One of the greatest things about being a host at the Q is getting introduced to new and exciting ideas before they can be seen anywhere else. Such was the case when I met Dr. Roshini Rajapaska (Dr. Raj) and experienced her new skincare line called TULA. You might already know Dr. Raj because of her appearances on The TODAY Show, Dr. Oz, Katie Curic, etc etc etc … the list goes on and on (and on and on...). She is a leader in her field and a recognized guru when it comes to seeing beauty with an “inside-out” approach. She is also super friendly and has gorgeous skin…so when we met, the angels were singing and the sun rays were shining. :)
TULA is a collection of four skincare products that promise to bring balance to the skin via a new approach. Their key ingredient is a proprietary blend of Probiotics. That’s right, I’ll say it again – PROBIOTICS. Her serum and moisturizers are formulated to help fight aging in the skin while bringing back balance and hydration.
I have been trying TULA for a while now and like both what I’m seeing and feeling. During these east coast summer months, we could all use more hydration in the skin, and the light fragrance makes me feel like I’m on vacation.
Oh, and here is a pic of me from earlier this year on vacation in Hawaii!
I’m glad that Dr. Raj is bringing this line to the Q. She is not only a wealth of knowledge, but also a breath of fresh air. Have you had a chance to try TULA yet? Let me know what you think!
Ps. Just in case you are wondering – the first question I asked Dr. Raj about TULA was, “Because of the Probiotic Blend; do I need to keep it in the refrigerator?” (not a bad concept since I always seem to find myself in front of it!!!) She chuckled and reassured me that my TULA would be just fine on my bathroom counter :)
Don’t forget to check out my Facebook page ALBERTI POPAJ QVC to learn more about my life at the Q as well as other great brands that I get to work with.
More summer fun with our shoe shopping family. Leilani was back with more pictures of her adorable family - hubby Sean with Connor, Gabby and Patrick!
Looks like I'm not the only one that loves the beach!
Hello everyone. Can you believe it is already July? This summer is really flying by, and I hope that you are all creating your own special memories. I think that it is so important to take time to enjoy the beautiful weather. Ron and I have been doing just that.
I always say that if I did not spend my life creating jewelry, I would be making sculptures. There is something very moving about giant, life-size pieces and I especially love when they are outdoors. Because my jewelry is scaled so differently, creating giant sculptures would give me a new sense of freedom.
This summer, Ron and I have been lucky enough to spend time with some spectacular outdoor sculptures, which whets my appetite and inspires my creativity. Earlier this month, we visited our friends’ property, which has twenty-three acres of land filled with amazing outdoor pieces.
Do you remember when the roof of the Metropolitan Museum in New York was covered with a bamboo sculpture installation? During summer 2010, an exhibit called “Big Bambú: You Can’t, You Don’t, and You Won’t Stop” literally turned the rooftop into a jungle. Our friends loved it so much that they decided to have a piece of it installed at their home among many other special pieces.
This sculpture is made up entirely of individual letters. It looks so elegant next to all of the trees.
Ron liked the bamboo piece so much that he climbed up and took a seat.
The picturesque weekend at our friends’ was just a warm-up for one of my all-time favorite moments of summer – the Fourth of July. There is no holiday quite like it and we celebrated with wonderful company in a stunning location.
Look familiar? This is from the same artist as the silver sculpture above.
The hostess looked fantastic in a pair of our earrings.
Fresh cut flowers are nice – but life-size rose sculptures are truly sensational. Notice the ladybug, one of my favorite symbols of life and love.
Looking at beautiful pieces of art is one of my favorite ways to get inspired. These swimmers are magnificent.
The holiday weekend ended with a bang – literally. The fireworks were brilliant and reminded me of how excited I am for the newest Today’s Special Value item and some of our other exceptional new pieces.
I am delighted to introduce the “Fleur” earring, a part of the Double Brilliance Collection featuring 118 facet DIAMONIQUE, which is a new design feature cut by Swarovski solely for me. It is no secret that I love iconic pieces with unexpected details but these are very unique. Each of the stones in these sparkling studs is lasered with my signature and they will literally catch every single glimmer of light in a room. Combining mesmerizing beauty and easy elegance, they can go from black tie to blue jeans and everything in between. They are perfect for travel and for less than $69 - $79, they are entirely accessible. But, keep an eye on these – your daughter, sister or even your mother may try to borrow them.
When it comes to parties and stackable jewelry, I have the same mantra – the more the merrier. Of course, cuffs and rings are go-to pieces but what I love even more is when they are stackable.
Say hello to the 118 Facet DIAMONIQUE pave cuff and ring. Both of these dazzling pieces are available in sterling silver, blackened silver, rose gold clad and yellow gold clad. Stack your arm with these cuffs and give your hand the same special treatment with the rings.
Remember to take a break from your summer parties and picnics and catch me on my upcoming shows on July 12 from midnight–2am, 3–5am, 3–5pm, and 8pm–10pm.

Making your own compost is a simple process with so many benefits! A compost bin will mean less garbage, greater fertilizer for your garden and a greener environment for all of us.
There are numerous compost bins you can purchase. At the farm, I use a tumbling composter largely because it is easier for me to mix (turn) and gives me just the right amount of fertilizer for my vegetable and flower gardens. My composter has a large removable lid so I can leave off or open and sunlight, rain and snow aid in the breakdown for rich fertilizer. Joe made his own open-compost bin with a 3 sided box made out of wood since he has much more to cover on our large property.
We throw in everything fruit pieces and peels, leaves, fireplace ash, shredded newspaper (high carbon) egg shells (great calcium), coffee grounds, grass clippings, and vegetable scraps (high nitrogen) I try to be careful not to put pulled weeds in the composter as if it goes to seed it will spread the weed seeds throughout.
During the summer we try to mix the compost bins at least once a weekend. The best compost will take a full 3 seasons to enrich and be ready to use for next summer’s gardens and lawns. No more trips to the garden store for fertilizer – it’s organic, free and right in your own backyard!
Sometimes you just have to laugh. We had another round of bad thunderstorms in our area on Wednesday evening. The high winds brought down several large trees and when that happens we often lose power. Last time it occurred we were without electricity for almost 5 days and we had a tree in our living room. So both Kelly and I were happy it was just a lack of luxuries for a night and not a repeat of "the great outdoors" brought inside.
Pictures from previous storms.. so you get the idea of what it looked like to have a tree in my house and a new "lake" ..lol
We are a rather hardy stock here at The Hughes' Farm so we can survive without lights, air-conditioning, water or plumbing for one night. I set my phone to wake me a little earlier than normal so I could get into the studio and shower there before going on air. Now, my garage is not attached to the old farm house, so I can’t just walk out the kitchen door and climb in my car. You can only access the garage from the outside and it is all built into the home security system with a backup battery that allows me to raise the door in just this type of circumstance.....usually.
Apparently the battery had gone dead and there was no way to get to my car. It's 3:00 AM, I'm standing in the driveway in the dark and trying to figure out what to do next. Believe me when I say there is always an answer. My commuter vehicle for the day was a bit unconventional but I got to work on time, got my shower and as the saying goes, "the show must go on." I do apologize to the other hosts for taking up twelve parking spots in the parking lot for the day...my bad.
If you see a farm tractor parked in the lot next time, you know I lost power again! Lol!

Here’s a fun fact -- July is National Ice Cream Month! Who knew there was such a thing?
So, in honor of the month dedicated to ice cream, I thought I would share my favorite and easiest ice cream recipe. I make mine in my Vitamix, but it works just as easily in a food processor or a blender.
There isn't much better than ice cream on a hot summer's day!
Easy Soft Serve Ice Cream
12 oz. bag of frozen raspberries (or other frozen fruit)
2/3 cup heavy cream
1/2 cup sugar
1 tsp vanilla
Pour all of the ingredients into your blender or food processor and blend to a creamy frozen consistency. You can enjoy it “soft serve” right away, or put it in the freezer if you prefer a firmer texture.
What’s your favorite ice cream flavor? Tell me in the comment section below.
QVC is celebrating Christmas in July® so our studios are twinkling, singing, and buzzing. The only thing that’s missing is the food—one of the most special things about the holidays. So the In the Kitchen with David team took a look at my recipes on QVC.com and compiled a list of our sweetest holiday favorites. Without further ado…the 12 Days of Christmas Recipes.
Keep it flavorful!

The day after Ryan's high-school graduation party, he left for China on a cultural mission trip with a group from our church. Our son, Eric, went on the same trip eight years earlier and had such a great experience. Here's Ryan's story:
"I’m sure it takes a lot of guts for a mom to let her son travel to the opposite side of the earth at my age, but luckily I’ve been blessed with a mom that has the guts to stand in front of millions of viewers every day.
I couldn’t be more thankful to have experienced the things I did in China.
My experience in China was exciting, humbling, and all together a life changing experience. Our team of 20 people traveled to Guilin, China in mid-June and stayed there for 18 days.
For the first week we visited many different English classrooms of freshman and sophomore classes at the Guilin University of Technology. We played games, shared our thoughts and ideas, and built relationships with the people of this magnificent country.
We spent so much time with the students visiting Chinese markets, famous parks, and even inviting the students to stay with us in our hotel at night. I’ve been very blessed to go to many of the places I’ve been to, but nothing compares to the connection I have with China because I’m not just a tourist to the students, but I have an everlasting friendship with many amazing people in China that has and will continue to prosper.
It was so encouraging for my Chinese friends and me to be able to open up to each other and share our hearts because of how we trust each other and we could see each other as God see’s every one of us on all sides of the world: his equally important and worthy children. Thank you all for your encouragement and prayers throughout the summer, and though I so badly want to go back, I’m glad to be back home where I belong."
Counting our blessings,
Mary Beth and Ryan Roe
"Meg, looking at your neck is giving me neck envy! What is going on with that neck?" "StriVectin's brand new TL Neck Serum Roller! That is what is going with my neck!"
Benefiting from the amazing technology that comes out of our StriVectin laboratories is an occupational hazard!
So, what is it you ask? We have formulated a revolutionary TL Neck Serum Roller to treat all of the aging concerns of this delicate skin. The serum absorbs quickly and the unique combination of ingredients, including our patented NIA-114.
Personally, what brings this breakthrough home is the unique cool metal roller (the roller itself is age-defying too!) that does all the work for you. It rolls on the perfect dosage of the serum while cooling, soothing, and massaging this delicate skin.
TL Neck Serum Roller
We are SO excited for the launch of our TL Neck Serum Roller in our Today’s Special Value® collection, exclusive to QVC until 10-31-14! Tune in at 12am ET on July 21 and let me show you how to "Roll Back the Years." Just wait until you see the before and after photographs taken on women who all had neck aging concerns and saw results. All I can say is, “WOW!”
We aren’t stopping at the neck! You will also get TL Face Serum and TL Body Cream to complete your 3-piece head-to-toe firming collection. TL Face Serum helps your face look firmer with greater resiliency after using it for 2 weeks, and TL Body Cream, in a clinical study, 89.7% of subjects saw a reduction in skin crepiness after 8 weeks! That’s a 3-piece head-to-toe firming collection I want to get my hands on!
Can’t wait to tell you (and the lovely Lisa Robertson) more and share all of the AMAZING head-to-toe firming benefits of this collection!

Hey Denim Divas!!
What's better than a Denim and Company "Active" TSV?? How about a Denim and Company "Active" TSV set!?!?! That's right, after hearing tons of feedback and requests from YOU, the team went to work to create a matching D&Co "Active" jacket and T-shirt, especially for our TSV today!! It is DARLING and SLIMMING...I just love it!! It will assist me and YOU with tackling the day in comfortable style, even when our "to do" list is at least a mile long!!
As you know, Denim and Company created the "Active" apparel line last fall. It’s all about that perfect French terry knit that has been getting rave reviews from our D&Co customers!! (Remember, back in May, when we featured a TSV that was a D&Co "Active" French terry SKORT?!? It was incredibly popular!)
Today, we're offering our first ever "Active" SET as a TSV—per your request!! Yes, you get TWO pieces for an amazing price, which will create lots of versatility for your wardrobe, especially if you get a couple of sets to mix and match! Each two-piece set can be worn together or separately. The first piece is a French terry jacket, which features seaming detail that’s extremely figure-flattering and active inspired. It also features a zip front, two front pockets, and a hood (we love our hoodies and our pockets!) The additional details are terrific....you will LOVE how you look in this jacket! The set also comes with a T-shirt—which is a striped knit top—done in our Perfect Jersey fabrication of 95% cotton and 5% spandex, with our top-selling V-neckline and short sleeves. Stripes are all the rage, and make everyone look so sporty and youthful. (Not to mention the fun, nautical factor!). The set comes in SIX amazing colors to wear NOW AND LATER, with all stripes on the shirts done in white, on a color background.
I can see this becoming a major "go to" for me, especially as we get later into summer and early fall!
This jacket looks fantastic open or zipped up. The fit is perfect and it's easy care too....machine wash and tumble dry.
So, what are you waiting for? Come on, get "Active"!! Even if active means taking a walk with friends or meeting your friends for lunch and a bit of shopping! You will look and feel your best in this Active Set from Denim and Co!! See you every Tuesday morning for our always FUN Denim and Company time together!!

A couple of weeks ago, Chris Pryme (our dear friend from Lock & Lock) made me some Gluten Free Crunchy Chocolate Chip Cookies. They were to die for. Now, she is on a very-deserved vacation and she kindly e-mailed the recipe to share with you! Please see below and ENJOY!
1 cup Crisco
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup white sugar
2 teaspoon vanilla
3 1/2 cups brown rice flour
1 cup almond meal
2 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup oil
1 & 1/2 cup crushed corn flakes
1 & 1/2 cup gluten free oats
2 cups chocolate chips
Pre-heat the oven to 350.
Start by mixing together the following ingredients: Crisco, sugars, egg, and vanilla until creamy. In a separate bowl, mix together the rice flour, almond meal, baking soda, and salt. Now mix the blended dry ingredients into the wet ingredients and mix thoroughly. Fold in the oil, corn flakes, oats, and chocolate chips until well blended, but not over-mixed.
Let it sit at room temperature for about 15 minutes. Scoop (I use a small ice cream scoop) and bake for 8-10 minutes.
Tip from Chris: “I find when I do the gluten free recipes if I let them set for a little while to absorb, the recipes come out better”. So don’t forget the “resting” time!
And, of course, they store beautifully in any of your Lock & Lock containers! See you soon :) ~ Mary DeAngelis

What a whirlwind weekend we just wrapped up. Wedding planning and organizing was in full effect this weekend. Not only did we order flowers, we designed and laid out the scheme of our reception, we tasted potential signature cocktails, we got our marriage license (WOOHOO!), filmed for Courtney Says I do, and a Bridal Shower to finish thrown by my amazing Kindergarten teacher and my mom’s dear friend. I don’t think we slept the entire weekend :). That’s ok because it was worth it to hang out with my QVC friends and family.

Wrapping up a great weekend with a yummy dinner
Love my Family!
This week I am promising myself to have fresh juices and smoothies out of my Vitamix. Over the weekend Aaron and I had to sample potential cupcakes to be served at our wedding and I am just in Sugar Detox mode…. No more sweets for me for a good while! Right…
The QVC Kitchen has given me awesome recipes for me to share with you during the summer months and this one is no exception. There is only a short time frame where one can enjoy the fresh peaches of the season, and with this smoothie we are making the most of it. If you’re looking for that “Sit back and Relax” kind of smoothie, than this is for you. It’s just sweet enough with all the peaches, but balanced out by the spinach. The raspberries (or strawberries) give it a sweet tart kick but it’s enough to keep you coming back for more on those hot summer nights. Try it out and let me know what you think. Follow me on ToGather for this exclusive recipe. Enjoy!

Tonight It’s all about Fashion Now and Later. When you think about that idea… it’s nice to have pieces in your wardrobe that can live with you for six months out of the year. With 24 hours dedicated to those fashions and accessories in mind, here are a few of my favorite Now and Later pieces from the show. Enjoy!
Have a Great Week!
If you follow me on Facebook, Alberti Popaj QVC, you probably know that I was in Southampton last weekend shooting video content for our big Super Saturday event on 7/26/2014. Since I was going to be there for a few days, I decided to bring Prince Charming and Coco Chanel for some “fun in the sun!” Although we had a rigorous shooting schedule, we definitely had time to enjoy all that “The Hamptons” had to offer - from beautiful streets, to great shopping and restaurants; as well as wonderful people.
Here is a photo diary of our trip. From the photos I think you can tell the puppies were in a good mood :) (no grumpy faces here!). On our first day, we got to spend some time outside.
Coco was my lunch date while Prince Charming scoped out the scene at the pool.
Then we got to walk around town and check out the art scene, as well as the beautiful courtyards.
On our next day I got to visit Isaac Mizrahi at his store and get a sneak peak at some of his fall collection pieces.
I got to interview Isaac on his involvement with Super Saturday as well as some of his thoughts on the summer/fall trends.
We also got to visit the home of Dr. Gross and his wife Carrie in Bridgehampton. The puppies came along to play with Yogi – the Gross family pet.
We had such a lovely time there and their home is absolutely stunning!
I also got to visit Nova’s Ark, the open field/art haven, where Super Saturday is held. It was quite the experience!! I learned so much about the artist Nova and where the idea for Nova’s Ark came from!
Here I am with Tundra, learning about Nova and the reason for the artist’s grounds.
There was so much that we did, and if you want to see more of our trip, tune in to QVC PLUS on QVC.com on 7/26 at 1pm EST/ 10am PST and watch the full preview show, hosted by Courtney Cason. Then be sure to check out the live broadcast of Super Saturday beginning at 2pm EST / 11am PST on QVC.
There are many great values on products as well as a great cause to support!!
See you then!!
