Hello, foodies…
What a wonderful day we had yesterday! If you couldn’t join us for In the Kitchen with David we had our live broadcast from Ypsilanti, Michigan and over 1,000 people came out to see the show. We were welcomed with open arms and the love just continued all weekend long. We’re indebted to so many people for making yesterday's broadcast happen…Dwight B. and the folks at Haab’s, everyone at Depot Town Farmers’ Market, the administrators at Eastern Michigan University, the folks from Ypsilanti Firehouse Museum, and the entire city of Ypsilanti. I’d also like to give a GREAT BIG shout out to the ITKWD show crew for picking up the entire live show and bringing it to Michigan for a seamless broadcast. You all ROCK!
Here’s some footage from our weekend in "Ypsi." I’m honored to have spend the weekend in such a great town and I can’t wait for our next Road Trip contest.
Don't you just love that Mary!? You can tell we all had fun!
Our recipe this Wednesday night is quick, easy, and a great Labor Day and end-of-summer hurrah.
Watermelon Cosmopolitans
This recipe is prepared with the Ninja 72-oz Professional Blender (K37894).
Go to David's Recipe Item Page for the full list of items that David has used in his recipes.
Ingredients:
- 1 mini watermelon, seedless
- 1 cup vodka, chilled
- 1/4 cup triple sec, chilled
- 1/3 cup Cointreau, chilled
- Juice of 3 limes
- Sugar cane sticks (optional garnish)
- Mint sprigs (optional garnish)
Directions:
1. Remove the skin off the mini watermelon with a knife or vegetable peeler. Slice the watermelon pulp into 2" pieces. Place all of the pulp into a blender and blend until smooth.
2. Add the chilled vodka, triple sec, Cointreau, and lime juice to the blender and mix until completely incorporated.
3. Pour the prepared mixture into chilled cocktail glasses. Garnish with sugar cane sticks and a sprig of mint, if desired. Serve immediately.
Again, summer entertaining doesn’t get any more refreshing than Watermelon Cosmos. But, foodies, we’re really on the cusp of fall now. (Case in point: I saw kiddies jumping into school busses this morning!) So Wednesday’s show will have some holiday entertaining ideas to get your creative juices flowing…including two of my all-time favorite fall and winter drink recipes: Homemade Apple Cider and Warm Mulled Cranberry Punch.
Your blog question today is simple: what drink recipe is always a hit at your get-togethers? Do you make a sherbet-based punch? Maybe a mulled wine? Or are you a master at margaritas? Here’s a toast to all of you…the best foodies around. I’ll see you Wednesday at 8pm ET.
Keep it flavorful!
