Welcome, spring! Okay, so I realize March 20 is the official calendar start to spring, but let’s be honest, most of us know spring really begins the first time we faux tan for the season! The moment I see pretty new dresses and shoes or the first time the weather gives us a sneak peek of warmer days, I’m ready to get my glow on with the most natural-looking tan possible.

I’m declaring March 22 the official bareMinerals start to spring because it's the day we'll be back on air with tons of makeup and skin-care spring must-haves, including the brand-NEW Faux Tan Face Sunless Tanner, the perfect complement to our beloved deluxe-size Faux Tan Body Sunless Tanner & Brush.

Better than the real thing.

The QVC Customer Choice Award Winner (3 years in a row!) for Best Sunless Tanner is back in a big way! Once again, we're bringing you the big daddy Faux Tan & Deluxe Tan Brush. Look no further for the perfect tan. This skin-softening gel tanner is so easy to apply, looks natural, and gives you an instant sun-kissed glow that develops over time. Another bonus? I love that it not only helps me achieve bronzed-goddess skin, but it actually hides imperfections on my legs, arms, and décolleté. Plus, Faux Tan Body has a new partner in crime: Faux Tan Face Gradual Glow Sunless Face Tanner. You've been waiting for this for years and it’s finally here! This stuff is GOOD. It's developed specifically for the face, so you get a subtle, golden glow that gradually develops into a natural-looking tan. It’s lightweight, dries quickly, and is going to be your new best friend.

As a hairdresser with over 30 years experience in salons on three continentsand a regular hairdresser at Fashion Weekone I've discovered one thing woman all over the world have in common: they all want to look beautiful, glamorous, and sexy. The trends I've noticed (and had the pleasure of working on) include beautiful body and movement; sleek smooth ponytails; and a lot of glamour!

And that's why we are so excited about the TSV launch of the Milana by Instyler Rotating Iron. The Milana is exclusive to QVC until 12/31/13! This styling tool quickly and easily achieves the new looks that were so hot at Fashion Week. I love the fact that I can depend on one tool to be able to give that salon-style finish.

Bringing Femininity Into the 21st Century

People's roles in society seem to dictate how they "should" dress. So, as the roles of women in our world have changed, how do you bring an element of femininity into the 21st century? This week for The Lisa Robertson Show, we have a number of pieces that usher in femininity in a modern way.

Lace, for example, is something that used to be only feminine, but now it can be a power statement. When lace is used to make a tailored piece like a pencil skirt or a tailored jacket, it says that you can be in charge and still be a woman….that your strength is because of, not in spite of, your gender. We used to have to dress like a man to compete in a man's world. Now that women are all over the organizational chart, we can dress more consistently with our gender. Of course, lace in the workplace should never be sheer; it should always be backed. Sheer lace is alluring, backed lace is confidence.

Suitably Sexy

The Socialite

The easiest way to make a casual-chic, feminine statement is to replace the T-shirt with a feminine blouse. I'm extremely partial to the G.I.L.I.(TM) blouse in this week's show…it turned out to be just beautiful. It's a soft, feminine piece that still looks extremely fresh and current. The femininity comes from the soft, drapey, semi-sheer fabric and the tiny pin tuck-type pleating around the shoulder of the sleeves, while the current feel comes from the neckline and clean lines. This is going to be a beautiful piece for a casual-chic lunch with the girls. With a skirt, you can go to your house of worship or out to dinner. I do think it's a little feminine for most work places, just to let you know. This is a blouse you'll wear a cami under, as well. Don't want you to get arrested. {#emotions_dlg.biggrin}

Pretty Effortless

Bonjour, Paris

A dress is the easiest way to be feminine, but if you want to be modern, add a little print and "fabric play." (I just made that term up, but I mean creative piecing, ruching, and folding of the fabric.) An asymmetrical neckline and/or seaming can make a dress look very current. These elements also help to fool the eye and make you look slimmer. A pretty color and a print with movement can help with modernity and slimming, as well. Any creative piecing that helps to make our waists look smaller and hide our little flaws is welcome as well. This dress is going to go from casual to dinner out, and is the perfect travel piece, as there's no garment bag required and no wrinkling. If you'd like to experiment with wearing it to work, try throwing a simple, solid color jacket over it and opt for a pair of neutral heels. You'll look great! {#emotions_dlg.biggrin}

An Ode to Spring

Brandon Sun is the designer we'll meet this week. He does beautiful work. He takes simple silhouettes and adds femininity through beautiful handmade textures and details. I think you'll enjoy meeting this very talented young man.

We also have something brand-new from Clarks Botanicals and some beautiful jewelry, so you'll feel "girly" from head to toe.

One of the joys of being a woman is being able to dress like one when you want to. It's one of the things that's in our control in a sometimes crazy, out-of-control-feeling world. So we might as well "work it," right?

I'll see you this Friday night at 10pm ET for The Lisa Robertson Show. {#emotions_dlg.biggrin}

My First Ever Stories Campaign Giveaway!

0

Hello friends,

I am very much looking forward to my shows this upcoming weekend.  It will be a fun-filled weekend of NEW, NEW, and more NEW (with some classic favorites, as well, of course!).  And, as most of you know from all of the buzz already on the threads, I will be launching a NEW TSV at midnight on March 23rd.  The TSV is the Sterling or 14K Clad Braided Double Row Bracelet (J279920)!

Inspired by the Gotham bracelet from my couture collection, it embodies both the elegance and edge of New York City.  The combination of classic, sophisticated sterling with the black braided look of leather strikes the perfect balance between uptown’s fashion flair and downtown’s street chic.  It is important for me to also share that the material I used for this very special QVC piece is the same that I use for my couture version, because it is as soft and flexible as possible.  I always want to bring you the best in quality and comfort, and this piece is no exception.  And, since variety is the spice of life, I am also debuting this special piece in 14K gold-tone and rose-tone, as well (J280751).  The color combinations are rose-tone with a chocolate braided band or gold-tone with a taupe braided band (as shown above).  As most of you know, I love offering my designs in many colors and sizes, so that my jewelry is truly for EVERY woman.

For those of you who may feel that the look of leather may be too edgy, as Allison shared in her blog, leather is one of the hottest trends of the Spring season, and it will definitely continue through Fall 2013.  I personally love the look of leather, but for those of you who are unsure, please feel free to take baby steps.  A little leather goes a long way, and the TSV is a great way to add the look with a small accent piece.  The perfect piece to coordinate with the TSV is the Sterling Braided Necklace with Heart Charm (J276113), which was also inspired by my couture collection.

I debuted this necklace last Fall, and the positive feedback has been wonderful.  Thank you, thank you!  Therefore, I am looking forward to debuting a NEW version of this style in 14K gold-clad (J279930) during my shows this weekend.

Now, drumroll please – the best part about this TSV and coordinating necklace is that one of you will have the opportunity to WIN it.  Simply click here and share your story with the QVC Community about why you love wearing my  jewelry.  By doing so, you'll automatically be entered to win the TSV and coordinating necklace in your choice of color.  It's just that simple!

As you may have noticed, I started creating more and more designs inspired by my couture collection, and with every show, I will continue to add more and more couture-inspired pieces to my collection, as well as Limited Edition pieces too.  This weekend, I hope you will enjoy the Aurora cuff in Amethyst (J276524) and the PIA Collection in Emerald (J279178 and J279179), as well as in a choice of Ruby or Sapphire (J269685).  This collection spans several product categories including earrings, a ring, and a cuff.

If you happened to have read Allison’s blog, you know that Emerald green is the “Pantone Color of the Year.”  Therefore, I am particularly excited about the Sterling Silver Emerald Estate Pia Cuff (J279473).

In addition to the sheer beauty of a rich emerald hue, I have always loved emeralds because they are thought to possess phenomenal powers of healing, luck, and love.  It is classified as one of the traditional four precious stones along with sapphires, rubies, and diamonds, and besides love, emeralds are a symbol of loyalty, devotion, adoration, and friendship.  Since Emerald is the birthstone for May, I definitely plan on debuting additional NEW pieces featuring this beautiful hue, as I am working with QVC to bring birthstone pieces to you with each of my visits.

Since March is the month of Aqua, it is with great pleasure that I debut 3 NEW pieces in Aqua to celebrate including the Sterling Heart Enhancer (J279478), the Oval Stone Band Ring (J279469), and the matching cuff (J280160).

In the past, I have not featured many aqua pieces, so these are definitely exciting and fresh new additions to the assortment!

As always, thank you very much for your love and support.  I am counting down the hours until my visit to the Q.  Please tune-in!  Show times are as follows:

Sunday, March 24th:

With much love and appreciation,

A Very Versatile (and Very Special) Floral Cardigan!

Hi everyone! I am so excited to be back on the QVC Community Blog! I want to share some fun news with all of my darling fans – I’m bringing you a very special floral cardigan on Monday, beginning at 12 midnight. Then at 3pm ET, join me for a special live audience show - Cardi Party! Don’t miss it!

Coming Soon!

You know how much I love a cardigan and I know how much YOU a love a cardigan, and done in this engineered peony floral print, it’s a must-have, for so many reasons. It’s colorful, it’s versatile, it’s luxurious. But the best reason is that it’s GORGEOUS.

There are so many wonderful details you must know about.

The flower is done in a watercolor print effect with layers of color to create depth and dimension. I’ve placed them in this particular way, framing the face, to create a silhouette that is seriously flattering.

The yarn is this deliciously soft cotton, and I’ve done the edge of the sweater at the sleeve and bottom with a very refined and clean finish. There’s also this really chic grosgrain ribbon placket. It’s a signature trim of mine that I’ve used for years.

My favorite thing about all my customers is how incredibly smart you are. Nothing gets past you! My team and I take extra care to give you such quality product and that’s why this cardigan is fully-fashioned which means that each panel – front, back, and sleeves - are knit to meet the exact measurements of every size. This is something really special that you won’t find just anywhere. It’s a very fine detail, but an important one, darlings.

One last thing I want to share is a few different ways to wear this cardigan. It is such a versatile piece. Pair it with a maxi dress for an evening out or a t-shirt and capris for something more casual. You know I love mixing prints, so don’t be afraid to try it with a floral tee or even a floral skirt! Also – one of my favorite looks: wear the cardigan buttoned with a pair of jeans. It’s classic.

I’m so excited to bring this cardigan to my fans on Monday. Remember, don't miss my 3pm ET live audience show! We're having a Cardi Party so be sure to dress in your favorite cardigan! I hope you’ll tune in!

‘Til Monday!

Dear Albany, What is Bluetooth and Why Should I Buy Bluetooth Speakers?

0
0

This week on Dear Albany, we’re going to revisit several of our “p's” from the Consumer Electronics Show (CES). As you might recall, there were some key categories on the tech horizon:

• Portability
• Peripherals
• Play things
• Panels
• Power
• Personalization
• Phones

Although March comes in like a lion, you’ve already got spring break on your mind. I’m getting lots of questions about Bluetooth speakers. In case you’re wondering, Bluetooth is simply a method of uniting devices through wireless communication. Bluetooth speakers are an ingenious, inexpensive way to get all your music, audio books, and videos off your phone or computer and into your real life with full, rich sound. These speakers are available in a wide range of prices and sizes. I think what you’ll find is that you wind up picking one based on your sound needs, personality, and budget.

When you think of Bluetooth, you’re really combining several of the hottest trends in consumer electronics:

• Portability
• Peripherals
• Phones
• Play things…well, only if you’re willing to dance along!

Here’s a few options that have gotten fabulous reviews and sound really great:

HDMX is really making a name for themselves in all kinds of small, personal electronics. At CES, their booth was full of color and breathtaking displays. Just a few months ago, during the holiday season, we simply couldn’t keep the cute little “speaker that could” stocked. With its bold colors, small footprint, and easy operation, the HDMX Jam Jar had everyone a flutter. Don’t let the small price and size fool you! This one’s ultra portable for an instant party.

Last week, I posted on my Facebook page about my current gadget du jour, which is my Sansa Sandisk. I love being able to listen to audio books (especially when I can download them from the library for free). I’m currently making my way through a Julia London series; the narrator comes to life with great sound! When I’m home working on the computer or on the treadmill, I connect my Sansa to my Braven 570.

Braven launched at QVC last year and has taken us by storm. They've won so many audio and electronics awards that I'd have to write a second blog to talk about them. Best of all, Braven sounds great and is super lightweight. Plus, the guys at Braven are super nice and really care about creating affordable sound. Here’s the QVC tech team having dinner with Braven at CES.

And no discussion of Bluetooth speakers is complete without mentioning the Bose SoundLink. The incredible sound that comes from this small wonder will have you looking around for a big-boy sound system. Deep, rich lows and crystal-clear highs (without losing the integrity of the music) come across loud and clear. Many people are even connecting a SoundLink to a smaller TV to create a home theater vibe.

Hopefully this will get you on your way to finding the absolute best sound for your lifestyle.  Whether relaxing on the beach or simply having a bit of laundry-folding music to pass the time, I’m sure we’ve got something to help you get your groove on.

Please let me know if you have any other questions.

Stay connected,

Celebrating 300 Recipes! What Dish Would You Like to See Next?

Hello, foodies…

Happy Friday! That deserves a Happy Dance, don't you think?

Many thanks to the ITKWD crewas well as our guest editor Brian— for picking out clips that will clearly land me a spot on Dancing with the Stars…or not.

Anyway! I feel like doing a million happy dances. I'm back with you for ITKWD this Sunday and we're celebrating my 300th recipe. 300! I just can't believe it. I remember making, testing, and presenting some of my very first recipes and praying you'd all like them. We've come a long way together, foodies, and I'd like to thank you for your support, your feedback, and the use of your taste buds. We appreciate it!

So what's recipe number 300? It has to be one of the most festive recipes we've ever made…think Spring, think Easter! Here are my Salted Caramel Chocolate Nests.

Salted Caramel Chocolate Nests

This recipe is prepared with The Neely's 9" x 13" Ceramic Rectangular Baker (K39184).

Go to David's Recipe Item Page for the full list of items that David has used in his recipes.

Ingredients:

12 oz vanilla caramels, chopped
1/4 tsp salt
3 Tbsp milk
6.5 oz potato sticks
8 oz semisweet chocolate chips

Directions:

Line a baking pan with parchment paper and lightly spray the paper with cooking spray. Set aside.

Place the chopped vanilla caramels, salt, and milk in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave in 30 second intervals and stir after each interval, until the caramels are completely melted and the mixture is smooth. (This may take up to 2-1/2 minutes.) Let the mixture cool for 30 seconds.

Carefully stir the potato sticks into the caramel mixture until completely coated. Rub your hands with oil and form 6–8 uneven circles and place them onto the prepared baking pan. Use one or two fingers and press the middles down, creating a nest-like shape.

Refrigerate the nests for 35–40 minutes, or until the caramel has hardened. While the nests are in the refrigerator, melt the chocolate chips on top of a double boiler. Dip the bottoms of the nests into the melted chocolate, and then place the nests back onto the prepared baking pan.

Refrigerate for 20 minutes, or until the chocolate has hardened.

Foodies, feel free to do as the picture above suggests; these would look lovely stacked on a pretty serving platter. Or, picture this...a pastel tablecloth covers your table, a bouquet of fresh flowers is placed in the center, your silverware and china is perfectly arranged, and there's a cute little nest on each plate. What adorable place settings! Add edible eggs and/or a small name card, so they're cute and functional. The only trouble you might have is not eating them before all your guests arrive...these nests are ADDICTIVE!

Now that your Easter table is set, have you thought about breakfast for the family? Faye Porter is our "Cookbook Corner" guest this weekend and she's brining a title called At My Grandmother's Table, which contains some perfect-for-entertaining recipes courtesy of dozens of Southern grandmas. She. Has. My. Attention! And, I hope with recipes like Memaw's Strawberry Salad, Marshmallow Cream Fudge, and a recipe like this, we'll have yours as well.

Breakfast Pizza

Breakfast Pizza

We really do value your feedback when it comes to recipes (and all things ITKWD), foodies. For today's blog question, tell me what kinds of recipes you'd like to see in the coming months. Is there an ingredient you'd like to explore? Do we need more recipes in a specific category (like soup or salad)? I can't wait to see what you're craving. And I'm sure we'll call out a few of your ideas on Sunday, as usual. I'll see you at Noon ET.

Keep it flavorful!
—David

P.S. I saved the best news for last…the Neely's are returning to our QVC kitchen this Sunday. I can't WAIT to see what they're bringing to show off their new cookware. I can already feel a happy dance coming on!

Mother/Daughter Cardi Party!!

0
0

Spring is officially upon us! My daughter Gabby and I couldn't be more excited. We are both warm-weather gals and anything that puts a hint of spring in our lives is well received! So when I found out Isaac Mizrahi was bringing us a floral cardigan (think something extra special at midniht) I asked if we could borrow a few and have our own Mother-Daughter Cardi Party and Photoshoot!

Gabby was definitely down..but insisted I let her put her own spin on things. So being the ultra-cool mom that I am (work with me here), I happily agreed!

We decided to try on several and asked my friend Wendy to snap the pics. And afterward, she and I would choose our favorite looks and take the show on the road to have coffee (cocoa in her case!) and celebrate Spring! Yes, it should have been iced tea. But wouldn't you know it's still in the 30's up here in PA!

I have to say that it was so fun and a real bonding experience for us both! Who knew that tossing on a few cute cardigans could bring us closer.

Check out our pics below. I'm honestly still deciding which one is my favorite..but I promise to decide by the time I present Isaac's creations at 3am on Monday!! Hope you'll join me!

A Wedding in ATL, Snow in March & PM Style Tonight!

0
0

You know that when two people say their vows in front of their closest friends and family and refer to each other as “Kira Bira Boo Boo Bear and my Tall Fuzzy Man Peach”  that they are in it for the long haul.  Such is the case for these two lovebirds below, my boyfriend’s brother Luke and his new wife Kira.  They have to be the most loving, light-hearted couple I’ve ever met and I was lucky enough to spend their wedding weekend with them in Atlanta, Georgia.  How cute are they?!

Their wedding was uniquely their own and the bad weather stopped just in time for the new couple to enjoy their very special day.

The weekend ended up being perfect.  I got to spend time with my Dad, Step-Mom, and our sweet Jack Russell, Zoey (who is currently working on her doggy altoid regimen) and my mom and Step-Dad.  As you always hear me say, it gets harder and harder to leave my family every single time I visit.  I just love them so much.  Oh! if I could get your prayers, my sweet dog Sophia has a mass underneath her arm… my momma discovered it as she was giving her a good ole tummy rub… and now she’s scheduled to have surgery on it Friday.  Please pray that she makes it out safely and that it will only be a random mass and nothing else.  Thank you : )

On the flight home, Aaron and I had a little bit of a scare… incredibly bad turbulence.  Aside from wanting to curl up into Aaron’s lap like a small child and cry, I discovered that I have incredible hand strength and that I clam up like Clammy McClamerson when I get nervous.  I was thinking to myself how nice it would be not to have to get on a plane for a while (I was so nervous, my hands were shaking) but then I remembered Aaron and I start our long awaited vacation this Saturday! Talking about what we would like to do and all of the places we could go helped me calm down a little.  And wouldn’t you know it… as soon as we got off the plane and back into Philly, people were talking about a potential Snow Storm…. Gotta love Philly. In March.  And this is what we woke up to.

Needless to say, St. Maarten can’t come at a better time!  We’re staying on the Dutch side, in Simpson Bay, but are looking forward to spending time on the French side, as well as visiting the Islands Saba and St. Barth’s.  If you have any suggestions please find me on my facebook or here. Thank you!

There are a few things I have to do to get ready for vaca… can you guess?  For me, it’s Nails and Self Tanner.  Which color nail polish do you like best?  I’m going through a Julep phase these days and all of these colors are available on qvc.com.

This week on PM Style, one of my favorite products from It Cosmetics, Bye Bye Redness will be in the show.  As someone who doesn’t have a lick of color in her skin, I appreciate that this not only covers the splotchyness that can sometimes happen to my face- but that it breathes a little more life into by giving me a hint of color and clean slate to work with.

I’ll also be celebrating the would-be spring time here in Philadelphia with Isaac’s new Floral Cardigan… I mean it has to eventually warm up right?!

Have a wonderful week and I will talk to you all very soon!

Hello, foodies…

My ears are still ringing from those confetti cannons yesterday. I knew we were celebrating 300 recipes, but I didn't know cannons were invited! Netiher did Gina Neely, by the way. When that cannon went off, she ducked and ran for cover. Pat had to coax her out of hiding. It was HILARIOUS. I had so much fun with those two…their energy is just incredible. I just can't wait till they're back!

David & The Neely's

Thank you for all of your support on our 300th recipe. And, THANK YOU for your recipe suggestions! Some healthier recipes are on tap for 2013, for sure. And, "cbp in georgia"? Wednesday's recipe should be right up your alley. You wanted recipes that call for springtime veggies and herbs and here's my Spring Pesto with Peas and Mint.

Spring Pesto with Peas and Mint

Spring Pesto with Peas and Mint

This recipe is prepared with the Ninja 72-oz Mega Kitchen System (K38794).

Go to David's Recipe Item Page for the full list of items that David has used in his recipes.

Ingredients:

3 cups frozen peas, defrosted
1/4 cup fresh mint leaves
1/4 cup Parmesan cheese, grated
2 garlic cloves
1/4 cup pine nuts, toasted
1 tsp kosher salt
1/4 tsp ground black pepper
2 Tbsp water
3/4 cup extra virgin olive oil

Directions:

Add all the ingredients (except the olive oil) to a food processor and pulse to combine. With the processor running, gradually add the olive oil. Continue to process until puréed. Serve with your dish of choice; refrigerate or freeze any extra.

Obviously, pesto and pasta are perfect companions. But sandwiches, soups, meats, and potatoes can be livened up with this universal sauce. And, as the recipe suggests, you can freeze your leftovers indefinitely. It defrosts beautifully. When you need a quick dinner, all you have to do is defrost the sauce and cook up some pasta or chicken breasts.

Foodies, blog question time! You told me what kind of recipes you'd like to see. Now tell me how you'd like me to make those recipes. Do you want more pressure cooker ideas? More for your blender/food processor? How about the grill? Appreciate your feedback! See you Wednesday at 8pm ET.

Keep it flavorful!
—David

Was the phrase to define the theme of the Philadelphia Flower Show this year. The central focus was London, and its personal influence on the modern world. With that, the attendees were taken on a journey through everything that would feel ‘English’, all expressed through the power of flowers.

The show is always a big deal, and I love going. It was so much fun to see how the different images that we are all so familiar with like the gates of Buckingham Palace and Big Ben came alive with flora.

One of my favorites was the “Mad Hatter Tea Party” that brought all the charm and whimsy to the table with floral arrangements that formed a cohesive and fragrant madness.

My other favorite was “Pure Britain”, which was a contemporary look of high tea with centerpieces that were so majestic they were fit for the royals.

Of course since it was an English theme, the already very popular British phrase of “Keep Calm and Carry On” was seen everywhere. Since there are so many variations of that saying, I thought it was high time that we had one for our dear Bob Mackie, so here you go:

The revival of this phrase and image, which is now public domain, actually was created during the Second World War to boost the morale of the British public in the event that the aftermath of the war took a turn for the worse. Thankfully, it can be used now for fun and décor and, of course, to remind you to wear your Bob Mackie.

Since I am still in the botanical mode from the flower show, I thought I would highlight this gorgeous piece:

A203427 Bob Mackie’s Long Sleeve Botanical Print Button Front Silk Blouse

This is the green. It also comes in periwinkle, lavender and gold. Beautiful movement, a little bit of an hombre effect…and seriously?!?...Silk for an unbelievable clearance price! We are not seeing much in the way of silks anymore; so scoop this one up before it’s gone!

There are new things popping up all the time. You can visit the entire collection at QVC.com. Bob will be back at the end of this month. Mark your calendars now. He will be on Friday, March 29th from 9-10 PM ET and Saturday, March 30th from 2-3pm ET. I’ll be on for a 2-hour show Saturday morning, March 30th from 4-6 AM ET. I hope to see you there.

Keep up on all things Bob Mackie (www.bobmackie.com), Twitter (@bobmackie), and Pinterest: www.pinterest.com/bobmackie.

You can always give me a shout on Bob’s Facebook page!

Have a great week! Smile

I’ve never had this much fun in my life! The whole show is shot at Melissa’s house in Malibu and takes place in my bedroom! The guest and I sit on my bed and it’s hilarious! Trend Spotting in Europe!

Hello, everyone! Welcome to my new blog. We have a big team that works on the Denim & Co. brand, so from time to time, you will be hearing from me plus other members of the group on this blog. We look forward to hearing your comments and suggestions.

A group shot from one of our recent Denim & Co. design meetings…and yes…it does take a village!!!!

One of the great benefits of being a designer is having the opportunity to travel around the world and gather ideas to bring back for design and development. It is an exciting part of my job, and I love it! Last week, we traveled to Rome and London, and, besides the fact that it rained every day, we brought back some great items for inspiration.

Maryanne and I shopping for trends in Rome!

And you can’t go to Rome without trying one of their delicious gelato desserts…yum!

Now…off to London…

Maryanne, Lucia and I with a fabulous picture of the Queen!

London is one of my favorite cities in the world. The culture has so much to offer, and, not only is it a great shopping destination to find the latest trends, but it is also a must for anyone who loves museums, the theatre or great people watching on many of the famous streets. We usually visit London twice a year and are never disappointed!

I am so excited about the trends we saw in Europe and wanted to share a little of what we saw. I would love your feedback as these are ideas we would put into work for Spring 2014!!!

What color do you like? There were still lots of pretty colors in Europe with beautiful corals and teals, but the newest color direction is these pretty sunshine yellows and bright blues!

Pretty prints, lace trim, chambray and embroidery were in all the stores. I particularly loved this display and the ideas and would love to hear what you think!

We saw printed shirts everywhere! This was a great presentation of all types of new ideas…from checks to floral to smaller conversational prints such as birds. What would be your favorite Denim & Co. shirt print?

So…these are just a few of the exciting ideas we saw while traveling. It is so much fun to start working on a new season and be inspired to create beautiful clothes for all of our Denim & Co ladies! As for me and my team…we look forward to hearing your feedback, and stay tuned for more exciting blog posts to come!

Another St. Patrick's Day Draws To A Close

Well, we had a great day on March 17th! What a fun way to spend the day, and the finale with Jane was such great fun. I hope that you enjoyed it too. We are all home safe in Ireland, and I've put the Leprechaun hat and slab of marble back in safe keeping until the next show.

And as the Irish blessing goes: "May the road rise before you, and, until we meet again, may God hold you in the hollow of his hand."

Behind the Scenes: St. Patrick’s Day 2013

So after a FANTASTIC day at QVC, we all packed up and headed to the airport to make the journey back across the Atlantic - here we all are gathered in the Aer Lingus lounge waiting for our flight – there is always great fun and laughter as we recount the day and the fun things that happened!

A highlight for me was David and Dave James becoming ‘irresistible’ after being sprayed with Patrick cologne – check out the video on QVC.com about 2.5 mins. in – I showed it to the girls in the office this morning – had everyone in stitches!!

Fragrances of Ireland Patrick Men's Cologne (A214693)

Thank you to everyone for making us so welcome – in particular, all the members of the live audience who came to meet us at the QVC shop – it was so lovely to get to meet and chat with some of the fantastic ladies who have supported us throughout the years!

See you all at Rose of Tralee!

Very best wishes,

Barbara

Just Call Me A Barista

So I needed a way to try out the new Starbucks Verismo coffee machine...

It’s coming up as a Today’s Special Value and they sent me a sample to see how I liked it. Now, it’s no secret I’m not a coffee drinker. I’ll have an occasional cup every once in a blue moon, but I’m no connoisseur. I needed the opinion of coffee drinkers -- and to be specific, Starbucks coffee drinkers.

So, I decided to set it up and use it for a club meeting at my house.

I belong to a women’s civic and social organization and our local chapter holds an annual event to raise scholarship funds for students who need financial assistance. Our fundraiser is a luncheon featuring a Hat Fashion Show and Auction. We have the pre-show meeting at my house every year. I thought the meeting would be the perfect place to try my Verismo coffee machine. I knew for a fact that some of our members love a robust cup of coffee.

The afternoon of the meeting, I unboxed the Verismo. I was very impressed the machine came ready to use. There was nothing I had to assemble--just take it out of the box. Off to a good start.

The instructions were super easy--another plus. I was confident I could make whatever my guests wanted -- coffee, espresso, latte. And the TSV came with a variety of pods to make them.

Every year, our group’s final planning meeting is part business/part fun. We hammer out all the last minute details for a luncheon for 200 people--assignments, tickets, hats, auction items, hotel banquet staff instructions and seating. There are a lot of tasks to manage to make sure things go off without a hitch. But we have fun while we’re doing it. Like trying on our hats and dancing a Soul Train Line.

At the end of the meeting, I powered up the Verismo. Everyone was amazed, yet thrilled. The coffee I was serving was just like the Starbucks from the coffeehouse -- it WAS the Starbucks from the coffeehouse. The only difference was I made it at home. And the final thing I liked about the machine was that I didn’t have to remove a pod to make a new cup. Lifting the lever dropped the used pod into a receptacle, so it was simple to make one delicious cup after another.

My coffee was a hit. The Verismo was a hit! And I didn’t have to be a coffee connoisseur to know that! Just call me a Barista!

British Beauty

I have been the lead beauty buyer at QVC for the past two and half years. I am very excited and proud about our British Beauty premiere because I am actually a Brit myself! I moved to the United States nine years ago but have worked in beauty my whole career.

Growing up in beauty it was rare to see brands that originated in the UK. The British have been a late comer to the beauty scene, but all that started to change a few years ago. Beauty is now one of the most progressive markets in the UK, which is now buzzing with new beauty brands like The Sanctuary, SPACE.NK, and Lulu.

I hope you enjoy the product assortment we have put together to celebrate British Beauty. It’s really the tip of the iceberg and we hope to continue to bring you new beauty innovations not just from “Cool Britannia” but from all over the world.
