in North Carolina.  I think the weather is supposed to be really nice down there so I’ve got to start thinking about a springtime dress to wear.  These two are lucky to have found each other and we are so happy to be able to hang with them on their special day…. Cheers to Nick and Lindsay!!

Beauty Obsession: Ole Henriksen Truth Serum A232302

Can you handle the truth about you skin?  Sometimes I can’t and that’s why I have a Beauty Obsession {#emotions_dlg.biggrin}.  As the weather gets warmer and it’s time to start embracing the glow that only spring and summer can give us, however, there’s just one question that comes to mind: how do I get that glow?!  Gone are the days where you want to sunbathe all day long (Just say no!) and now we are loading up on the self-tanners and illuminating body lotions.  So what do you do about your face?  We can’t put the same self tanner on our face for risk of tinting our pores and we can’t use the same lotion on our face that we use on our body.   Lucky for you, I’ve done some investigating on how you can have it all. TRUTH Serum!

Ole has created something that upon first use will give you an instant glow.  It’s formulated with 5 different types of Vitamin C- so get ready- this one’s a big deal.  If you feel like you lost your glow and for some time now, this is how you get your glow back.  For me I feel like I spend a lot of time exfoliating to get rid of the bad stuff… but I don’t want my skin to look bare.  Truth serum is something you will use morning and night after you cleanse that will give you the appearance of brightened and more even-toned skin.  It’s even good for addressing fine lines and wrinkles.

     The main reason I love this serum is that during the warmer months of the year, I find myself wanting wear less and less makeup which means I’ve got to get my skin back into shape.  If you can keep a secret I will give you a to-die-for combination that will have you radiating upon first use!!  After you have cleansed… take one of Dr. Gross’ Alpha Beta Glow Pads with Anti-Aging self-tanners, A62775.  These pads give you the look of sun-kissed skin with firming and hydrating properties.   Apply to your face and let dry.  Apply Ole’s Truth serum next and watch how the serum starts to radiate your complexion.  Finish off with your favorite SPF moisturizer… and you’ve got that natural, fresh, glowing skin that looks like you had to go somewhere to get it.    So Shhhhhh… let’s just keep this between you and me {#emotions_dlg.biggrin}

PM STYLE

Joe Zee is making his debut on PM Style!  How exciting is that?  I still have to giggle over calling him JZ at the Red Carpet event- but I call everyone by their initials, so technically it was true, haha.  I decided on wearing his pencil skirt (A237903) because let’s face it- it’s hard to find one that fits just the right way! Here’s a sneak peak at one of his jackets, A237911 AND Susan Graver will be were with the hooded top you will live in for summer, A221327.   Going to be a great show {#emotions_dlg.biggrin}.

See you on the Runway!!

Kiwi Cilantro Margaritas! Who's Ready for a Frozen Drink?

Hello, foodies…

I don’t know what the weather was like in your area on Saturday, but here in the Philadelphia area, we actually hit 63°F. It was BEAUTIFUL! The sun was shining, I saw a few robins out and about hurriedly building their spring nests, and everyone was outside walking, biking, and most importantly, THAWING! Yesterday was a little cooler and we’ve got a few chilly days coming later this week. But, I saw spring, foodies. It really is here. And, I feel rejuvenated.

Because it was such a nice day, I actually ventured outside to my patio and fired up my barbecue grill. We had burgers, a crisp, green salad, and some chocolate peanut butter pie. And, I thought it might be nice to celebrate the warm weather with Wednesday’s recipe, my Kiwi Cilantro Margaritas.

Kiwi Cilantro Margarita

Kiwi Cilantro Margarita
Yields 6 cups

Ingredients:

  • 6 kiwis, peeled and quartered
  • 1 cup white cranberry juice
  • 4 cups ice
  • 1/4 cup loosely packed fresh cilantro, stems removed
  • 3/4 cup tequila
  • 2 Tbsp triple sec
  • 1/4 cup sugar

Directions:

  1. Place the kiwis and the white cranberry juice in a blender. Blend on low speed for 15–20 minutes, making sure not to dissolve the seeds. Strain the mixture through a fine mesh colander and discard the seeds. Place the strained mixture back into the blender and add the ice, cilantro, tequila, triple sec, and sugar and blend until smooth. Serve immediately.

This recipe is prepared using the Ninja Pulse 40 oz Blender and Food Processor with Accessories (K39995).

Go to David's Recipe Item Page for the full list of items that David has used in his recipes.

Foodies, this is such a tasty margarita—and of course, it’s VERY green to fit our March "It's Not Easy Eating Green" theme on In the Kitchen with David. The kiwifruit flavor is mild—not overwhelmingly sweet. And the cilantro gives this drink a bright, refreshing flavor that’s unexpected, but awesome. I just love this margarita, foodies—promise me you’ll try it!

So speaking of the green salad I had on Saturday, how many of you hate how some salads seem to get soggy as soon as you add a little dressing? Why does that happen? How can you prevent it? Why don’t we ask our friends at America’s Test Kitchen.

That vinaigrette Bridgett was making is the Cook’s Illustrated Foolproof Vinaigrette. Thank you, ATK, for your deliciously educated insight!

Let’s go back to our margarita for today’s blog question. What’s your favorite frozen beverage? Do you love daiquiris? Milkshakes? Margaritas? Whatever you choose, it’s time to get your blender out of storage! Find yours and join me Wednesday for In the Kitchen with David at 8pm ET.

Keep it flavorful!
—David

Hi girls!

Today is a really special day for me at QVC - not only do I have an amazing TSV for you, but I'm bringing you my first ever pant TSV! I can't think of a better item to introduce you to Spring! These pants are done in my amazing 24/7 stretch fit, which I know you love. They're hemmed at a mid-calf length (in both petite AND regular sizes!) and come in the most incredible colors. If you have these pants in any of the neutrals, I hope you'll try a colorful pair for Spring and Summer. The Bright Jade and Perfect Pink are seriously GORGEOUS!

The fit of these pants is MAJOR. They have just enough stretch and have this incredible recovery that allows you to wear them all day long. They give the look of a woven pant with a faux fly front and back pockets, but have the feel and fit of a knit. GENUIS! They are incredibly versatile and I must say, essential to your Spring wardrobe. Pair them with one of my floral cardigans or a beautiful tunic, add a wedge or flat sandal and you're instantly CHIC darlings!

I hope you'll tune in to see me all day on QVC, and be sure to chat live with my dear girl Jacqui Stafford on the Community Blog during my 4-6pm show!

Bling for Spring!

While traveling in Europe I noticed most of the styles were heavily embellished. Bright colors were everywhere encrusted in multi-colored gemstones.

Even shoes are embellished!

That was my "ah-ha" moment... Let's design a collection of embellished Liquid Knit to up-date the collection and make it new and fresh for spring.

We immediately designed and sampled some great looks.  My buyer Debbie loved the pieces that were created and decided to develop it as a special item coming up this Thursday!

The styles she chose are classic, contemporary and easy to wear. Together they make a dynamite outfit for any occasion and yet each piece can be worn separately to update pieces already in your wardrobe.

It's a win win and I think you are going to love this one! Add a bit of bling for spring!

xoxo,
Susan

Winter is finally over and I'm sooo ready for spring.

We have so many talented beauty innovators at QVC, that I decided to ask some of them for their best Spring Beauty Tip! The first lady I went to is Laura Geller. I love her glosses and lipstick, so I was thrilled when her tip involved bright lips.

Her quote & pictures:

“One of the most important things you can do to make your face look fresh, bright, and youthful is sport a bright creamy dewy lip gloss or lip stick {like my Love Me Dews}. Even if you wear nothing else and throw on a big pair of dark sunglasses, a lip that is fresh and bright says power. So don’t ever go without putting on something great, fabulous, and bright because it’s the perfect anti-ager!”

Organizing the Garage & All Those Scary Outdoor Storage Spaces!

$

0

Hi, everyone!

When you think of spring cleaning, does the garage come to mind? Or maybe your backyard shed? I tend to forget about my garage until it’s impossible to find anything, the piles start tumbling, and there really isn’t an inch of space to fit that one last basketball. Then, I have to organize—and more importantly, weed out the stuff. Out of all the storage places at my house, I think the garage is one of the toughest things to tidy, considering how many things we really do need—not to mention it’s typically a “man space.” Over the years, however, I’ve learned a few tricks on how to get the garage in order. Are you ready?

  • Donate, donate, donate. I read an article once that specifically spoke to garage and shed cleanup. If you haven’t used something in at least five years, donate it. Yes, you may start skiing again in a few years, but will you want to use the skis you bought in the late 80s? Probably not. Yes, the kids may play with that sandbox next summer, but how often did they really use it? Would another child enjoy it more? Once you have a pile of donate items, compile those objects in a specific area of the garage if you can’t get donate them today. In fact, why not create a permanent “donate area” in your garage. That way, you’ll be more likely to remove items from the house, your closet, and kids rooms instead of leaving them put for another day.

  • You know all those balls the kids have laying around? If the framework of your garage is exposed, you can stretch three or four bungee cords along the beams and create a “net” which houses the balls, but still allows the kids to access them easily. You can also do the same thing with a metal utility shelf, hooking the cords in the holes on shelf frame. Store smaller balls—like baseballs, golf balls, tennis balls, and more—in some of those sturdy metal basins or baskets. They’ll look great lined up on a shelf—so rustic and stylish!

  • If your garage or shed doesn’t have windows or seems dark, paint it white or another light color. Even if there’s no drywall, you can paint the studs and whatever you’ve got behind them make your storage area feel clean, bright, and happy. You could also paint storage shelves and furniture in bright colors to make things look finished. If it makes sense for your family, give everyone a shelf (or shelves). You can even color coordinate those shelves so everyone knows where to put their toys, sporting equipment, etc.

  • Finally, if you’re a gardener, I saw a great idea on Pinterest. Take an old dresser drawer and paint it with chalkboard paint. Then, label what’s inside right on the front. You could have seeds in one drawer, flower pots in another, and gloves and gardening tools in a third. Watering cans and odds and ends can be stored on top. And, if you happen to have too many flower pots, don’t forget about my DIY wind chime or picnic pots!

I’ll see you again soon—we’re very busy here planning a brand-new season for You’re Home with Jill here at QVC. I'm so excited about our ideas! Stay tuned.

Mini Breakfast Quiche

$

Lauren & I were trying to find quick and easy breakfast ideas.  We both start the day very early and we need something with protein that we can heat up in the microwave.  She found this recipe on Pinterest.  We tweaked it a little.  You can make them the day before and put them in the freezer.  Pop them in the microwave in the morning for a few minutes.  Yummy!

Mini Breakfast Quiche Recipe:

What you'll need:

Cooking spray

1 tablespoon olive oil

1/4 cup diced onion

1 cup baby spinach leaves, coarsely chopped

4 slices of chopped Canadian bacon (optional or substitute with cooked bacon, ham or sausage)

2 ounces shredded part-skim mozzarella cheese (about 1/2 cup)

1/4 cup 2% reduced-fat milk

1/2 teaspoon kosher salt

1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

4 large eggs

Directions:

  • Preheat oven to 350°.
  • Coat 6 muffin cups with cooking spray.  Heat a medium nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Add oil; swirl to coat. Add onion; sauté 3 minutes or until almost tender. Add Canadian bacon & spinach; sauté 2 minutes or just until spinach begins to wilt, stirring constantly. Transfer spinach mixture to a small bowl; cool 3 minutes. Stir in cheese.
  • Combine milk and remaining ingredients, stirring with a whisk until blended. Stir in cheese mixture. Divide mixture evenly among prepared muffin cups. Bake at 350° for 20 minutes or until puffed and set. (Quiches will deflate slightly as they cool.) Serve warm.

There is no "Lisa Robertson Show" this week, (cue the tears). Instead, I'll see you with two hours of beauty, to wrap up our 24 hour beauty event. Ironically, "The Lisa Robertson Show" is where we have had the pleasure of introducing you to some of the newest names and concepts in beauty, so I thought this week we would bring all the beauty videos together from the show. It's always nice to catch up on anything you might have missed. See you Friday at 10p :)

So you know which one you want.

Random beauty musings are commonplace in this office. But we decided to put our own expertise to the test when the whole team tried out a set of philosophy fragrances. Below, more musings, feelings, likes and dislikes from our office of discerning ladies.

Alexa, our designer who makes each page of our magazine look pretty, tested out amazing grace.

amazing grace

Initial thoughts: “It reminds me of walking into a beautiful home décor store, one that has an immediate, pretty scent. It smells clean and linen-like a fresh bedroom. Maybe it has gardenia in it, I normally gravitate towards gardenia scents for sure. Gardenias are my favorite smell because when I was little we had a gardenia plant when we lived in Hawaii.”

When to wear it: “I think this is an everyday wear, definitely perfect in the summertime going out to brunch or a tea. Since it’s airy and light, I’d wear it somewhere you might be outside.”

Lasting power: “It seems to wear off pretty quickly. It’s a light scent to begin with so maybe that’s why?”

If this scent had a color, it would be: “Light blue, like a clear sky.”

Who will love it: “A woman that likes good quality and is worldly, big on textures and in tune with her senses.  Basically, an easy-going, whimsical lady would like this scent.”

Naina, who seamlessly brings together all the merchandise and concepts for Q In, tried living grace.

Initial thoughts: “It’s an ideal daytime fragrance—very fresh, very crisp, very light. It has a hint of floral, but it’s more of an outdoorsy smell.”

When to wear it: “If I were going out with girlfriends I would wear this… So clean and nice!”

Lasting power: “A lot of perfumes don’t stay on me, this one lasted a few hours, but that’s just me.”

If this scent was a destination, it would be: “An open countryside in New Zealand with rolling green hills near the sea.”

Who will love it: “It’s not a complicated fragrance, it’s for people who like a specific smell, and will be happy with it every day… Very girl-next-door, someone straightforward.”

Claudia takes all our beautiful pictures appearing in Q In, and she tried baby grace.

Initial thoughts:  “It’s nice, not too strong, powdery scented. It’s so clean, it smells like soap—but in a good way!”

When to wear it: “I would wear it every day. It’s a low key scent so you could pretty much wear it anywhere.”

Lasting power: “I don’t like strong fragrances that are too flowery or too musky or too sweet smelling, this one is maybe a little sweet smelling, but not too strong. Light and fresh! It lasts but becomes subdued over time.”

If this scent had a color, it would be: “The light blue of the packaging is well matched because that’s the perfect color to describe what I’m smelling.”

Who will love it: “A casual woman would like this scent. It’s nice for an office setting so you smell fresh and clean but it’s not overpowering, smells kind of like spring. It’s not bold, it’s maybe a little young.”

Alix, our resident health and home expert who is also our marketing whiz, tested  loveswept.

loveswept

Initial thoughts: “Fruity in a very light way, a happy, nice way. I’m pretty loyal to other perfumes which are also fruit-based and really distinct, but this one is very straight-up fruity and light. I wouldn’t get addicted to this but I would definitely wear it.”

When to wear it: “On a spring day shopping on Saturday afternoon, running errands. I’d wear it at night during spring and summer because it has the light warm-weather vibe.”

Lasting power: “It’s not very intense, it faded appropriately.”

If this scent was a destination, it would be: “West Hampton: beautiful but not tropical, classy but not pretentious, pretty low key but still a treat.”

Who will love it: “Someone girly but simple. I picture her wearing a plain white tank and a floral skirt. There’s a bit of a boho vibe, very natural, and happy.”

Carly writes all the snappy words you read in our digital magazine, and tried on pure grace.

pure grace

Initial thoughts:  “There is a stark freshness when I first smell it. But it becomes deeper. Maybe some cedar notes and hints of lemon.”

When to wear it: “You could wear this anytime. It makes me think of a cozy Sunday though…at a café or going to the park in good weather.”

Lasting power: “It comes on strong at first but definitely gets tamed after a few hours. I could still smell it much later in the day when I held my wrist to my nose!”

If this scent had a color, it would be: “True to the packaging, this scent is a bright white. Fine, it could maybe pass as a mint green if we want to shake it up a bit.”

Who will love it: “This fragrance is sophisticated yet fresh. A confident woman who likes streamlined scents will enjoy pure grace.”

Finally, it was my turn! I put on love sweet love.

love sweet love

Initial thoughts: “It’s so feminine but also sexy. It really captures romance.

When to wear it: “It’s a total date night fragrance. Wear it at night, not at the office or in a meeting. It’s more a fragrance for a date with your husband or significant other, somewhere quaint in a steamy outfit.

Lasting power: “This is an all year long fragrance, no problem. It’s heavy enough to stand out in winter but soft enough for summer. It fades through the day but I can still smell it! Just reapply as needed.”

If this scent was a destination, it would be:  “Somewhere exotic and paradise-y like Bali.”

Who will love it: “A woman who wants to feel special and isn’t afraid of a little oomph factor. It makes you feel irresistible.”
